Where were the Dwarves in LotR? Busy defending the Lonely Mountain. Sauron sent a messenger to the Lonely Mountain to ask for information about Bilbo. King Dain told him to sod off lol. So mercenaries attacked. The people of Dale sheltered in the mountain with the dwarves. So yeah, very busy.
During the war of the ring, the dwarves of the lonely mountain were occupied fighting Easterlings. The Loth Lorien elves joined up with the Mirkwood elves to take on a force of orcs out of Dol Guldur. So all our friends from this movie were just too busy with their own battles to help out the Fellowship.
The Dwarves and Men of Dale, King Dain died protecting the body of King Brand, grandson of King Bard the Bowman during the Battle of Dale. This was occurring during the Siege of Minas Tirith.

(Elves near extinction) Here is why the elves couldn’t help as much as some may have wished at the final battle of we Helms Deep & other places: By the Third Age of Middle-earth, the population of Elves had significantly decreased from their numbers in the earlier Ages. It is estimated that there were only a few thousand Elves remaining in Middle-earth by this time. One reason why Elves didn't have much military prowess to help out more in the Third Age is because they had already fought many battles in the previous Ages, & were weary of war ontop of Lothlòrien(where Galadriel is) being constantly attacked throughout this current story during the trilogy story but the movies never show it. Additionally, many of the great Elven kingdoms had already fallen, & the remaining Elves had scattered across Middle-earth, making it difficult to organize a large-scale military force. Furthermore, Elves had a deep respect for the natural world, and were hesitant to engage in battles that could harm the environment. They preferred to use their skills in magic and healing to assist in battles, rather than fighting directly. Despite their reduced numbers and military prowess, Elves still played an important role in the events of the Third Age. They were instrumental in the quest to destroy the One Ring, and many fought bravely in battles against Sauron's forces. However, they had to be strategic about their involvement, as they knew that they could not sustain heavy losses without risking the extinction of their entire race. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ The exact population of Elves in Middle-earth during the Third Age is not explicitly stated. During the First Age, Elves were relatively numerous and lived in many different kingdoms & settlements across Middle-earth. However, many of these kingdoms were destroyed during the wars against Morgoth, the first Dark Lord. During the Second Age, the population of Elves began to decline as many Elves left Middle-earth to sail to the Undying Lands, a paradise-like realm across the sea. This was largely due to the influence of the Valar, the angelic beings who created the world, who offered the Elves a chance to escape the sorrows and limitations of mortal life in Middle-earth. By the time of the Third Age, the population of Elves in Middle-earth had greatly diminished. Many of the great Elven kingdoms had fallen, & the remaining Elves had scattered across Middle-earth in small, isolated settlements. This was partly due to the wars of the First Age and the destruction of many Elven kingdoms, as well as the gradual decline of the Elves' power & influence in Middle-earth. Overall, the population of Elves in Middle-earth declined more over time, with many Elves leaving for the Undying Lands & many others being killed in wars and other conflicts. By the end of the Third Age, the Elves' numbers had greatly diminished, & they were a shadow of their former glory in Middle-earth. It’s been their fight for ages alone before Men came along and many of them befriended Men from the very beginning. They share the same fights/The same histories etc! It used to be a few million so imagine what Galadriel & her husband Celeborn have seen regarding experiencing their entire race that still dwelled upon middle earth nearly being wiped out into extinction… By War Of Wrath, Battle Under Stars, Battle Of Sudden Flame, Battle Of Unnumbered Tears, so many more!
Gosh so many people seem to Forget that Elves are A lot lighter than alot of other creatures! Remember the mountain scene in FOTR? How he is just walking ON TOP of the snow and everyone else is plowing though it?
Around the 19min mark when Thorin is losing the plot, talking to Bilbo his face was perfectly aligned with Azog’s face in the background. It was crazy to notice
This was the first time I watched a reaction video to a movie, starting with the first part of The Lord of the Rings that you released, and I can only say that I thoroughly enjoyed re-watching these two trilogies with you. You’re the first RUclipsr whose videos I eagerly waited for, and you have great energy and genuinely insightful observations about movies. This has been a wonderful journey, and I’m excited for what's to come in the future. I wish you all the best.
