I just bought my first tube amp a few days ago. Thanks so much for making me feel even more like the out-of-touch old fart that I am, Josh. Thanks a lot.
If you like the sound of that amp and it's dependable, you made a good investment. Kempers and digital gear loses value fast. Tube amps retain value and can gain value on the used market. Just find the tones you like and stick with the amp you like. Noone really needs 30 amp sims. If you like one amp, you like one amp... I use a wall of tube and SS Orange and PV amps with many different speakers. No Kemper can replace my wall or my analog dirt and modulation. If you are a knob fiddler, and not into presets. Tube or SS Jfets heads are perfect. What amp and cab did you get?
I only got back into guitar like early nov, right before i watched his last Kemper video (id never heard of them, in past been tube snob..) i ordered (and payed in full ) a boutique tweed deluxe, i love my tubes but Kemper is on the list for sometime next year for sure.
I sold the most of tube amps, I keep my deluxe reverb to play with friends but for practice and everything else, go to digital and never I been so happy. Even all the new guitar virtuosos use digital processors or plug ins, and they sound amazing.
What a surprise! But it really shows how great modeling has become. This was the year I left “proper” tube amps, switching out my Victory “The Copper” head for the pedal amp version (so not completely a modeler, as the preamp section is tube, but the power amp features modeling and Two-Notes cab sim) and honestly? I can’t tell the difference. Fits in my gig bag, weighs nothing and I can plug a set of headphones playing at home, plug in a cab to gig or just go line out to record. Never been happier.
I recently thought about why I haven't seen the episodes as regularly as I used to do... Maybe it's because of the fake sound... Who knows, not even me.
I usually do not comment in social media or RUclips, but I couldn't resist in this case. I wish I could be a shareholder or employee in a company like JHS. Your products and show are outstanding! Congratulations on your success and enyoable journey!
@ghost mall yeah! I have mine set up the same. I just added the Matthews Futurist for midi control over my delay, reverb, and modulation. It’s been a lot of fun and sounds great.
Will Smith, FTX, and now this. Just when we thought 2022 could not get any worse. We thought Josh was one of us. He is the Sam Bankman Fried of Lance Armstrong.
I’m serious we need a step-by-step guide on how you guys produce these jams. If I could record like that in my garage, I would be producing records every other week.
a while back they did a video called "How We Record A Song" and it went over their recording process, I'm sure the gear had changed a bit since then but the process will still work. I've done a ton of live-to-tape style recordings and I can tell you the biggest factors are 1, have enough recording inputs with clean AD conversion (I personally used an allen and heath qu series for years, and am currently using a midas MR 18), good enough mics (Mics matter, but the ROI drops of real quick once you get into the expensive stuff), good mic placement, as much seperation between sources as possible (smaller amps, baffling, room placement, and DI whenever it's a good idea) and then a bit of post production. It's definitely attainable, but buying all that gear yourself even on the affordable side definitely stacks up. I did it because I'm passionate about recording.
The Kemper is the greatest piece of Gear I have ever bought and for me cured my insatiable G.A.S. that I suffered with for years. Thanks Christoph Kemper!
This is hilarious! Now I want a pedalboard full of Kempers to stack gain from different apms as I always do with my amps: the fx loop send of the Fender into input of the Vox, the fx loop send of the Vox into the Marshal, and then, if it was not enough, into Revv Generator.
I’ve been such a amp modeler hater but I recently bought a kemper(it helps that it was used and loaded with great amps) but man it is INCREDIBLE. I’m blown away by the technology
Absolutely fantastic episode!! The jams were especially tasty!!! The models sound amazing! And I’m sure it’s super helpful in many ways for the production of the show. And super cool you’ve released some incredible amp models. Well done and we’ll played!
The Stoicism bit at the end absolutely killed me - actually the whole video killed and revived me multiple times, with each successful cycle erasing more of my corporeal form on the mortal plane. I am now a Specter. Thank you for allowing me to haunt my family this blessed Holiday season.
Amazing job guys. I love JHS videos. This humor remembers me Monty Python mixed with Brian Wampler YT channel. My deep respect folks for your work, in pedals and content.
This is a cautionary story. The Kemper ultimately leads to spam can slide guitar. Spread the word to all the guitarists you love before it's too late!!!
“Don’t worry, tube amps aren’t going anywhere.” Is that because they weigh so much? 😂 I just got a kemper to go with my helix. Can’t wait to profile my 1962 princeton, 1959 Gibson ga-5, and my Suhr hombre!
I noticed! That’s why I don’t watch your channel. I’m only commenting as this video was an ad on my feed. I’ll stick with my homemade partscasters and my home modified JCM900 4502. I’ll see you all at my gigs here in C.O.
