Just letting you know in case you weren't aware: The gems Thranduil wanted back belonged to his late wife. He gifted the necklace to her before she died but when the dwarf king found them, he refused to give them back to him, which is also a reason why the alliance between the dwarfs and the elves became strained. Thranduil wasn't greedy for jewels, he just wanted a piece of his beloved wife back.
Bittersweet cuz this was Christopher Lee’s last appearance. Of course they had a stunt double as him during the fight scenes but the close ups were definitely him.
he also couldnt fly out to film, he had to do it at home, on green screen, and send it to peter jackson to put in the movie.
That guy is an absolute legend
@@actuallywill Christopher Lee didn't film it in his home. Saruman's scenes were filmed in a studio in London and Peter Jackson was there to film in person.
The scene when the members of the white council fighting Sauron and his servants is one of my absolute favourites. So good that they added this to the movie.
Was definitely a great scene
I read somewhere that Galadriel is supposedly one of the strongest beings in Middle Earth, definitely get a feel for it in that scene
It's a good scene, although it might be in a different time period that that happened.
@@MJKFanatic Tolkien considered her to be the greatest of all the elves in Middle-earth, though it's pretty unclear how capable she is in terms of fighting and dueling. Gandalf and Saruman are both more powerful than her, so it's a bit weird to present her as the mightiest here.
@@felagund87 but they was not able to use there full power in middle earth. Galadriel can thou so that's how she is stronger then them 2
Though Tolkien never mentioned Legolas in the Hobbit, he was probably at least at the battle since he was the prince of Mirkwood.
7:23 "MENFLESH" 😂 I legit wasn't looking for a second and thought "wait was that in the film?!" that's how good your impressions have gotten 😂
I like the scene where Galadriel fights Sauron, because i see it as her sort of avenging her brother Finrod, who died in a duel against Sauron ( Sauron was still at full power and had a physical form) in the first age. Also its scary to think about the fact that Smaug was a small dragon, and he caused all that destruction so fast and easily.
She's also severely weakened by doing that which shows how powerful Sauron is even without physical form. He's only recently come back and still regaining his strength.
Sauron has a body in the third age as well
I thought Finrod died in the second age. Second age began when Melkor was defeated.
@@rithvikmuthyalapati9754 No. Finrod died in the dungeon of Sauron in the first age. Protecting Beren from a sure death
@@rithvikmuthyalapati9754 Finrod died before Melkor was defeated. He died in the year 465 of the first age, while saving Beren in Tol-in-gaurhoth.
"Leave Sauron to me" was in the trailers and i just GAAAAAH WHY DO YOU GIVE ME EMOTIONS
After the events of this movie, Balin forms an expedition into Moria and that's where Gimli and the fellowship finds his grave and the final stand of his group.
And the dwarf skeleton holding the book Gandalf reads from is Ori😭
@@waffle56723hiss good point, forgot to mention that, Ori was part of the expedition. Not sure who else though.
@@rapgsolano Oin was part of it too. The monster in the water outside the west gate killed him.
😢
"Why couldn't they do that at the end of the last film?"
Without the plot hook, most viewers would think that was the end of the story and not bother with the larger aftermath.
Just another example that 3 movies were simply made out of corporate greed. For gods sake the entirety of this movie except the death of Smaug is a single chapter in the book
Watching your reaction to Galadriel backhanding that Orc with her magic was totally worth it!
Yay excited for this! Best scene for me is Galadriel, Elrond and Saruman fight.
It is great!
When Elrond steps out in that golden armor
....whoa....everytime I am impressed!
Yas! Best scene of the movie.
@@baskervillebee6097 We wouldnt be impressed if it was Minecraft
"He's like Smaug" YESSSSS great catch! That was intentional!
Elrond: So, I should not get on the bad side of my mother-in-law.
I bet she lives at the Palace rent free 🤣
lolololololol
Also I think I'll send my daughter to live with her for a bit. Get her away from that Aragorn boy and maybe she'll pick up some tricks. Like summoning water horses from a river, that'd be really cool.

