Toaru series will never truly die as long as fans are still out there. Could you take a look at Spice and Wolf now? It already has a reboot faithfully. True fans will continue to buy the copy. Yen Press is doing great work in spreading to Western fans. It is indeed overtaken by the Isekai genre these days. In terms of original genre concept & potential, Toaru series is the one that stands out when Isekai isn't introduced to the light novel industry. Basically, Toaru is already the king of the light novel for the original genre during the old golden era competing with the prime SAO.
"While Touma appears weak on the outside, but has a willpower that surpasses logic itself". Yeah, it took millions of loops to break him. Good luck trying that without the ability to remake the universe itself (or "coat it" in a layer of paint, I should say).
Its crazy to think that we are at the 20th anniversary and for me almost 10 since i got into it (2014 the anime and 2016 the novels and manga), being a spanish fan i wish I could show this to my friends so they undertand the greatness of toaru as a whole. It's my favorite fictional universe and that doesn't seem to change any time soon. I actually don't care if it never reaches te popularity of other novels in the west, it makes this franchise one for those with taste and culture rather than the all time favorite full of people that just follow a trend. Still I want it to recieve the treatment it deserves, I've thought for a while the fact that the gatcha game has more care and quality than the whole index anime is not only sad but frustating. Nevertheless I'm so excited for everything that will be announced this year, having both GT and anbu no ITEM is making this year stacked with PEAK though.
Accidentally learning about Toaru, got me invested to the story, characters, power system and eventually the LN. Can't wait for the future of Toaru and hope we get answers of Aiwass's existence, the origins of first Magic Gods, the secret chiefs, the resolution and existence of the other phases and what is Imagine Breaker's connection to the Invisible thing and the Dragons. I don't want the phases that exist in Toaru to just be referenced instead of traveling or looking into it more. I want the Index manga get to WW3 already.
I'm truly happy I got in these series when I was young, this series was one of the things that got me into anime with the other being Ippo since my dad loved boxing
even if im a fairly new fan all things considered compared to the monolith 20 years this series has been around for, this video made me feel pretty nostalgic and sentimental for the series, its genuinely a franchise ill never forget, thank you kamachi for making this and thank you aeon for your commitment to giving us fans in the west something to be excited for from a fan perspective🙏
i love me some toaru started with the index anime, loved it so much that i wanted to read the LN, currently reading through NT1 W video as always, also inspired to be a author and adding a toaru reference in my story.
32 episode split core season 3 remake would be better than a season 4, in my opinion, and with the 20-year anniversary here, maybe. Just maybe 🎉Happy 20th anniversary🎉
Toaru still effects me till today. I named a group chat of some of my friends, Uiharu. It was the name of our guild in a game we used to play. Also one of my nicknames/alias is Biri Biri.
I started reading The Old Testamanet Omnibus on April 6 this year. So far I'm on page 480/1640 (vol 7). It's pretty fun so far and I'm most looking forward to the original, uncompressed, version of season 3 after I read all of the character and world building source Accelerator's still my favorite character ♥
Hey Aeon. How are you doing? I had a thought about what I would really like to happen for this 20th anniversary. Season 4 of the anime would be fantastic, but I would be thrilled to get a full cast recording of the light novels. I heard that that is being done for the Harry Potter series and I can't help but wonder what that would be like for the Index series. It has been incredible listening to the audiobook versions of the Spice and Wolf series. Just a thought.
Honestly, I expected you to do something like Ranking all the Story Arcs in Index, or add the Accelerator (Since there's only 2) & Railgun Arcs (maybe including the filler arcs) for the 20 Year Celebration. I don't think we'll get anything Index related this year, unless it's Accelerator Season 2.
BTW not sure if your familiar with him, But Brandon Sanderson is basically the Western Writer counterpart to Kamachi, multiple magic systems in his work, expanded universe, his writing is often criticized for his lack of "prose," and he's also known for having the same consistency and borderline compulsion to write where its become a meme within the Western Fantasy Literature fandom.
If you think about it how simple is Toaru Proiect as a whole in some powers and effects it will be probably one of the easiest to adapt in live action when it will happen, One Piece got a live adaptation and with the little modifications its much better in many aspects than the anime.
The thing I don't see with other fandoms is that Index fandom usually can criticizes the series, while most other fandoms usually just pray their series without any thought and refuse to aknowledge any flaws the series they like has
Okay, so from what I am hearing. Watch S1 of Index, S1 and 2 of Railgun, then S2 of Index and S1 Accelerator, then S3 of Railgun and like...how do I continue Index from there since the 3rd season is shit? Do I read the manga or something?
I feel like my main complaint with the series is that there are too many characters and not enough characterization/development outside of Accelerator. Still, I have a huge amount of respect for the series.
Who cares about MHA? look at Hajime no Ippo and One piece. They are much older than MHA. We are celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of the MOST successful and long-running LNs out there, not MHA.
To me what makes the Railgun series more popular than it's main source matheriar is that the SPR system is *WAY* better writen than the magic one, at least in the anime, instead of throwing off disconected religious beliefs the scietific side explore many conseps on a unic way and tie them up on a coesive scenario. Also, Mikasa actually got a fair amount of character development in both series while Index became an annoying mascot after her introduction arc was over, unsurprisingly making Mikasa the most popular heroine.
Nah, everyone knows that it's popularity is thanks to the director adapting Railgun like it was a moeshit, cute girls doing cute things anime, and shitted in the source material.