Lol, this is gold. I scrolled through comments for a while but saw nothing from tube amp purists who can hear a fly cough at 100 yards and tell what it had for breakfast. Where are those guys?
Welcome to the digital world! Been a Helix user for years now, and I have NO desire to go back to hauling a tube amp around. I love the versatility and flexibility of the Helix (and by relation, the Kemper).
Anybody that shits on the Helix hasn't actually played one. It's the single greatest piece of guitar tech ever created. The interface is perfect and the sound is spectacular.
This is the best show on RUclips. My girlfriend knows nothing about guitars and still is entertained enough to watch this ridiculousness with me. Thank you for being you!
Thanks Josh. This video makes it so much easier to hear the digital harshness, the cold, sterile and much lower resolution in the digital gear. Seems like I've been having a "bad-ear-day" for an entire year. Glad that's been fixed! 👍
I loved the spam inclusion. For some reason, my grandmother thought I loved spam and bought it for me every Christmas. She has passed away and this is our first Christmas without her. Seeing the spam this time of year made me remember her and all the cans I've accrued over the years. Nothing like good tone and good food 😉
Busting guitar gear myths whether the community wants it or not AND advertising things to me that I didn't ever think I needed but sound so fun and good? I love this so much! 💖🤣🤣💖
@@chipsnmydip Id imagine its that you more than likely cant tell the difference between a real amp and a good kemper profile/Model in a blind test like a lot of people say they can
@@mfkrwill I think that probably matters the context. In a dense recording or live mix, maybe hard to tell the difference. Standing side by side with a real amp, not difficult. But truth be told the last few JHS videos I've watched I really didn't like Josh's tone, and figure it always sounded that way, or it was the pedal he was using.
I'm serious as a heart attack -- if folks take anything away from this, it's that you need to puncture the BOTTOM of the SPAM can for it to come out in one piece.
"He's got the cans!" I'm surprised the guys didn't have any peanut butter. It would go really well with all those jams... Edit: Also one of those solos felt like a pointless spam. I'm gonna leave the comment section now and do a walk of shame as my penance.
I remember when digital synths killed all the analog synths, and everybody dumped their analog synths for pennies. I didn't even have pennies to pick up those synths back then. Those old analog synths are now the secret basis for the value of the dollar (History of the value underpinning the value of the US Federal Reserve issued US Dollar: gold backed dollar -> Silver backed dollar -> petro dollar -> nuke dollar -> bioweapon dollar -> to finally the old analog synth backed dollar, notice gas prices have just come down, that's not because we live in a planned economy engineered openly, though unacknowledged by the corporate/governmental media, so essentially secretly, through the illegal creation of corporate monopolies and duopolies, no that's crazy, it's actually thanks to the new backing of the dollar by a handful of old analog synths held in Fort Knox, their value now in the multi-trillions of dollars [each] ). There was a time when you could find these synths in dumpsters of supposed back alleys, Yamaha's DX7 making the analog synths worthless. I couldn't capitalize on those near free analog synths back then, but when the herd starts dumping all of their tube amps for pennies on the dollar in favor of digital virtualizations, I'll swoop in and snatch all of those tube amps up. I'll warehouse them in a network of Deep Underground Modernless-amp Bases throughout the unoccupied middle-west of the US. After the planned Full Spectrum War is over, I'll emerge from my network of D.U.M.B.s, after having thoroughly jammed my way through the global bombardment, which strangely will only take just over a month, of software bombs, space-based exotic bombs, psionic bombs, nukelear bombs, bioillogical bombs, chemical pomps, dirty-filthy bombs, and even an assortment of conventional bombs like the prosaically named Daisy Cutters (my highschool band's name). And amidst the destruction and quiet upon the surface of the planet, I will fund the creation of the first and final global autonomously ruled state with a small selection of my tube amps, keeping a majority of my portfolio in reserve. I will erase the remains of cities, freeways, ports and the other now unrecognizable debris left over from the Full Spectrum War and the civilization that necessitated it. I will reseed the human population in select pockets around the planet, keeping these peoples at the stone age technological level. I will erect profoundly obscure massive megalithic monuments at geometrically significant, though totally irrelevant locations around the globe. I will strum the human population into peace through a network of geosynchronous low altitude satellite amplifier platforms. A space-based Bugera 333 at a mere 120 tube watts should be able to bathe several million square miles of geography in divinity level crushing harmonically dense and somewhat tonally contradictory chords, shaking the very ground my peoples will shudder in worship upon. So, keep up the good work Agent Scott, convince the human heard to abandon their tube amps and that antarctic archipelago you've had your eyes on will be yours once the Full Spectrum War is complete, and that frosty archipelago is relocated to balmier latitudes thanks to profound crustal displacement caused by the FSW. Your people will be my special people so long as you and they keep my two simple commandments: 1. Just try stuff. 2. But with nothing more than sticks and stones. The day even a handful of soil bearing even a few metallic flecks is smelted into an ingot will be the last day your archipelago remains above water. For your faithfulness to this covenant, you will receive once weekly Ernie Ball string pack drops for your seven guitars of choosing to own in perpetuity, and your Kemper with your eternal 12 profiles. On the seventh day, you will be permitted to serenade your people from atop your pyramid fortress through actual speakers, but through the six days, you will only monitor through headphones. Once this global state is created and running smoothly, my covenant with the celestial brotherhood will go into effect, my amp horde and I will be lifted from the face of the Earth, and travel the cosmos, visiting every room of our Father's Cosmic Mansion. And during the great time spans of this celestial travel I finally may even be able to hammer a few phrases into a complete song. It will be glorious.