I love that look of disappointment on Thorin's face, betrayed by the one he thought was his closest friend
Thorin betrayed himself by being a selfish, greedy bastard with no compassion. Someone who let's other people suffer because he wants something for himself, and even when these people have helped him before, he stoneheartedly tells them to go to hell because he doesn't want to share that what others have helped them to reclaim. To be honest - Thorin wouldn't have gotten far without Gandalf and Bilbo. If he hadn't died, he'd probably would have remained the sick, cold-hearted bastard who doesn't want to help anyone.
@@alexanderdean8682 looks like someone didn't understand the story then
@@livvioletta690 What story? He's right 😊
The credits song for this movie is absolutely amazing. It's written and sung by Billy Boyd who played Pippin in LOTR
Lots of Middle Earth fun in this movie. It ends leaving you wanting to then start LOTR. And sometimes I did...:)
Literally exactly how I felt!
I do this all the time. Watch hobbit first and then lotr
I love how you ask "is that possible?" when an elf leaps up falling stones. Lol. You're a true fan when everything else is a-ok! 😁
As always, really enjoyed your viewpoint!
9:37 "Can she actually match Sauron" No, not at all. Something to keep in mind is that this scene was in the film, but not in the book. Of all the prominent characters here, Galadriel is actually the weakest (greater than Elrond at magic, but less fighting prowess), and this is with her wearing a ring of power (which Elrond and Gandalf also here possess). This isn't to say Galadriel is not powerful, because she is, but she does not have the power to do anything to Sauron. In The Hobbit (book, by J.R.R Tolkien) it is simply stated that Sauron retreated from Dol Guldur, and most Tolkien scholars and fans consider this to be purposeful-meaning, he left of his own free will. Sauron was only in Dol Guldur so that he could gather information in secret, so now that he had been discovered by the White Council, he had no reason not to leave; so he did, and he soon came to reside back in his old home of Mordor.
When Galadriel says "You have no power here", this is kind of true. Sauron had not yet at this point gained enough strength to take physical form, or really do much to interact with the physical world. So could Galadriel have potentially forced Sauron to leave? Perhaps, but it is unlikely. As cool and visually unique as this scene is, it is not very accurate to the source material. That said, the events of this scene should not be discounted as a possibility completely, as the actions of the White Council in Dol Guldur is left unusually vague.
Wrong. Galadriel is second only to Sauron (with ring).
@@LeBlanco89 Gandalf is of Maiar - angel like beings, and no elf is higher or more powerful than Maiar, Gandalf is older than her, wiser and he was created as a higher being long before her. You are wrong, because your judgment is clouded. Gandalf was even better and stronger than Saruman, that's why Saruman was jealous of him, but Gandalf chose a different path than Saruman as he was no as power-hungry.
@@alexanderdean8682 nonsense
We don't care, just wanted to see his reaction to her absolutely disintegrating that orc
Explain yourself? Nah. “Nonsense”😂
When I was in the cinema seeing this i thought "aw it'd be cool if they went back to Ian Holm but they probably won't" and when they did not being funny i gasp-sobbed...like I'm crying now just thinking about it i loved it so much
Being in the cinema and witnessing the audience reaction to Dain's first appearance was a treat 😂😂 everyone recognised Billy Connelly's voice before we saw his face and the room sort of perked up! Worth listening to the OST track "Ironfoot" in isolation. One of my favourites of the whole trilogy and criminally underused in the film itself. Those twirly whirlies weren't in the theatrical version and i remember seeing them and being like well...that's the coolest thing I've ever seen 😂
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Seb in a deep voice: MUDFLESH
Haha mudflesh
You have no idea how amazing it was to watch this at the cinema, this is one of my favorite battle sequence ever
You are right about the cinema experience; I saw it on my birthday, and it was terrific. Even the CGI wasn't so bad. Great reaction.
Also if you didn't notice Billy Boyd (Pippin) sang the credits song!