So fun fact, the mithril shirt that was given to bilbo was originally made as a gift for an Elvin prince. And the only Elvin prince born during the time it would have been made was Legolas. She bilbos mithril shirt was originally supposed to be a young Legolas shirt
"In place of a Dark Lord, you would have a Queen! Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love me and despair..."
So fun fact, the 9 wraiths you see fighting them around Gandalf are the 9 Nazgûl from LOTR. They’re 9 kings of men that Sauron gifted the rings to for power and immortal life but it corrupted them and turned them into wraiths under his control
One time I saw someone mentioned that at one point Bilbo had the Arkenstone the ring of power and the mithril chainmail. It's almost like Tolkiens version of the Deathly Hallows
It's really hard to see unless you know what your looking for, but at the very end of LOTR Galadriel says "The power of the three rings is ended..." and it that scene, we can see all of the Elven rings, Galadriel wearing one, Gandalf another, and Elrond wearing the last one.
Legolas’ grandfather was one of the many brothers to Elwë ( Elu Thingol) one of the greatest elven kings to ever walk the earth. Elwë is the brother of her grandfather who was one of the kings of Valinor before Melkor killed him. Long story short Legolas is distantly related to Galadriel through the grapevine of the stranding back to the elder days before the sun and moon!
Other not so fun fact, the dwarf that Gandalf takes the book from in Balins tomb in the fellowship is Ori the younger dwarf with the slingshot. That’s him, he stuck by balins side
And Oin, Gimli's uncle (also part of dwarven team, the one with hearing problems) who went with Balin to Moria too, was taken by Watcher in the water (that weird squid in water at Doors of Durin - Hollin Gate).
Both Galadriel and Elrond wear rings of power. The form that Galadriel takes that's "scary" is her letting go of her normal control/poise and allowing all of the power to come out. That's why she is so frail immediately after. She basically allows herself to become a conduit for the power, like getting electrocuted.
@@joshuawiedenbeck6944 Cirdan: "I build boats, made out of wood, that float on water. WTF am I supposed to do with a Ring of Fire? Guess I'll give it to this old geeza I've just met." :D
In the Hobbit book the battle of 5 armies starts, there is a bit of fighting, Bilbo slips on the ring, hears "The Eagles are coming!" and is knocked out while invisible. He is only found after the battle and suddenly Fili, Kili and Thorin are all dead. You miss quite a lot of the battle in the book. Regarding why the Dwarfs aren't helping in LOTR: when Frodo and friends arrive in Rivendell with the Ring, there is also a psrty of Dwarfs there, led by Gloin. They came to ask for help dealing with the servants of Sauron knocking on Dale's/Erebors door asking about Bilbo. They're kinda busy with that while the race of Men is fighting in Gondor. 3 of the 13 Dwarfs died in the Quest for Erebor. Balin took 3 more with him to Moria a few years prior to the events of LOTR, where they sadly meet their demise. The other 6 are still alive at the start of the events of LOTR, it is unknown whether they survive the war.
The Dwarves believed Durin Reincarnated. Gloin was Gimli’s Father was at the Council of Elrond. Legolas wasn’t in the Hobbit neither was Tauriel. Legolas was a giant easter egg. Peter Jackson is doing another movie about Gandalfs search for Gollum. From Bilbo’s Party to Frodo leaving the Shire was 17 years. The elves, Aragorn and Gandalf all searched for him. Frodo was 50, the same age as Bilbo was when he went to the Lonely Mountain, when he left the Shire with Sam and Pippin.
It’ll show the 17 years of Gandalf being missing before he returned to the Shire to tell Frodo “is it secret. Is it safe” Hunt For Gollum movie will have that as part of its storyboard ontop of the chance for more worldbuilding whilst drawing from the 26 books of the professors source material ❤ Nature Of Middle Earth, Laws And Customs Of The Eldar, And tons of stuff from LOTR trilogy book appendices. Maybe even motifs from Children Of Húrin as they show what happened in middle earth during the 500 years Gollum kept the ring which leads into the 500 years of watchful peace. Maybe even include Scatha somehow which can nicely lead into War Of The Rohirim movie by the legendary Kamiyama-San. Meet the writers and Philippa Boyens together on nerd of the rings. But his ROP pandering is gross but slmehow he used it to arrange networking which is how he got the interviews with John Rhys Davies and so forth. Including this Philippa Boyens Intrtview. Fran Walsh will be involved too. Andy is already earning his role as Director and producer. Same as how Hans Zimmer is close to reaching Howard Shore Brilliance.