I play live, I have kemper stages mounted to temple audio pedal board with wireless everything and it stuns people. I roll in with pedalboard plug direct to FOH grab guitar and go. Easy in and out. Setup time is couple min and can sound like anything.
@@thetruthexperiment yea. I owned one for over 10 years. They’re incredible but a bit lacking on the effects. I sold mine and just run my favorite tube amps into a captor X on stage for a really killer sounding DI sound. I only used profiles of my own amps so why not just use the real deal. For a studio tool though, the Kemper (and to and even greater extent, the AxeFX3, which I also recently sold after owning over a year) the digital stuff is HARD to beat.
Do you ever feel like you just end up using the same couple amps or do you change it up enough for it to be worth it? I am a fan of my analog dirt, modulation and mix of Orange and PV amp wall. I could see it being great for quiet studio and limited short overseas gigs. But can you blend a few amps and cab and speaker tones at once? Or is it a more single mono or stereo amp set up? I love my amp wall, the tones blend well. However, I do have to move a wall. If I get a modeler, I would hope I can build a virtual wall .. thoughts?
@@KelticKabukiGirl I have two profiles I use fairly consistently, but I do use a lot of different ones. You can mix and match amps/cabinets and then there's endless tweaking from there if you so desire. A lot of people don't like the technical side of it, but without sounding like too much a jerk, it seems a lot of them older folks who may have struggles with tech. It's really not difficult at all to dial in a sound you want. Finding the right profile as a foundation can be a little tougher because of the way they were modeled and what guitar was used etc...but the rig manager, which is kind of like the itunes but for Kempers, is loaded with 30k+ profiles and there's so many out there to purchase. So, to answer your question, yeah, you can. People complain about a "feel" difference. A few times I've noticed it, but again, it depends on your profile, guitar, speaker, and location. I actually find that the Kemper improves on a lot of amps. I can't describe why, but it feels like it brings some amps to life.
You guys are getting pretty good. at the "acting" thing! This show has come a long way from when you started. Awesome drum mix Nik.And Addison , great guitar faces! Josh, you are a certified kook & we love ya for.it. Keep it up boys.
If a vintage gear geek like Josh goes all in for Kemper, maybe there's something to it. The Kemper livestream you guys did last year with Tone Junkie is actually what pushed me over the edge to buy a Kemper Stage and leave my tube amps at home. I had tried Amplitube, Iridium, Sans Amp, Joyo, IR Loaders, etc. hoping to avoid shelling out the $$$$. Wish I'd have pulled the trigger 10 years (and about 2000 gigs) ago.
I've been resisting Kemper and the likes for since they breathed. Now even more so. I'll never go get a Kemper and press the "Ritchie Blackmore" button , lol. I'm even sure sure they don't have one. Josh, you rock, keep going what you're doing. Respect!
Love this and love what you did. My favorite local bands dont play tube amps, they put all their guitars, even live, through a korg ampworks sim, the one with the three big knobs. (they share members so it makes sense they all do this). another local band recorded their new record with the stock logic clean fender sim, which according to the entire internet, sucks bad; its one of my favorite albums this year. its funny that most of the local bands i see are a bore and the ones i like use the cheapest stuff possible. not that expensive stuff makes you boring, but you can do so much with very little. also, want to shout out my crush 20, its a solid state beast and i record the headphone output instead of miking it.