Your "Man flesh! 💀🧟" Is gold! 😂😂
Do not forget that legolas is described as literally light a feather on his feet.( when he walk on the snow and etc)
So yeah that scene where he jumps the bricks is possible in this universe
that scene when Galadriel, Elrond and Saruman come to fight is some of the best shit you will ever see, thats a 10/10 scene :D also love the armies how they are all introduced and come together, especially the dwarves they are great :D the death of Alfred is Extended only btw :) there were a few little homages to LOTR here, like when Galadriel says to Sauron "You have no power here" just like when Gandalf pushed Saruman out of Theoden, also when Thorin asked his comrades if they will follow him and then the "to the king" shout thats just like in Helm's Deep, Bilbo saying "the Eagles are coming" :) Legolas has been defying the laws of physics quite often :D would say this is the best Hobbit movie too :) The Hobbit is a really cool fantasy, its a bit of a shame in the movie sense this came out after LOTR, that set the bar up too high so it was unfairly judged, the book came out before LOTR so if it would have been done that way with the movies too people wouldnt be so salty towards it, they would respect The Hobbit for what it is and applaud LOTR for being a magnificent follow up :)
The Battle of Dol Guldûr is the best bit. Galadriel using the phial she later gives to Frodo, her dark version, seeing Elrond and Saruman fight.
As a note, after the War of the Ring, Galadriel returns to Dol Guldûr and reduces it to rubble before leaving for the Grey Havens.
"I actually really liked him" (Fíli's death).
Me: Oh honey, you got a big storm coming.
Thranduil's story is actually really sad. His wife is dead. The gems he wants from the Mountain are actually his dead wife's necklace. He's lost so much and only wants to protect his people and son while forever grieving for his wife. Elves only fall in love once. There was a deleted scene they excluded that explained Thranduil's motivation. Wish they'd kept it so the audience would understand that he's not some smug asshole. He's a grieving husband, a widowed father, and a king with the safety of his people on his shoulders.
In the beginning he did not help the Dwarves because they had betrayed him. He had commissioned them to make his wife's necklace. Due to the dwarf king having dragon sickness, he gave into greed, and refused to hand the necklace over to Thranduil. A scene we actually see when he closes the necklace box in front of Thranduil. Thranduil left but not after repeated warnings that the dwarf king's mountain of gold and gems were going to attract a dragon to their kingdom. He was right. Smaug came. He refused to help due to his grudge but also because he did not want to risk the lives of his people against a beast they could not slay. Remember they needed black arrows. A dragon is a mighty opponent. He refused to have his people die to defend another kingdom.
Thranduil normally distrusts outsiders since his wife's death and sticks to the borders of his kingdom. Refusing to get in the business of others.
Damn that is sad
That “MAN FLESH” was hilarious 😂😂
Legolas's father told Legolas to look for a man they called Strider. In the Fellowship of the Ring at the Prancing Pony the Innkeeper told Frodo the hooded man watching them was called Strider...it's Aragorn.
When Bilbo says Goodbye to the dwarves that was actually his last scene to shoot and everybody cried for real :/
Dain the Ironfoot dwarf leader was voiced by Billy Conolly, absolutely perfect.
fun fact: the Battle itself was literally only 5 pages long in the book.
Very upsetting Fact: This was the last time Christopher Lee would play the role of Saruman the white, Be seen acting in person and work with Peter Jackson, a year after this film was released, Christopher Lee passed away. out of all the Actor Deaths I've experienced, Christopher Lee's death hit me hard the most, This wasn't the last role he played, that would be the film Angels of Notting Hill as the voice of God. If you are interested in more of his films, I recommend the following films with him in them.
- Hammer Dracula Films
- The Wickerman (the original)
- Rasputin the Mad Monk
- The Face of Fu Manchu
- Man with the Golden Gun
he even voiced DiZ and Ansam the Wise in the Kingdom Hearts Games
and voiced Francisco Scaramanga in GoldenEye Rogue Agent
What about him as Count Dooku
@@darke_marauder Exactly both in Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith
It was so short because the whole book only really followed Bilbo, and he actually got knocked out really early in the battle.
