Are you going to pick up a Kemper Profiler Player? What amp are you going to use first?

  • @GMRod
    @GMRod 7 месяцев назад +2

    Who is this for?
    Me. It's for me.
Just bought a guitar and don't have ANY guitar gear other than the guitar (and the Kemper player now).
Not needing to buy anything else or lug amps around = PEACEFUL LIFE.
    - Built in tuner
    - Interface
    - Can send stereo signal AND a balanced DI simultaneously
    - 50 presets
    - 21.000+ rigs built in
    - The tuner also mutes (or not, your choice)
    - Can be in the FX loop or before amp
    - Full control from iPhone/iPad
    - Can stream bluetooth and jam on top of it
Only thing missing now is for them to enable the double-button presses to get 5 commands instead of 3.
And for the unit to give some sort of error when you attempt to connect to WiFi and you typed the wrong password. That took me a frustrating minute to figure out.

As a 10-year owner of the Kemper Profiler, this almost fits my use case. I have occasional gigs and practice sessions. Carrying the Kemper with a MIDI foot controller was a real problem for me. For practice sessions, I tend to use whatever amp the studio has, rather than hurting my back. This will even fit in my fly gig bag. The only downside is the number of effects slots, which are 2 before the amp section and 2 after it. The compressor, the drive, the EQ, and an occasional wah are generally in my signal chain. Therefore, I may need some of those in pedal form.

    • @ryansnydercg
      @ryansnydercg  8 месяцев назад

Couldn’t agree more. The carrying the Footswitch with my Axe Fx is a big reason I don’t gig with it more often.
The only downsides are the 4 effects and not effects loop. Which to your point can be solved with other pedals

@@ryansnydercg I received my Kemper Profiler a few days ago and had the chance to use it during our rehearsal last night. Since I couldn't find the USB cable, I adjusted some of the factory presets to my preference. I must say, the experience was outstanding. It felt as though my Profiler head was right there in the studio. If they were to include all the original stompbox types in the Kemper Profiler head and eliminate the limitation of only two stompboxes before and after the amplifier, I would definitely be willing to pay more.

No midi, no fx loop, no screen and a high price tag are dealbreakers. The HX stomp has all of that far fewer limitations on fx blocks pre/post Amp AND a lower price.

I profiled my stealth and metaltronix amp for myself and love them. But that’s it. Just those 2. The rest were purchased. So this is a great way to get into kemper for less $$

im Kemper user and neural user..
if somebody think that the kemper rack is too big maybe they are not think in be a professional musician... one with 3 guitars in a show etc etc ..
The kempèr player is not for beginners because you need a computer and learn how to make your sounds... is not easy for everybody.
If somebody want a small pedal board .. maybe just a guitar 2 pedals an 2 cables and thats it.. and of course one amp..
Long time ago i think that kemper needs a small version but with your on sound, just for the peolple taht have any other version of the kemper family... if you limit my soun with 2 pre fx and 2 post effects without send and return etc etc that gear is not for the real users... of course if you have the money you can buy this but in a real environment ... why you need yto buy this if you have your kemper rack or the stage with all the power??? to reduce the space in your car?? the kemper is not a heavy gear....
in other side... the best is the QuadCortex... you have everything in small size with the best screen of the market with amazing sound.. you dont need to buy nothing with the real kemper or the QuadCortex..
If you want to reduce the size of your pedal board... thats not a real excuse because you need other pedals if you want to work or sound with the other gear...
3 buttons for 50 presets??? thats not good if you work with different artists or in a different projects..
700 dollars just for rehersals because the kemper rack or stage weight too much??? thats not good...
maybe if this plyer have 2 sen loops and you have an eventide h90... maybe i see the point of the player... and those 2 pedals are like the price of the quad cortex!!!!!

It can do stereo. According to the Kemper website:
“3 independently controllable output groups via XLR, Stereo Monitor, Stereo Headphone:
One ground-lifted XLR connects you directly to the FOH mixing desk at studio level, without the need for DI boxes.
Two TS jacks connect to your home studio or to one or two KEMPER Power Kabinets in full stereo.”

OR you use a rack mounted power amp like a matrix or similar (viz a viz your Axe FX rant). But, I get your point. My Axe FX (Now III Mk2) stays in my studio, and it's great there. You forget there is the TOnex Pedal out there, which does profile, does have full MIDI, but is limited on Effects, on board (Reverb and Delay). THis will sell and STAY (as in not be on the used market in a few months) with Kemper users that no longer want to drag their big units around, and for a small niche of people wanting to go digital, for not too much, that see them able to not have to use the software much AND have wanted he Kemper tone (and plan to buy profiles).

Kemper is always late to the game on what players want. At Sweetwater and American music, they finance line line 6 for one year or more, but Kemper's only 3 months. As cost have gone up, people need reasonable financing, Especially married people. Most won't go for a payment of over $200 for the player, much less the other Kempers which would be $700 a month. No one wants to finance one on a credit card with high interest either. I have a Fractal FM9 that I financed with a credit card. I don't want to do that again. Fractal in the best but poor marketing and not putting it on Sweetwater was a bad choice. Eventide, Line 6, and Strymon all give long finance times so people can afford to buy their product at Sweetwater. That is why Line 6 is best selling product. It is not about just being the best, but marketing is key for selling the best also. Fractal and Kemper missing the boat on sales.

What's next, a plastic toy guitar ? You could plug in a cheap $100 guitar into a profile amp, and it would sound the same as if you plugged in Jimmy Page's '59 Les Paul. A profile amp loses all the resonance, sustain, feedback, tone, or lack of such, from the hardware. It eliminates the instrument quality from the equation. So a Stratavarius violin would sound same as kid's Playskool toy violin. Nobody with a good ear will take you seriously, playing through a profiler amp. It's been described as sounding like a swarm of bees. Thats going to be at a yard sale someday for $10.

Going to disagree that the Profile Player is NOT the best thing for a new player. It's still a profile player, i.e. Amp snapshots. Amps at a particular setting. Beginner will not learn how to dial in an amp, how it reacts to eq and gain changes etc. Even with liquid profiling, Kemper still doesn't mimic these kinds of interactions well. Frankly for that new player, something like a Boss Katana, imho makes more sense. ANY of these floor models only make sense for someone Giging.