@@KelticKabukiGirl Right. I plan to buy a Kemper when I can get one for $200. 🙂
@@WarrenPostma I will just wait for Quantum computing to develop then see how they emulate tubes
I knew it, as soon as you revealed it, out of no where I suddenly realized that the jams this past year have sounded digital
laptop
Hahahahahaha
I recently thought about why I haven't seen the episodes as regularly as I used to do... Maybe it's because of the fake sound... Who knows, not even me.
i noticed the knobs on the amp on a few eqisodes but just thought hmmmm thats weird sounds good anyway
…did you now.
I usually do not comment in social media or RUclips, but I couldn't resist in this case. I wish I could be a shareholder or employee in a company like JHS. Your products and show are outstanding! Congratulations on your success and enyoable journey!
When i was putting my rig together it was, “choose an amp, or buy the iridium”. I went with the iridium and have been very happy.
@ghost mall yeah! I have mine set up the same. I just added the Matthews Futurist for midi control over my delay, reverb, and modulation. It’s been a lot of fun and sounds great.
This is probably the best Kemper AD - if not THE best AD I have ever seen. Would probably buy a Kemper now, if I did not already had one 😂
Been using a kemper for 7 (i think) years. I love it.
Things like that spice up our lives in a good old rare way. Bravo Josh!
Why is this show’s production value so good?
Cause we have the best media team!
Something just creepy about seeing the king make his subjects do his bidding. You guys are the best and a breath of fresh air
This may be the best video you guys have ever done….
thanks :)
I've watched a lot of episodes but this is the one that made me hit subscribe.
🙏🏼
Will Smith, FTX, and now this. Just when we thought 2022 could not get any worse. We thought Josh was one of us. He is the Sam Bankman Fried of Lance Armstrong.
I’m serious we need a step-by-step guide on how you guys produce these jams. If I could record like that in my garage, I would be producing records every other week.
That’s so funny. I hate their jams.
a while back they did a video called "How We Record A Song" and it went over their recording process, I'm sure the gear had changed a bit since then but the process will still work.
@@thetruthexperiment jesus get ratio'd kid
That jam during the Skylark was doooooope.
This is the best video ever uploaded to RUclips.
This totally started my day with a very welcome chuckle !
Absolute gold
Thank you
dang. these fellas are SUPER TALENTED at music and I feel like the more they play together for their videos the more amazing they sound!!!
That was a lot of fun. Thank you and happy holidays!
Amazing job guys. I love JHS videos. This humor remembers me Monty Python mixed with Brian Wampler YT channel. My deep respect folks for your work, in pedals and content.
Cheers from the brazilian audience.
Josh is now officially my favorite person on RUclips.
This is a cautionary story. The Kemper ultimately leads to spam can slide guitar. Spread the word to all the guitarists you love before it's too late!!!
I agree, Using bean cans is as far as you should go!
Man did you hear the difference in tone with two and then three Spam cans for slide?!? Unreal!
spam can slide is almost too perfect of a song name
“Don’t worry, tube amps aren’t going anywhere.” Is that because they weigh so much? 😂
I just got a kemper to go with my helix. Can’t wait to profile my 1962 princeton, 1959 Gibson ga-5, and my Suhr hombre!
💪🏼
I love the photo of Josh holding his last hit of Kemper, on the phone with his Kemper dealer trying to get more sweet sweet Kemper.
It's clear to me now that what this channel needed was more beans and spam. Vast improvement! Keep up the great work.
I had a 93 blues Deluxe ..then bought another 25 yrs later.. ..( replaced the speaker, Fromel mod, shellaced the tweed....its amazing..
I noticed! That’s why I don’t watch your channel. I’m only commenting as this video was an ad on my feed. I’ll stick with my homemade partscasters and my home modified JCM900 4502. I’ll see you all at my gigs here in C.O.
you could tell after the digital editing, youtube compression, and listening on your computer or smart phone?
This was one of the best shows you have ever done! Sooooo gooood! LOL
@@JustinLesamiz It is a pretty killer piece of gear. The only weakness I see in it is the synth effects are pretty weak IMO.
That picture of Josh holding the Kemper and pumping gas got me pretty damn good.
This is even better than expected.
the coolest episode yet
This seems like such a fun show to make.
This is the best show on RUclips. My girlfriend knows nothing about guitars and still is entertained enough to watch this ridiculousness with me. Thank you for being you!
Well played! You fooled us! The practicality of recording/re-amping through a modeler or profiler is understated and underrated.
How did I just now stumble across this hilarious episode!!
Thanks Josh. This video makes it so much easier to hear the digital harshness, the cold, sterile and much lower resolution in the digital gear.
Seems like I've been having a "bad-ear-day" for an entire year. Glad that's been fixed! 👍
This ep is why I love this show/channel as a whole. If this were on Netflix I would binge.