Man I'm so glad I subscribed when u had less than 1000 subscribers. Your content is great and you give off crazy chill vibes. Keep up the great work dude! Looking forward to the marvel series💪🏻
Appreciate that man :)
in the fellowship of the ring, when frodo found a skeleton holding a book, that was ori, the one with the sling shot and the youngest. the monster in the water killed oin, gimlis uncle, brother of gloin
Galadriel wears 1 of the 3 elven rings, so yes she’s one of the most powerful people in middle earth
Well, in that scene all 3 bearers of the elven rings were together. Gandalf had the ring of Fire, Elrond the ring of Air and Galadriel the ring of Water.
Well, Gandalf wears one too and he can't even stop the rain.
The ring doesn't make the power Galadriel has. It has other effects on her kingdom etc, but her magic comes pretty much from her and she always was regarded as one of the most powerful of the Noldor
When you at some point decide to rewatch these trilogies, I suggest starting with The Hobbit and ending with LotR, because just like you obviosuly pick up stuff from LotR watching the Hobbit the first time, you pick up on things the other way around as well. One example being in Fellowship in the mines of Moria where Gimli has boasted about his cousin Balin giving them a great welcome, and then of course finding his tomb instead, that just hits you harder after having met Balin in these films.
Looking forward to the Marvel series ^^
#ManFlesh ! xD
100%! I cry every time I watch Bilbo's party at the start of FotR now after seeing everything he lost and all his friends who died... T_T
The dragon firework on Bilbo's party is Smaug
Well, it had to end eventually. I'm glad to have been a part of your journey through these amazing stories. Although it has ended, I can't wait for what the future holds
The song at the end is sung by the actor of Pippin
The thorin vs azog/legolas vs bolg double gladiator match was so dope
Everything I see Galadrial with Gandalf on her lap I can't stop laughing, if you've seen the making of you'll know why. LOL.
Kili and Fili were too young to remember Erebor. They died fighting for a home they never knew.
24:29 little more context , there's an extended scene during the dinner part in the first movie at Bilbo's house , you get a more glimpse of Bifur and the axe in his head , took me a while too to find out he had a piece of an axe in his head lol blends in so well with his costume design
Can I just say your commentary is so entertaining! So glad I found your channel:)
The best thing of the Hobbit Trilogy is to see on screen the one and only DAIN II IRONFOOT.. One of the greatest Dwarf ever existed.
After the death Thorin, Dain takes the throne of The Lonely Mountain as well.
Balin will go to Moria to be crowned as King, but he will die soon after, as we know from the Lord Of The Rings where we see his tomb.
Good see also Azog, even if he dies long before the battle of five armies. Killed by Dain Ironfoot.
Bolg was the leader in the battle of five Armies, where he was killed by Beorn
I always hope that a react channel will react to Billy Boyds song. The last goodbye. Damn copyright laws
"You have no power here, servant of Morgoth!"
Love when Beorn arrives
air parcel post.
I had the absolute pleasure to play Bilbo in a staged production and it was a complete dream.
There was an added pressure and importance as well, because opening night was the day Ian Holm (Old Bilbo) died.
I think Azog saying who was going to die was perfect foreshadowing because it was in the same order as actually happened. Plus, Azog never mentioned Dwalin dying, and he never did.
Though people might think he never mentioned Dwalin dying because he wasnt in the line of Durin, how did Azog know that?
Dwalin was in the line of Durin. They have the same great-great-father (Nain II.) and Oin and Gloin are the cousins of Balin and Dwalin. But i think Azog wanted to kill the mainline and didn't know if there are other Dwarfs in Durins line. At the time of the battle existet 10 male dwarfes who descend from Durin. Thorin Oakenshield, Fili, Kili, Dain, Thorin Stonehelm, Balin, Dwalin, Oin, Gloin and Gimli.
Don't worry he was reincarnated as Dr. Strange. Fun fact the High Elf that comes to Luke Evans aid is the same actor who played Ronon in GOTG
The song in the credits was written by the actor of Pippin!