Galadriel was born in Valinor (the undying land of the gods) as granddaughter of one of the first three Elven kings, she is literally older than the sun and moon and she was around when time wasn't yet counted the way it is now, well before the first age. That's why she's so powerful, she also has one of the Elven Rings of Power, Nenya.
Thats why everyone who had any real power had the sense to refuse the ring. Knowing the power they could wield and the terrible destruction they could cause if they were to be corrupted by the ring.
Father called her Artanis. Noble Woman. Noble on this case means more than rando status. It’s fortitude of spirit, mind, heart and body. He eldest brother Finrod was also named Artafindë. ❤
I truly enjoyed your reaction to these series of movies. They really are my favorite of all time. Youre reactions are hilarious and I love how you caught on to how special these movies are. Keep up your channel! 🙏🏼
The Dwarves Men and Elves were Battling Sauron here while Theoden was dying on the Field Before Gondor. King Dain was killed during the War of the Ring defending the body of King Brand of Dale.
If it makes you feel any better about the love triangle. even Peter Jackson didn't want it in the movie. The only reason it is there is because the studio insisted, instead of trusting the director with the proven track record of delivering incredible movies.
yay! really enjoyed your introduction to lotr and hobbit movies, you're such a cutie. every time that hamster running on a wheel clip pops up i crack up so hard lol
They may be doing a new series the hunt for Gollum with Gandalf and Aragorn, set in between the hobbit and lotr. It has promise, unlike the rings of power series which is wholly dissatisfying. Although I watched it so, I can’t fault you if you wanna see it. :p
Balin, the old gray dwarf who told the stories, is the same Dwarf who is buried in the Mines of Moria of whom Gimli mourns and cries on his grave. Balin had become an important leader.
I know I'm a bit late to this party, but it was kind of worth the wait just for the happy coincidence of you saying this is goodbye (for now) to Middle Earth as this is the last movie in the series, only to immediately be hit with an ad for the new movie War of the Rohirrim. Also, I have to agree with other comments here about the credit song for this film--it's such a good song, definitely worth watching the music video they made for it.
Two more dwarves of Thorin's company fell by Balin's side in Moria. Oin's, dwarf with a hearing aid be killed clos the door, through which the Fellowship of the Ring entered. And the skeleton of the dwarf with the book belonged to Ori, the dwarf with the slingshot.
Also during the battle of Pelenor Fields (the siege of Gondor) the dwarves of Erebor with King Dain and the men of Dale with King Brand (Bard's grandson) fight a massive battle here against a huge Easterling army and prevent them from reaching Gondor as reinforcements. They were massively outnumbered but due to the Dwarves making weapons and armor for the humans as well, together, with their superior gear it helped them hold out just long enough for Frodo and Sam to destroy the ring. Both kings would die in this battle. Legodad's kingdom was also under attack, essentially the entirety of Middle Earth's kingdoms were all under attack (He survives). I think there was a scene when Gimli says he wishes he could muster up an army of dwarves but I think Legolas tells him that they dwarves have their own problems right now and that's what he's reffering to, The Battle of Dale which would make an awesome movie I think.
Also, the concept of wizards doing flashy spells is a bit younger than Gandalf. Our modern concept of fantasy is already three generations deep into having absorbed Tolkines works as one of its main pillars, we often struggle to think of what "fantasy" as a genre was when The Hobbit was written.
Really enjoy your videos KP! Since you loved the Middle Earth films so much, as do I, I want to share my top 5 movie list with you in case you want to watch any of them for the channel!! 1) LOTR Trilogy (well done getting the best done first!) 2) Green Book 3) Remember The Titans 4) Ford V Ferrari 5) Saving Private Ryan

The author of HOTD & GOT, George R. R. Martin said he learned how to write tragic stories/ kill off beloved characters from Tolkien. I think about that every time I watch this movie. I honestly threw the book when I got to the end of The Hobbit lol 😭
There is an animated movie set in Middle Earth called The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, that is set to release in December of this year! It tells the story of Helm Hammerhand, a legendary king of Rohan, which the fortress of Helm's Deep is named after!
