@@anonimosd.2872 I agree, but there are pieces of vital information left out that could have easily been included to make the movies make more sense as a stand-alone project. For example, the origin of the Marauders’ Map would explain how Professor Lupin knows how to use it, and yet it was omitted anyway.
For me, the problem isn’t the lack of book parallels. It’s the tactless omission of information crucial to the story.

I work as a nanny & I helped one of my young charges do a school report about the wand lore of Harry Potter. The books & the official HP website were the only sources used for the report & we scoured all of them for every tidbit about wands.
Most magical youngsters get their first wand when they start secondary school at 11-12 years old.
The WAND chooses the wizard, as Olivander stated in the first book/movie & though a witch/wizard can use any wand they get the absolute best results with a wand that is loyal to them.
A wand’s loyalty is gained in a couple of ways. The wand choosing its master is the most common way to get its loyalty. Ron & Neville were using hand-me-down wands in the first few movies. Ron was using his brother Charlie’s old wand & Neville had his father’s. That’s why they struggled with casting spells. They were using wands that were not loyal to them & didn’t recognize them as their true masters & were reluctant to serve them. Once they got new wands that chose them Ron & Neville’s magic improved significantly.
The second way of gaining a wand’s loyalty is defeating the wands master through stealth or fighting. If you defeat another witch/wizard by outsmarting them (stealth) or defeating them in a fight their wand will switch its allegiance to you since you’ve proven you are better or stronger.
Intent is important. In the 5th movie when the kids were practicing disarming in the Room of Requirement they didn’t lose the loyalty of their wands if they were disarmed since they weren’t truly fighting each other & the person who disarmed them wasn’t trying to defeat them.
Dumbledore won the loyalty of the Elder Wand in a duel against the Dark Wizard Grindelwald. Grindelwald won it by stealing it from the wand maker Gregorovitch.
It is customary to bury a witch/wizard with their wand. Most magical people never lose the loyalty of their wand & when they die the wands power is “broken” since their true master is gone. They will not work properly for anyone else so they are buried with their master.
Badly damaged wands are nearly impossible to repair as we saw in Chamber of Secrets when Ron snapped the end off his brother’s old wand. He tried to repair it but couldn’t so he wrapped tape around it. As we saw the wand didn’t work properly. It backfired, shot sparks at odd times & sometimes didn’t work at all. That’s why he got a new one in the summer before third year. His new wand chose him & was loyal to him so Ron’s magic improved.
Wands & their masters have a symbiotic relationship. They are bonded with each other & learn together & from each other. A wand that’s good for Transfiguration will help its owner quickly learn how to transfigure. A wand whose properties lend it toward performing charms will help its owner master the skill. A wizard who prefers the Dark Arts will bend his wand into performing powerful curses. The relationship between wand & owner is very much a partnership/marriage.
I wish the movies had had time to explain the complex dynamics between the two since it’s so important to the overall story.

    • @dalehammers4425
      @dalehammers4425 3 месяца назад +1

Not all wands will switch allegiance, usually dragon heartstring wands are the most likely to. A unicorn one for example will never change allegiance, at least while they still live, which is why Neville could never master his fathers.

    • @learobinson4450
      @learobinson4450 3 месяца назад +2

A wand’s flexibly is more important than the core in forming allegiance. Bellatrix’s wand has a dragon heartstring core but Ollivander describes it as rigid. It did not change loyalty when Bellatrix was disarmed at Malfoy Manor.
Draco’s wand had a unicorn hair core & Ollivander said it was reasonably pliant. It changed allegiance. Not saying anything more about it at this point.

Splinching is when you don't move the entirety of your body from one place to the destination in exactly the right proximity to itself. Basically part of your body teleports an inch away from the rest of it, resulting in an injury like Ron gets. It can actually be a lot worse though. Wizards have left whole parts of themselves at the start location.

For your wand questions at the beginning: The wand chooses the wizard, Harry got his wand because it chose him. You can use other people’s wands but they won’t work as well. Voldemort chooses Lucius’s wand as punishment for his failings mainly regarding his failure of getting the prophecy, because now Lucius doesn’t have a wand and even if he finds another one it won’t work as well. Dragon Heartstring is a powerful wand core so Voldemorts disgust at the wand is more likely do to his disgust at Lucius.