I read The Hobbit at around 10 or 11 years of age (over 50 years ago), had never read anything like it, and was heartbroken when it finished. Imagine my joy when someone told me a few weeks later that the story continued in 3 more books. I have read them over and over again since then and then hugely enjoyed and love the LOTR trilogy. I have not seen the Hobbit extended editions but have just ordered them. Seems to me they may not be quite as good as LOTR, but still very good watching and I've really enjoyed your reactions to them all so far.
I love this movie, probably my favorite of the trilogy. I'm happy that you reacted to it and now you say that Marvel is next, omg are you going to react to ALL of them!?
The Hobbit films I feel were unjustly criticized purely based on comparisons to LOTR. The stakes were not as high. The story was not as epic, but Jackson and company did a grand job pushing the adventure to new heights, culminating with Battle of the Five Armies. A fantastic film in its own right. Loved seeing Luke, Orlando and Lee together on screen. The staging was excellent. The emotions plowed thru you like an elven sword. Maybe it didn’t live up to all these “fans” expectations, but I’ve really grown fond of the Hobbit trilogy.
Now we wait to watch him react to the series. Would like to see him hearing the "Song of Durin".
Fun fact: Bilbo goes back to the lonely mountain to see the dwarves and the kingdom after his speech in the first LotR movie before going to Rivendell^^
Physics: exist
Legolas: I don't think so
I am so hyped for this
Legolas would have been involved in the events of the Hobbit, he just wasn't included in the book, which covered the bare minimum of the story, because it was a book meant for kids. his inclusion in the films makes perfect sense. Also the Hobbit was made before the LOTR so Legolas just hadn't been created yet, but even if he had, there just wasn't room for him in the pages of such a small book, but he was a part of the story.. His father was, so he was, and he was old enough to take part in the events. No brainer to include him in the films, as a fan favorite. This is why Peter Jackson is making movies, and back seat writers aren't.
One of my favourite parts of this movie is seeing Elrond's expression when Galadriel banishes Sauron. Just look at the man's face; sheer awe and terror at what he is seeing.
It is cool how Gandalf, Sarumon, are higher beings than Galadriel, but shes been on Earth for SOOO long she put powers them on the Earthly plane.
watch the video to "the last goodbye" the song made for this part but basically peter jackson's goodbye to the whole thing , real tear jurker
In the books Galadriel is very strong, more athletic that the great heroes. She is also older than the moon and is Arwen's grandma
dwalin and balin, kili and fili, bifur bofur and bombur, oin and gloin (gloin is the father of gimli), nori dori and ori. If theyre names kind of rhyme then they are brothers
And then you have brothers named Thorin and Frerin or Dain and Borin or Fundin and Groin. I think there are a few dwarfes who like to confuse others a bit. Like 'what do you mean Dain and Borin are brothers? Their names don't rhyme.'
Your jaw dropping at Galadriel ...
Epic!!!
😎
BTW did you know in fellowship of the ring (the book) it says by the time of LOTR it took 4 dwarves to lift Bombar because he was so large
at the beginning Saruman was using his hand to try and bring Sauron back, fighting against Galadriel and when he first turns evil
Galadriel is elronds mother in law which cracks me up so much
I thought you had stopped uploading for some reason...turns out RUclips unsubscribed me. I'm glad I found this, and cant wait to binge your hobbit reactions! I know the trilogy isnt perfect, but i remember watching these in theatres and being awed. I was around 13 when the first one came out, and had binged the lotr movies w my dad in preparation. I'm glad you're giving them a chance, and hope you enjoyed them! Martin and Richard killed it as bilbo and thorin. I'm going to preemptively say great reaction, bc you have yet to disappoint! 😊
In the animated version of Hobbit, seven of the dwarves die including Fili, Kili, Thorin, and Bombur
It is said that had Galadriel chosen to use her powers for evil instead of good, she would have been even more destructive and terrifying than Sauron himself. Galadriel was the greatest and most powerful of all Elves in Middle Earth in the Third Age. The reason why Fili's and Kili's death hit Thorin so hard is because they are his nephews.