Evangeline Lily mostly did her own stunts, her kinda hallway scene, when she ducks one hit from an orc, one take she forgot to duck and got punched full force in the face by a stunt man, took it like a boss and kept filming. Bolg throwing her against the wall was done by her stunt double, Evangeline wanted to do it but Peter said absolutely not because she could break her back, it was dangerous even for the stunt double because they couldn't put much padding in the costume.
Watched all of your LOTR and Hobbit reactions... Really enjoyed your commitment to and devoted appreciation of all of the films. If you want to revisit another good fantasy film, I would recommend Excalibur (1981)...it's not LOTR but does give an extremely entertaining and quality telling of the legend of King Arthur. Thanks for sharing your reactions. Much appreciated...
26:07 they were at the Lonely Moutain/Iron hills (for the dwarves) and Mirkwood (for the elves). There were another 5+ orkish armies in the war of the Ring that attacked Rivendell, Lothlorien, Mirkwoord/Greenwood, the Iron Hills, and the Lonely Mountain, as well as the ones that attacked Gondor and Rohan (I also think there was another one that attacked the Beornings: descendants of Beorn, but I can't remember if that was it's own army or part of the ones that attacked Lothlorien and Greenwood/Mirkwood). That is why the Elves of Mirkwood (and both Rivendell and Lothlorien didn't help much) and the Dwarves didn't help at all. In the War of the Ring, all the anti-Sauron armies would win after the Ring was destroyed, and Galadriel would personally use magic to tear the fortress of Dol Guldor down to its foundations.
The thing about the Hobbit. It showed the futility of greed leading to war. (WWI) 1937 The Lord of the Rings answered with sometimes you have to fight, when a great evil is present. (WWII) 1954/1955 And Tolkien as well as Jackson was not above showing the destruction, devastation, and grief that also comes with war. You definitely should have read the books first. Luckily I had only the books, until I was in my mid-20s.
Don't watch the Rings of Power!! You will be so disappointed. However, there is the War of the Rohirrim coming later on in the year and then the Gollum movie that Peter Jackson will be making in 2026. There's enough there to get your teeth into when you need the Middle Earth fix without going to RoP.
Everyone goes on about the Eagles taking characters where they needed to go. But this is explained briefly in the book of The Hobbit (the first released and intended for children). The Eagles have no special love for mankind (or other peoples, who are really just representations of mankind). Nor do Bjorn, the Ents or the living trees of Fangorn forest. The books, written in the 30's and late 40's, have a Green theme throughout. Man is careless and often cruel. Some are given a wary trust - Gandalf, Radagast etc. But largely they keep their distance. Also, as forces of nature, who is to say they couldn't be corrupted also, and fly the ring straight to Sauron. Tolkien was ahead of his time. Saving the planet isn't a new concept.
Are you planning on seeing The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim when it screens in theaters in December? This is an anime movie set about 200 years before LotR, during the time of King Helm Hammerhand of the Horse-lords (Rohan). Helm's Deep was named for him.
Weird thing that in the legendarium Azog was long dead so it’s weird he’s here. These movies would have been worse if PJ getting the old crew back to rescue it from Deltoro who ran it to the ground flaming nosedive style and ran off in the middle of production.
-"I think you're quite ready for another adventure!" My recommendation for your abstinence and/or healing process is the epic movie "O Brother, where art thou?". Excellent medicine!
Issues with the movies aside, war is generally described differently in the books, and if it were shown as described it would be pretty anti-climactic. (The deaths were mentioned but not how)… I appreciate the filmmakers with how they filmed the fighting. To actually see how fili, kili, and Thorin died is pretty heartbreaking. Also, as others have said, definitely watch either the end credits, or the official music video for it - I’m sure you would get emotional…

It's not common for elves to fade due to the death of a spouse. The dead spouse just ends up being reincarnated anyway and they hook back up.