The JHS Show is just becoming The Office
haha yes
This is not a bad thing.
great call.
What do you mean “just”? ;)
....almost....
What's the myth?
@@chipsnmydip Id imagine its that you more than likely cant tell the difference between a real amp and a good kemper profile/Model in a blind test like a lot of people say they can
@@mfkrwill I think that probably matters the context. In a dense recording or live mix, maybe hard to tell the difference. Standing side by side with a real amp, not difficult.
But truth be told the last few JHS videos I've watched I really didn't like Josh's tone, and figure it always sounded that way, or it was the pedal he was using.
@@chipsnmydip lmao you're lying but its ok
@@sirkeyzmusic I'm lying? Wow.
This was highly bizarre but equally hilarious and entertaining! I’m on the fence between line 6 and Kemper but this video definitely made my mind up
I love that Rhett is looking at Hello Kitty Strats on his computer!😻😻😻😻
Omg, hadn't even noticed it. This just gets better and better
Really entertaining video. Love the Kemper and the Quad Cortex. Leave the heavy expensive amps at home and use the Kemper live!
I'm serious as a heart attack -- if folks take anything away from this, it's that you need to puncture the BOTTOM of the SPAM can for it to come out in one piece.
Omg right!? I almost had an aneurysm watching Josh scoop the cube out of the tin.
You guys are so awesome! Your comedic timing is impeccable.
Favorite jam of the show so far
Best ever show! Was a blast! Must have! Cheers from switzerland!
He doesn't have all those boxes
They're reissues made by Behringer using the same cardboard as the original.
And now I hear the jingle "He doesn't have the Box!". Annnnd now it's in your head too
"He's got the cans!"
I'm surprised the guys didn't have any peanut butter. It would go really well with all those jams...
Edit: Also one of those solos felt like a pointless spam.
I'm gonna leave the comment section now and do a walk of shame as my penance.
CHECKMATE
I have a kemper box profile it was only $1000
I remember when digital synths killed all the analog synths, and everybody dumped their analog synths for pennies.
It will be glorious.
fuckin rad
I don't own a Kemper, and this episode alone won't entice me to buy one. However after watching this episode I am extremely hungry.
This was a FANTASTIC show. So good Josh. I have a Kemper and can't wait to get these profiles... right after I finish this can of Spam.
As a Kemper user for the past 4 years, I am dying laughing at this, imagining the "purists" losing their minds.
Pretty much boomer blooz dads
I play live, I have kemper stages mounted to temple audio pedal board with wireless everything and it stuns people. I roll in with pedalboard plug direct to FOH grab guitar and go. Easy in and out. Setup time is couple min and can sound like anything.
I'm a purist and honestly couldn't care less.
So, they sound good through house PAs? Or what? I’m all for it but I have trouble believing they’re good for any old PA. Please advise!! Stat!!
This show is my favorite piece of content.
I've had my Kemper for a few years and it's probably the best purchase I've ever made. Every day I look forward to turning it on.
that's awesome!
@@jhspedals I hope at some point in my life, I'm also able to turn you on every day too
Do you ever feel like you just end up using the same couple amps or do you change it up enough for it to be worth it?
The commitment to the bit is exceptional, all "amps" sound killer. Nice work
thank you!
Btw. Always good fun to see JHS videos. You have to be really humour resistent to not like them.
Brilliant. Love to meet Josh. You rock.
This is an episode I will watch reruns of for years! So well done, I was laughing so hard! 😂🤣🤪
I've been resisting Kemper and the likes for since they breathed. Now even more so. I'll never go get a Kemper and press the "Ritchie Blackmore" button , lol. I'm even sure sure they don't have one. Josh, you rock, keep going what you're doing. Respect!
Every time I watch the JHS show I regret that I didn't watch the previous one
Very happy to see more of Belle - she's so fun. Keep it up!
Love this and love what you did. My favorite local bands dont play tube amps, they put all their guitars, even live, through a korg ampworks sim, the one with the three big knobs. (they share members so it makes sense they all do this). another local band recorded their new record with the stock logic clean fender sim, which according to the entire internet, sucks bad; its one of my favorite albums this year. its funny that most of the local bands i see are a bore and the ones i like use the cheapest stuff possible. not that expensive stuff makes you boring, but you can do so much with very little. also, want to shout out my crush 20, its a solid state beast and i record the headphone output instead of miking it.
it's only intro and I like it already))
upd: It's Hilarious! One of your best videos! Great sounds, great gear, great plot, great acting!
There’s no way ur locking me into a effects company bunker with josh, his digestive system, and cans of spam and beans. Nfw.
