The lyrical writing and composure is why I ultimately prefer the older NW songs, the newer ones well lyrically-speaking, are just like someone switched on AI and let it roll. Not what I got used to, or expected from NW. Bands change artistically, I get that, but I like what I like and when the sun starts to set I accept that and just cherish the memories.

I never got what the problem with people who hated Anette was. I enjoyed Tarja, I enjoyed Anette, I enjoy Floor. This song is great and Anette's voice is beautiful here. Not many singers can sound so similar to what they sound on record. No matter what the Tarjamaniacs stuck in opera say, Anette is a very good contemporary singer and I LOVE her version of this song. She brought me to Nightwish, not Tarja. It was Anette's charm and voice that made me start listening to this band.

@@HK-gm8pe People mainly hate her because she's vastly different from Tarja which Nightwish army were used to, and her voice is lower. Secondly, both Tarja and Anette are equally good. Anette's voice is full, warm, robust , well projected and focus, her lows are literally the best within the genre, and her highs are piercing. However, she's a lower centered voice, and with female singers, people glorify high voices way more than lower or middle voice, even if the lower of middle voice are stronger. Furthermore, she's overworked with having to sing materials slightly higher for her voice, with Nightwish most notorious tours. Higher parts of songs are the only part she's inconsistent while middle, low and everything else work tremendously well. Put the best singers in her position where they need to sing materials too high or too low with heavy tours with little to no rest, they would crumble. The fact that Anette held on and becoming even stronger over time, showcased her prowess while, other singers would've tapped out or succumbed. In regards to her not heard in videos, you do realize many of Anette's videos are in lower quality, but there are lots of ones with good sound out there if only people search. Never underestimate her, many female metal singers wouldn't match her stamina and support. People love to hate on her because they're ignorant on voice evaluation.

It was Amaranth that gave me a first taste of Nightwish and I am forever always thinking of Annete if I hear Nightwish mentioned, all 3 singers are powerful in their own right, but yes Anette couldn't hit all the ranges the way some of thr Tarja songs could go but Anette is a strong contemporary singer and she still brings a strong aspect to the Nightish Era

I can't believe how Anette improved herself between DPP and Imaginaerum. Back in 2007-2008-2009 while she was singing this song, she sounded like she was excessively forcing and pulling her chest voice out to get the chorus. (That's not something bad, for me, it's extremely hard to sing this song with pure chest voice as it was composed for a pure classical head voice) But here Anette sounds like she has more control over her chest voice and not forcing at all. Even if she's still pulling her chest voice out, she probably somehow found a way to do it without tension.

She didn't sing the Melody lines, she sang the Harmony part which was a better part for her voice. The Melody is the hardest part to keep up with. The Harmony lines above the Melody and below it are much better and richer for her style of singing. While Marko sings the Melody at the end, it shows how much singing the Harmony parts improve your voice.

Due to many reasons that are honestly irrelevant right now, but a good example are those choir sopranos who stick to that section because they don't want to bother with the whole sight singing thing lol. I really think deciding to sing the harmony parts was a pretty smart choice that made Anette truly shine.

Never thought I'd say this, but Marco actually screwed up the end of the song with his vocals. It's okay, tho, since it wasn't planned to be sung like that in the original version of the song and he's actually just adding a little "strenght" to Annie's voice.
HOWEVER, many "Nightwish fans" (aka Tarja-is-the-only-frontwoman-in-the-world) may hate me, but I actually developed myself as a Nightwish fan by listening to Annete (and Floor, as well) singing the old stuff. I've always thought they were monsters, harmony-wise, but I didn't like Tarja vocals at all (I do, nowadays). The reason for that is, in live shows, I couldn't understand A WORD of what she was singing. Annete brought, IMO, a much more "clear" sound to the band. But, then, I remind myself that Tarja wasn't singing in her first language - but Annete and Floor are also non-native speakers, so that actually raises a controversy.
Basically, what I'm saying is: For me, yes, Tarja is a great singer, but her lirical style is a little bit "overloved". Shame to the ones who don't know that Nightwish is still GREAT after 2005. And it's also jawdropping to see the difference between Olzon singing this very song in 2008 and the Imaginaerum tour - wich, for me, was their best.

That's because opera isn't thought of in an English tongue. Tarja and Floor are high sopranos with English as a second or third language. Anette on the other hand, has a story telling voice with a contemporary and feisty feel. And that's something us native English speakers tend to relate to.

Anette brought something special and different to Nightwish. Tarja was great, but Anette was something fresh, something new and she fitted in perfectly. I will miss her too. It's just a pity that Tuomas has now got rid of 2 very talented singers. It makes me wonder if there will ever be another going with the track record that this band has now. I'm just really glad that both Anette and Tarja continue singing and I hope they grow bigger and better than Nightwish ever will.

Just accept the fact that Anette is a median singer, at least live. They felt that they wouldn't be doing the band any favors if they hired another classically trained operatic singer, because the level of scrutiny would've been even worse than it was. I am not the biggest Anette fan, but she was chosen because they wanted different direction and she did a good job given the circumstances. Many people just never let Tarja go and never gave Anette a chance.

With all the love and respect people have by Anette - also should come honesty.
She is good singer - on the songs made to her. Anette is a different soprano, with a different voice and technique - Ever Dream is by far suited for her voice and technique, she was dodging the notes in the end. The climax was not o.k. So many moments you can think she is a studio singer, but very unconfortable with Nightwish complex repertoire by the old singer.
What she delivery in studio is far from the live performances.
This does not make her a bad singer - the way she is singing is not sharped enought, that's all.

My personal opinion for this song...
Tarja > Floor > Anette
I love Floor with all my heart, but I find it that she screams too much in this song and kind of kills the vibe. Maybe if she used her operatic voice it would sound... softer? Anette has a really beautiful voice, but she seems to be strugling here, it's a little painful to watch. And Tarja, well, I figure this song was written with her voice and style in mind, she sounds a lot more comfortable singing it and it is easier on the ears.

Actually some metal heads back when Night Wish first started cried about their appearance,look and over all style.They said why the hell would anybody hire a classically trained opera singer and whats up with the long victorian style dresses?