Elrond's wife Celebrían suffered horribly at the hands of the orcs. She was defiantly tortured and with how awful orcs are we can only assume what else was done to her.
It used to be a few million so imagine what Galadriel & her husband Celeborn have seen regarding experiencing their entire race that still dwelled upon middle earth nearly being wiped out into extinction…
By War Of Wrath, Battle Under Stars, Battle Of Sudden Flame, Battle Of Unnumbered Tears, so many more!
Legolas, Legomum and Legodad. Basically a Lego family.
Lords of Legoland
This was the first time I watched a reaction video to a movie, starting with the first part of The Lord of the Rings that you released, and I can only say that I thoroughly enjoyed re-watching these two trilogies with you. You’re the first RUclipsr whose videos I eagerly waited for, and you have great energy and genuinely insightful observations about movies. This has been a wonderful journey, and I’m excited for what's to come in the future. I wish you all the best.
You’ll love other channels better. Such as MrValentine and ItsMrVideo and Scene’srly KSO.
Popcorn In Bed is another great one.
"How loud is his voice" talking about Bolg, he uses those flags next to him to give orders on the battlefield by changing its shape.
Bittersweet. Been keeping an eye out for this video all week, but now that it's here I'm realizing this is the end🥲
Didn't know that, but Cirdan giving his Ring of Fire to Gandalf was a smart play.
@@zherean42069 I'm sure true fans will nitpick the details, but all of the main points are true.
@@joshuawiedenbeck6944 Cirdan: "I build boats, made out of wood, that float on water. WTF am I supposed to do with a Ring of Fire? Guess I'll give it to this old geeza I've just met." :D
Always i though elves got this kind of power to become dark..
@@AdrianHaguenice joke n it that’s not the power of Narya. ;)
Is it safe”
Hunt For Gollum movie will have that as part of its storyboard ontop of the chance for more worldbuilding whilst drawing from the 26 books of the professors source material ❤ Nature Of Middle Earth, Laws And Customs Of The Eldar, And tons of stuff from LOTR trilogy book appendices.
During the Lord of the Rings, Erebor was besieged at the same time as Gondor. We DID need the dwarves, but they were a bit busy themselves.
The jump scare sound that played when Saruman showed up to help absolutely sent me 🤣🤣
I cried at the end of this one. Loved the characters that passed.
Bro, honestly, one of the best reactions to this film, appreciated it❤
There's still an upcoming movie from middle earth, it's called The hunt for Gollum... We expect to watch it too
Thats why everyone who had any real power had the sense to refuse the ring. Knowing the power they could wield and the terrible destruction they could cause if they were to be corrupted by the ring.
The hamster wheel literally had me rolling 🤣
Galadriels mother called her “man-maiden” because of her strength 🤣
Father called her Artanis. Noble Woman. Noble on this case means more than rando status. It’s fortitude of spirit, mind, heart and body. He eldest brother Finrod was also named Artafindë. ❤
Nerwen is the mother given name. Mother given names are always prophetic. ❤
42:24 The hamster wheel 😂😂
Tolkien is my favorite, and watching people enjoy his work brings me joy.
It was Balian together with Gandalf to visit Bilbo 5 years after the evants. It was a nice little moment at the end of the book, what i really like.
I read the book before the movie so I knew they were going to die but it still hit hard
I truly enjoyed your reaction to these series of movies. They really are my favorite of all time. Youre reactions are hilarious and I love how you caught on to how special these movies are. Keep up your channel! 🙏🏼
Btw Thorin is Trevor Belmont from Castlevania and Dwalin is Dracula
Wooow, that's interesting
Thanks so much for sharing your LotR journey - it was a joy to follow along with
Thank you KP, I really enjoyed your reactions, more so than any others I’ve seen. 🙏🏼
That scene when Thranduil asks Legolas to find Aragorn must be another series of movie.
I might recommend watching the LOTR again. Especially the first one. There are some scenes and little things that just hit different.
I’m so glad I was already on RUclips to immediately click
The Dwarves Men and Elves were Battling Sauron here while Theoden was dying on the Field Before Gondor. King Dain was killed during the War of the Ring defending the body of King Brand of Dale.
