People keep saying the original has better delivery, which I do agree, but they miss the thing about the intended audience. Japanese tv dramas are known to be exceedingly dramatic with over-the-top facial expression, crazily emotional tone of voice etc. So the Japanese are more used to this kind of "unrealistic/unnatural" style which does not necessarily reflects the skills of voice acting and whatnot. In order words, it is "localized" to cater the Japanese audience. Tldr, people have different expectations.
As someone from a country, where most english media is localised, I can say that hearing the same dozen voices across the whole media gets kinda lame - when each film has different actors with their own voices and expressions you get the same couple voice actors trying to do more or less the same couple voices. TLDR: localisations are worse most of the times

The Japanese dub doesn't sound as good as the original in this case IMO but that's probably because I'm so used to original English one. However you can tell that the dub isn't trying to mimic the English tones, instead they are adapting it to something that sounds natural in Japanese media. Jesse's japan dub (especially in early seasons) probably is a better example because he just sound like the typical Japanese yankee in any anime.