For information, the dwarfs in the book were not aware that Smaug was dead until the humans came seeking refuge and the wealth of Erebor, humans thinking that the dwarfs were dead.
Orcs were coming to still get revenge on the dwarfs and gandalf killing the king orc.
Bilbo uses the ring pretty early in the fight and gets knocked out, staying invisible until he wakes up the night after the battle.
Thorin and his troup chargers, Filli and Killli dies protecting Thorin who, wounded to death, has time to give a last talk and forgives Frodo.
Legolas and the women elf were not in the books. They were overused for my point of view
Your "MAN FLESH" impersonation is so spot on it's actually a bit spooky 👀
The Dwarves clearly had superior technology.
A KIDS FILM?! MY GUY THIS WAS RATED R 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@SebScreen I definitely did your reactions are the best Seb! :)
The song that is played with the credits was sung by Billy Boyd aka Pippen from The Lord of the Rings. It's called The Last Goodbye.
I can tell you, seeing this at the cinema was great. I can't remember what the film was were we planning on watching now, but my daughter went to check the start time for it, and found out that they were showing the Hobbit parts 1 and 2 back to back, followed by an interval, and then a midnight showing of the that night/morning release of part 3. That was a good night.
I missed out seeing Fellowship at the cinema, but had seen the other two, and then saw parts 1 and 2 of the Hobbit as they were released, and as I said, re-watched them again the same night as part 3 came out.
Like you I love the music throughout the LOTR and the Hobbit movies, and the music from the Five Armies, did make me a bit misty eyed at the end, as it deliberately brought both the film series together, with Billy Boyd, aka Pippin, singing at the end, The Last Farewell.
Honestly I'm not against them including Legolas. I'm a big Tolkien nerd but I'm okay with it. It's not far-fetched him being there. I mean, it is his home and he is a leader of his people. Just because he isn't mentioned in the book doesn't mean he isn't in Mirkwood at all. There's always unnamed characters present in a book in the background. So why not include him? It's just a movie adaptation and it is fun seeing more of the elves and their stories even though they kind of failed to give us the right version with Mirkwood and Thranduil. :) (Sry English isn't my first language)
I completely agree!
If anyone can't figure out who the five armies are.
They are: Men, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs and Goblins.
I know there were only around 100 goblins and they were defeated very quickly but in my opinion that is the only other 'army' I could find
I need a guy like you to watch movies with IRL. LOL.
„that was an awful thing to say“😂
Watching this was so crazy good in the cinema!!!! I needed at least 2 weeks of recovery
Galadriel is the most powerful Elf still living in Middle Earth, and one of the oldest still remaining there. Her abilities are somewhat unique, as a product of her birth in Valinor (the Undying Lands), and her teacher who was Melian the Maia (a being who is akin to Sauron and Gandalf), that and she carries one of the three Elven rings. Plus, she uses the Light of Earendil (what she gave to Frodo in the Lord of the Rings) as a means to drive him off, as the light is both holy and painful for evil creatures.

Love it. Thanks for another great video.
Lmao Seb looks soo young here🤣
Oh yessss. 📈📈
Saw is a fantastic series to react to.
I love the hobbit, but my major problem isn't that it got the story wrong, it actually got a lot right, but they just added too much that muddled the entire message and focus of the story, which is supposed to be the hobbit, Bilbo Baggins of Bag End
I like Hobbit trilogy a lot. It is nice and softer story from J.R.R. Tolkien. Sure they did not put as much effort as they did to LoTR but still. By the way nice to see that Snorlax has Toby as friend.
Galadriel is one of the oldest and most powerful beeings we see in those movies, so yeah thats kinda fitting
Indeed, if one just take this trilogy for what it is, which is its own version of The Hobbit, then this is very enjoyable. If you wanna go hardcore Tolkien then none of the 6 films will work.
I was anxious for This Video, It was great.