If it makes you feel any better about the love triangle. even Peter Jackson didn't want it in the movie. The only reason it is there is because the studio insisted, instead of trusting the director with the proven track record of delivering incredible movies.
That makes me feel better about it. I didn‘t know that. Thank you.
@@rebekkapr7726 You're welcome.
yay! really enjoyed your introduction to lotr and hobbit movies, you're such a cutie. every time that hamster running on a wheel clip pops up i crack up so hard lol
now that you have seen the hobbit you will notice quite some easter eggs and details in the Lord of the rings of bilbos adventure and the dwarves
Those movies are awesome, so many life changing quotes and badass battles!
It's even funnier when we take that The Hobbit is a CHILDREN'S book 🤣
You should check out The Last Goodbye (with Billy Boyd), it gives the perfect ending for these movies
Thanks for your review of my favorite trilogy. The dwarves are my favorite ME race, and these movies still make me cry.
Great job 🎉
Tolkien did not want to make wizards flashy with super strong spells so theres that
Also, the concept of wizards doing flashy spells is a bit younger than Gandalf. Our modern concept of fantasy is already three generations deep into having absorbed Tolkines works as one of its main pillars, we often struggle to think of what "fantasy" as a genre was when The Hobbit was written.
Its never over, next is a re-watch of The Lord Of The Rings!
The screen cap is GOLD. 😂 Can’t wait to watch this later!
Really enjoy your videos KP! Since you loved the Middle Earth films so much, as do I, I want to share my top 5 movie list with you in case you want to watch any of them for the channel!!
1) LOTR Trilogy (well done getting the best done first!)
2) Green Book
3) Remember The Titans
4) Ford V Ferrari
5) Saving Private Ryan
Loved watching you watch both trilogies was a good ride!
Omg, your LOTR reactions and hilarious! 💜 i just wish there were more films -x-
Galadriel’s not dark. Think of kali. Many beings take these glorious forms which scare true evil & malicious beings away. This is what the orcs seen when Elronds sons rescued their mother Celebrían from her torturous captors. ❤ known as Elven Lords Revealed In Wrath.
Great reaction as always! Lotr sereies will always be one my my favorite series of all time
It's sad that it is all over, but it was a beautiful duo of trilogies!
The Rings of Power are such a bad departure from the book that I would recommend doing the LOTR audiobooks at least before you let Amazon confuse you.
(WWI) 1937
The Lord of the Rings answered with sometimes you have to fight, when a great evil is present. (WWII) 1954/1955
And Tolkien as well as Jackson was not above showing the destruction, devastation, and grief that also comes with war.
You definitely should have read the books first. Luckily I had only the books, until I was in my mid-20s.
I lovvvv yours reactions on tokens world!! Tks for go deep inall thise series. ❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
my darksin boy has dropped anotha banga
Galadriel, Elrond and Gandalf wore the Three elven rings of power.
Legodad? You mean Thrandaddy?
Thrandaddy is Oropher. The grand father of Legolas. ❤
The Line of Durin still continues through Dain.
Love your reaction!!! 🫶🏻
time to hit the books
36:46 is CRAZYY you make the best jokes
42:14 i cried at that reaction haha
Are you planning on seeing The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim when it screens in theaters in December? This is an anime movie set about 200 years before LotR, during the time of King Helm Hammerhand of the Horse-lords (Rohan). Helm's Deep was named for him.
Billy Connolly makes this entire trilogy worth it. 😂
Thorin’s final scene with Bilbo is the best scene in the movie, hands down.
Elves are over 6’5”. men of Numenor like Aragorn 7 feet tall.
Thing is Dain Ironfoot never once was a bloody hothead. He was as kind as he was powerful and robust.
Weird thing that in the legendarium Azog was long dead so it’s weird he’s here. These movies would have been worse if PJ getting the old crew back to rescue it from Deltoro who ran it to the ground flaming nosedive style and ran off in the middle of production.
Read Book Of The Silmarillion
Now you've watched these you need to watch L.O.T.R again. It hits different when youve seen The Hobbit.
I would love to see you react to Apocalypto. It will always be one of my faves! 😍
baby come down come down come down
perfect timing