Love that you remembered that little detail in the streets about the poster for Fenrir Greyback. Fenrir is also the werewolf who attacked Remus Lupin when he was only a child and turned him into a werewolf. *sniffles* Unfortunately,, yes, that was Avada Kedavra on Hedwig :( Any time a spell fires off green in this movie, it is the killing curse :(
In the book, it does a better job of explaining the reasoning of the fight in the beginning. They all figured that the Death Eaters would assume that Harry would be the one with the most powerful wizard, so that is why they went after Moody first as he's a powerful and very well respected Auror. Oh, and the Death Eater that curses off George's ear -- -- it was Snape.
If you remember at the beginning of Half-Blood Prince, Horus Slughorn says his condolences towards Harry for his Godfather's death and shows Harry a picture with Regulus in it, saying that he had taught the whole Black family...all except Sirius. So that was a name drop quite early on. And on the matter of House Elves..I am not sure if you can order around just any house elf, though Harry was able to do it to Kreacher, because he belongs to the Black family, and when Sirius died, he passed the house down to Harry, so Kreacher came with it. I wish they would have included in the movies the character growth of Kreacher...he really had a nice redemption arc in the books.
Polyjuice does still take that long to make - the movies don't really make the time spent hunting down the Horcruxes as well...they were really camping out and getting information for *months*! But you don't really feel that time gone. Also there are ways of doing spells without saying the words for the spell - like in the battle in The Order of the Phoenix, all you see in the Order vs DeathEater battle is wizards just whipping their wands around, silent for the most part. The ability to perform wordless magic is definitely much more advanced technique.

The Elder Wand was stolen from the Gregorovitch the wand maker by young Gellert Grindelwald sometime in the early 1900’s. That was shown in the scene of the young man jumping out of the window with the wand in his hand. It’s unknown how Gregorovitch got the wand.
Grindelwald was the Voldemort of the late 1930’s through the mid 1940’s. Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald in a duel in 1945 & won the Elder Wand from him. Grindelwald was imprisoned in a fortress & that’s where Voldemort questioned him about the wand in 1998. Voldemort kiIIed Grindelwald after learning the whereabouts of the Elder Wand.

Some of the potholes you’ve noticed and questions you had are actually explained in the book. For example, Hermione stole the rest of Mad Eye’s stock of polyjuice potion.
Also in HBP, as 6th years they learn non-verbal spells and Apparition. Hermione earned her license to Apparate, Ron just failed the exam because he left part of an eyebrow behind, and Harry CAN Apparate but as he didn’t turn 17 before the end of the school year, so he couldn’t take the test at Hogwarts.

Unpacking "The Tale of the Three Brothers"
The story goes back more than a thousand years, from before Hogwarts was founded.
Back then, few people were literate, so oral history had to pass down information.
Some oral history was in song, some in poetic verse, some in storytelling. "The Tale of the Three Brothers" was storytelling.
To make stories easier to remember, they needed to be exciting, so the facts tended to get 'embellished'.
There was never an anthropomorphized entity of 'Death' bearing tricky gifts.
The artifacts were created by the Brothers Peverell themselves.
Antioch created the Elder Wand. Problem was, his pride and arrogance got the better of him. Instead of keeping it quiet that he owned such a powerful item, he flashed it around and was robbed of it. Likely he was killed to keep him from coming after the thief. The Wand passed through many hands over the ages, eventually coming to Grigorovich the Wandmaker, then stolen by Gellert Grindelwald, lost in a 3way duel to Albus Dumbledore who disarmed him, then Draco disarmed Dumbledore and Draco became its true master without even knowing it. Its loyalty can only be acquired by disarming Draco of a wand.
Cadmus created the badly-named 'Resurrection' Stone. The Stone DOES NOT bring people back to corporeal life; it's only power is to summon and hold captive the spirits of those who have died. The longer they are held, the more they suffer. But they cannot return to life; they do not 'resurrect' in the sense we understand. It passed from person to person before coming into the possession of Salazar Slytherin. When he died, it became a family heirloom, eventually passing down through the Gaunt family. Ton Riddle Jr's mother was a Gaunt, and when she died, he inherited it set as a stone in a ring. Tom eventually turned the ring and Stone into a horcrux, which Dumbledore was able to destroy at personal price (remember the black color of his hand?) while maintaining the power Cadmus had invested in the Stone to summon and capture spirits.
Ignotus created the Cloak of Invisibility, the only one ever made that retains its ability make the wearer invisible. All others either fully fail or must be 'recharged'. As the story says, it was passed down to the eldest son (or, if no son, the eldest daughter) over the ages. Eventually James Potter received it from his mother and was inherited by Harry. Hermione found the grave of Ignotus Peverell under a dusting of snow in the graveyard at Godric's Hollow on Christmas Eve.
As far as having all three artifacts make one 'master of death', that's pure nonsense; there is no evidence of that. It's misdirection, a red herring.

The "problem" with the spells is that you have to put a meaning into the incantation and its mostly based in latin for the english spells. So mostly the incantation describes the effect like for example "protego" to errect a shield in front of you. "Expecto patronum" means "I await a guardian." and so on.

