The instructions in this video are not the same as in other Kwikset videos or the printed instructions that came with my doorknob. The others show the NEW key making TWO 180° turns, conducting the "test pull" to make sure the key does not come out, followed by a 90° counterclockwise turn to the original position. There is no second 180 or test pull shown here. What's up, Kwikset?

HELP‼ When I turn the current key to the 90 degree position, the door unlocks. I put the SmartKey tool in, then remove it. When I try to take the current key out while it's in the 90 degree position, it will not budge. I'm frustrated. I turned the key in the 90 degree position in both directions (away from and toward the lock), but neither works. Once the key is in that position, it will not come out.
Dog bumped into me while keying from supplied key to my house key, so the key jiggled around in the lock, now neither the new or the old key work. How do I solve this?

To begin the SmartKey rekey process, the original working key is needed. Without it, a rekey from the outside of your home is impossible. -- Kwikset Social
Hello there! Our locks featuring SmartKey Security can only be re-keyed directly on the key cylinder with a current working key and the SmartKey Learn Tool. Even if it's a double-cylinder deadbolt, you still need a current working key on the interior and exterior to re-key.
