Academy City. The greatest and the most delicate story stage contraption among all of light novel series.
It's very unique and conceptually brilliant compared to other fantasy LN settings.

If Touma was into idols and singing, Academy City would be the popular music and musical capital of the world! X-Factor would be a daily occurrence, epic rap battles rage across the streets, there would be spontaneous musical numbers about everyday situations.
If Touma was into acting and movies, Academy City would be have replaced Hollywood. Every character would have a different role every appearance because of their acting gigs. Judgement would be fighting off invading armies of paparazzies.
A prequel story about aleister and AC’s beginnings would be so good.

People say the AC is an esper development experiment, but it really is an Imagine Breaker development experiment.
The more I learn of the history of Academy City the more I respect Allister’s ability to plan. Bet he’s a hell of a chess player. Also do find it odd the amount of violence that occurs involving children. Scientist treat them like animals for progress in experiments. Also the police are pretty much useless.

Academy City itself has always been one of the most interesting parts of the Index world. You could expand further on this video to some of the inner workings if you wanted to. A video running down the list of most dark side organizations or the specific board of directors would be interesting. How other nations view Academy City is interesting too. You don’t have to explain every conflict because that would take too long, but a few of the major conflicts and wars that Academy City gets into would be really cool.
I'd like to do a video about the politics of the series as a whole one day so that might be included in that.
The end of the series is seemingly leading to when imagine breaker turns the world into a non supernatural place.
Ah the windowless building, I still remember when accelerator throw a whole building into it and the building keep standing strong like nothing happen 😅

What do you think of the Heavens Canceller/ Allen Bennet connection? Sure, he himself has no clue of it, but if Mina who worked with that guy for years comes to that conclusion, without much bs-ing on Noukans and HCs part....

It's difficult at times, as I work a full time job in addition to doing RUclips, and other commitments such as family and having social life. I just try find a balance and devote a bit of time each day working on a video, or go crazy one day a week to get the video ready. One day I would love to RUclips full time but that's just a dream for now haha!

I think if part of the reason Academy City was built was revealed to the city dwellers, I guess part of the city dwellers would find a way to kill Touma like Phase Alpha NT9
Part would see him as messiah, another part would see him as devil, others would try stay as far away as possible and other part fall in love with him.

Something new I learned about the series is that from a lore perspective if Touma had been able into cooking, the story could’ve very easily turned into Shokugeki

Because that was what my education was for is kinda a theme of the series.
So, Aliester wants to get rid of magic completely, why exactly?
His daughter Lilith was fated to die before she was born, as a result of the sparks of the phases, as a consequence of magic. By destroying magic and the phases, it will re-establish the Pure World ruled by only scientific laws, and will provide equal opportunities for all with no one fated to die or fail.
This is what I remember,
Due to Magic and the way it works works. Nearly all usage of magic is capable of producing *sparks and spray.* this is due to the collision and interation between phases with each other. This sparks and spray have a tendency of creating destiny and fate in Toaru and because Aleister's daughter was fated to die(Aleister foresaw her death and tried his best to avoid it) Aleister began to hate magic and tried to find ways to eliminate it completely so that Sparks and Spray would cease to exist, meaning no more predetermined fate or destiny, everyone now has equal chances with no fortune or mistfortune hindering or helping them.

One question, if touma hadn't defeated Fiamma and allowed his power to grow, could Fiamma become as powerful as a Magic God?
He had access to Index's controller with all her knowledge, so maybe if he took the time to analyse her grimoires... maybe. Since Index was stated that she could become a Magic God if she could use magic willingly.
After watching the anime (index and railgun) I still am puzzled by one mystery: How do they keep these espers in line and not have them start dominating normal humans? How are teachers and adults not being disrespected by these kids?
Wdym "normal humans"? 80% of the population of the city are Espers, and 60% of those are powerless Level 0.
Basically, only 20% of people in Academy City are actually normal, and most of them are adults.
if you saw Railgun you would know they have devices to counter espers, only people that aren't affected are normal humans and Touma which I'm pretty sure his Imagine Breaker would snuff the source causing the problem
only one that usedmagic was accelerator to heal last order.

So is that why Touma is his greatest creation?? Because he can erase both magic and esper powers?? If I wanted to erase magic from the world he would be a boon. Along with Accelerator I suppose considering he can literally manipulate any laws he can understand but definitely Touma
I still don't get one thing about Academy city which is if the higher ups of Academy city were so paranoid about the level 5s rampaging against them, they could have just developed some sort of a small robot which would go inside the esper's body and destroy their brains or something, I mean developing a kill switch should be much more cheaper and easier to build than a bunch of super expensive and chaotic cyborgs or an elevator to space

I mean... Destroying their brains would be a massive waste considering how rare and valuable Level 5s are. I believe the counter measures weren't necessarily designed to kill them in case they rampaged but more force them into submission. Like how Accel rampaged in the city when he was merely a kid, that would have been a huge waste to kill him simply because he did that.

@@Oueenazolatigressgina on misakas side the field is passive generated without doing anything for it, so she dont have to pay activity attention at all. it's the same with accels passive reflection before touma, he generated it once and it is there, no further effort needed.

In short Aleister is my husband and that's all what To Aru series is about. All the rest is just decoration

Well Misaka was worth a lot as only her power could be used to create the clone network which is crucial for Aiwass, or Accel's potential as a weapon. But yeah the others aren't really worth much to Aleister lol.

In the real world, Japan did not surrender in WWII because of the atomic bombs: that was only the US hoping that they would, and the narrative they pushed afterwards to justify them. What triggered the surrender was that it was likely that Japan would be invaded by the USSR, and the US was considered to be the lesser evil.
With the US, Japan would be able to keep their emperor, their religion and culture - under USSR they would not.
Perhaps in the long term, but a full scale Soviet-led invasion of Japan would have taken a long time. It's pretty obvious why Japan were considering to surrender at this point regardless: it was the nukes. Prior to that the Japanese mindset was to never surrender as it was dishonourable, and dying was preferred. Hirohito surrendered to save his own skin from being nuked.

Okay so the moment I heard about the first esper being a girl and being put on ice deuter uncontrollable power is now making me think there has to be a moment where she gets unfrozen goes on a rampage Touma somehow calms her down and then she becomes of the newest member of his harem. I would not be surprised if that is exactly what happens. I haven't read the light novels so I don't know if that has already happened, unfolded in a way that is completely opposite to what I described or hasn't happened yet. I mean he basically has rule 63 Odin as part of his hand so why not the first esper as well.
I think that already happened in a prequel story called a certain magical index SS biohacker

The Index novels are pretty good at explaining magic and giving it solid laws that don't feel like bs. Kamachi intended the magic to be more like a science.

Having watched nearly all of the anime, and found it's writing utterly lacking, I am disinterested in reading the LN's. This is not without good justification...
Arifureta and Slime were similarly fun anime, both LN's had abhorrent writing. I'm not going to torture myself for months, when a 1 hour playlist covers the important parts of the story.