The deal with the mirror is this:
In Harry's 5th year (order of the phoenix) Sirius gave it to him. It was part of a pair of mirrors (small enough to fit in your pocket) that Sirius and James had created during their time at Hogwarts so they could communicate with each other when they would get seperate detentions. So Sirius gave one of them to Harry so that he can contact him if he ever needed help.
After Sirius died, Mundungus used to steal things from the Blacks' house in order to sell them. One of these things was the mirror Sirius had kept for himself. Someone (You 'll find out who in the next movie) bought it from Mundungus so he could keep an eye on Harry.

Grindewold (a dark wizard like Voldemort) stole the elder wand from Gregoravitch. Grindewold and Dumbledore were best friends/lovers as teenagers and had plans to take over the magical world as tyrants, but then Dumbledore had a change of heart after his sister was killed in the crossfire of a 3 way fight between Dumbledore, Grindewold and Dumbledore's brother Aberforth. Eventually he confronted and defeated Grindewold and took the elder wand for himself. It's too bad that the movies only hint at the backstory of Dumbledore in this book but never really explore it.

I can't wait till you read the books. Some of your questions are book explained things so I don't want to answer them and spoil the books. I get why they left some things out but honestly they're quick one line explanations. I will say Sirius did talk about his brother in the 5th film and mentioned he was a death eater who was killed by Voldemort himself ( i hope that was in the film i'm sure it was). also never for get what Ollivander said in the first film "It's the wand who chooses the wizard."

The reason Kreacher was acting differently towards Harry than he did to Hermione is because Sirius not only left Grimauld Place (the former headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix) to Harry in a will but Harry also inherited Kreacher as well. As a result Kreacher is magically bound to obey Harry. Harry never freed Kreacher because Dumbledore asked Harry not to due to Kreacher knowing way to much about The Order of the Phoenix secret group.
When Harry found out about Regelus Black being R.A.B Kreacher told Harry about how Regelus use to be a Deatheater during the first war. But one day Regelus found out that Voldemort was using his favorite house elf to experiment on when he was creating the evil magical defenses in the cave where the Slytherin locket was originally located. When Kreacher told Harry about how he was tortured by Voldemort and how Regelus sacrifice himself to save Kreacher, Harry felt sorry for Kreacher to the point that he gifted Kreacher the fake Slytherin locket that use to belong to Regelus. From that moment on, Kreacher changed his attitude not only towards Harry but he began to be kind to Hermione and Ron as well.

Do you do your own editing? Because it's solid, and I think I actually have picked up some good editing ideas from you. Stay awesome! 💜

The wand lore is complex, is not explained to deeply in the films but basically every wand is a kind of sentient thing. All wands have "will" and "loyalty" the wand choose the wizard not otherwise, that's why Harry had the wand that he had, because that wand choose him. And that's why Hermione's wand or the one that Ron provided didn't work too well, because they didn't choose Harry and they're not loyal to him. They can do the work more or less, but not too well. When a witch or wizard lose a duel against other wizard/witch the wand can change its loyalty to favor the winner an will work better than a random wand. Yes, you can have multiple wands through your lifetime but it's not ideal. You have to take care of your wand, it's more than a tool, it's an extension of the wizard himself. And yes, the material (wood and core) you use to craft a wand influences its channeling power and can even favor aspects such as being better for enchantments or being better for hexes, etc. Some wands will be stronger depending on the personality of the wizard, some are ideal for ambitious wizards, others are for wizards of a healer nature, others will favor dark magic and so on. I hope this helps you and sorry for my English. ❤ Oh! Something else! The more advanced magic control a wizard has, the faster he or she can cast spells. More advanced wizards can make use of non-verbal magic, meaning they don't have to say out loud the spell they want to use, but instead channel the intention of their magic to cast it. You may notice that older wizards don't always cast their spells out loud.

It was horribly straining to be on the run. Often starving, because you can't conjure food out of thin air. I guess that contributed to Ron being "off". We know how much he appreciate good food and pudding. His mum is an excellent cook and the food at Hogwarts was also tasty and served regulary. As if it wasn't enough with his injury and the ever lingering bad self confidence. His brothers were head boys, or really popular, as is his only sister. His besties are
    1) the most famous boy in the wizarding world and
    2) the cleverest witch at her age, that Remus Lupin had ever met.
We see in movie one in front of The Mirror Of Erised that Ron's most intense wish was to not stand in everyone else's shadow, but to shine himself, to stand out in his own right.

Annoyingly, the mirror is never explained! It isn’t from the mirror of erised, it was a gift Sirius gave Harry to allow him to communicate with him. Harry never used it because he was scared that Sirius might do something rash and leave his hiding place in OotP. Irony is that if Harry had just used the mirror to talk to Sirius, he would have known Voldemort had faked the dream and Sirius was fine and he wouldn’t have died…
