In my opinion this was Anette's best performance of that song, and the others fall flat. Tarja didn't fail to satisfy. I like both voice types and have preferences for their use.

I just watched a 2022 Nightwish video and, once again, was totally swept away by Floor and left in awe that such an amazing singer can exist, but my God do I miss Anette being in Nightwish. Really good version, Anette transforms the song, from the alluring and bewitching Tarja's vibe to a more sorrowful and melancholic feeling. Like in the original version the siren is powerful and wants to trap the sailor with no remorse and in this one it is like the siren fell in love with the sailor and is calling him back to her.
What can I say. She is definitely one of the best ever. Her voice has gotten me through bad times and has been their at the best of times as well. Love the woman.

She really makes this her own. People love to hate on her and I think objectively she is the least skilled of the three singers of Nightwish so far (though I do still like her a good amount) but she has some amazing moments, like this performance.

While Tarja's remains my favourite with her rich classical vocals (and that wonderful back chilling middle eastern style chant in the middle -you'll know the bit that I mean, if you've heard it), this is actually rather good! Anette isnt a classical singer and so she did her own thing with it... and it worked!

Well, I still think the best version of this song is the one Tarja was performing on her tour in 2009 at Summerbreeze and hamburg. However, I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by how well Anette did here and this is definitely much better than some of floor's renditions of this song on their 2016 tour. Some of those performance were just terrible and make you wonder what went wrong. That's kinda surprising because floor is said to have some classical training and you would expect that would help her on this song. Anyway, I applaud Anette here. She does a pretty good job of handling a song that's outside her comfort zone. Clearly Anette gets a lot less credit than deserves and a lot of harsh criticism she doesn't!

That's how the real Siren should sound like. Raw, cold, mesmerizing, powerful. Even if she's not the best singer, she is for sure the best Siren.
