That's too early! THE event for 2024 will be the release of the new Nightwish album. Casting votes before that has happend is premature and pointless!

@@MetalAwardsorg Ok, thanks for the info!
Singer of the year has to be Tatiana.
Where is Melissa Bonny? I think she deserves a spot too.
Honestly surprised that Tatiana Shmayluk didn't show up a single time, considering how many reactions to Jinjer there are on youtube. But the fact that all three Nightwish frontwomen were floating around the top spots over the years, and both Tarja and Floor holding those top spots for so long shows just how great they are!
the author of the charts simply didn't include Tatiana in the list, so she wasn't tracked - as with every statistics, take it with a grain of salt
@@dwightk.schrute8696 Why did I read this in Dwight's voice.
I dont think they were chosen by the YT creator. I think these are search results and people will search for Jinjer not Tatiana.
this chart is basically symphonic metal with a couple of others thrown in like Lzzy Hale and Sumetal but missing many others
@@swankysweller With that line of thought, people would search for Nightwish, Within Temptation and Arch Enemy, not the respective vocalists either lol
is shocking how TARJA remain on tops of the list for 19 fucking years straight, she is like the michael jackson female metal voice on the music industry
This is a ranking of internet searches, so Tarja probably gets a boost from Floor's immense popularity: people hear Floor, discover Nightwish, and then get curious about the band. (I discovered her in exactly that roundabout way.)
Both women, of course, have the advantage of singing Tuomas' compositions.
@@jpdemer5 boost? dude, she doesn't need to be boosted in anything. These new Nightwish fans are so dumb...
lol@@jpdemer5
Tuomas had the advantage of forming a band with Tarja and Emppu and picking up Jukka and Sami right after.
I liked Floor 20 years ago, but her old band was short-lived, exhausting artistic potential, and never that successful (even tho they have some total masterpieces). I actually forgot about her for almost 5 years. I never forget about Tarja, as opera is my thing and led me to NW, and I liked her both as a Nightwish and solo metal singer, and as a classical stage performer. Both women can showcase their skills no matter what material they work on.
If Tuomas didn't have Tarja and Emppu to perform his compositions he would remain maybe a richer but not so famous ghost writer for other artists ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Потому что Тарья - эталон.
@@haineko1989 I watched Revamp with Floor Jansen live in Norway back in 2013.

If Lzzy Hale is considered metal, then we are missing Taylor Momsen and Amy Lee. And hoping someday the great Brittany Slayes from Unleash the Archers gets her just due!
There is no hard border between metal and hard rock. With songs like "Miss Nothing" it's hard to not recognise them as metal. At same way you could say Ozzy is not metal what could be completely wrong.
While Halestorm sounds for me more pop than metal or rock.

Underrated is the most overrated word. No, Anneke is not underrated. Unknown is a better word. The ones who do know about her, recognize her talent. I love Su and Floor
Tarja and Floor with great music, Sharon with a beautiful voice and Suzuka with a metal concept different from other bands, a different language and amazing acts and stages. These three bands are my favourites.
ЯИр за Флор вообще такая? О_О
I'm impressed by Nakamoto Susuka who entered the top 10 in her 17 and never left it since until now even the time when they were on a hiatus...
I think the only reason she isn't bigger is because she's fronting a project that is extremely unique and sings mostly in japanese. If they had more songs in all english or if they were simply pure metal/rock I think it be a different story. Ramstein is a good example. I know a lot of people who don't know german who listen and love the band but they are a single genre and don't straddle 2 worlds like BM.
I don't even think she is a metal singer. I think she is a pop singer fronting a pseudo metal band. Pretty decent range, no distortion and no vibrato at all. Nothing to land her on a top metal singer list that excludes Tatiana Shmayluk.
@@Paul-jj5wy It's by popularity not by how good she sings
@@Paul-jj5wyshe's a metal singer because her peculiar timbre let her sing on pretty heavy music without being overwhelmed, but yeah, she cannot scream, her voice is too clear. Her duets with Halford show that, she can easily reach all the notes, but it's like playing metal on an acoustic guitar😅. BTW, she has a wider range now, she's stronger in the lower range, but she has some holes, she's aware of that and carefully avoid those notes.
Anyway most of the women here are Opera singers and she's in that range.
🤘🏻🦊⚡
@@Paul-jj5wy Just like Tarja Turunen, Floor Jansen, Simone Simons or Anette Olzon have been always considered as metal singers, SU-METAL is indeed a metal singer. BABYMETAL is a metal group (not a band, the three girls don't play even if Moa can play th guitar) because they are defined this way, their music is metal and they use many of the folklore of this genre.
With Floor branching out and doing solo projects, I’m fairly certain she will remain the queen of female vocalists for a good while to come….
She’s not the queen
Su-metal is an absolute legend for being there at only 16-17 years old
Surprised that Lori Lewis, Tatiana Shmayluk, Melissa Bonny, Diana van Giersbergen, Heike Langhans, Clemetine Delauney and Asami never appeared. But glad that Anneke van Giersbergen and Marcela Bovio popped up. Also glad about Suzuka's (Su-Metal) strong performance.
Justine Daaé, Marina La Torraca, Amanda Sommerville, Anna Brunner
Nora Louhimo
That chart really demonstrates when each band had member changes and or new album coming out. Love it
Or a world tour (Babymetal). Or a pandemic lockdown related boost to (metal) music reaction channels all over the world who kinda simultanously reacted to one single band (Floor since 2020). Floor was my no.1 since the early 2000s, but it's got quite a lot to do with being at the right place at the right time.
@@olgahein4384 I totally relate with you! I met Floor in 2004 with After Forever and I have followed her career since then. She has been my favorite singer of all times. I am shocked by the fact that Tatiana Shmayluk from Jinjer is not on this chart. It is a tragedy. She is one of the greatest female singers of all time.
Ikr? Seems a little bit sus, considering that Jinjer has one of the most viewed videos of the bunch.
Tarja was a gamechanger! She's a goddess! Floor is glorious!
Tarja practically owned the whole thing, but yes, since 2019 so many Floor reactions were here and there. Also, Doro is timeless

Cristina Scabbia forever 💖
I like the Metal Galaxy boost for Su in 2019 😁
the moment when Floor was top 1: JUSTICE!
I don’t care about the numbers, floor Jansen is the most talented female vocalist across multiple genres, she belts, operatic, falsetto, she even screams. Her voice is beautiful and trained in every possible way
So cool to see that Suzuka Nakamoto is on the list and never left the top 10 😊
Nightwish WINS
Flawless Victory. Fatality 😊
Only the last year's but for trajectory Tarja wins it all
Tarja the queen forever
My loving singer still is Tarja Turunen because i met and i love NW and symphonic metal because of her but i love many more singers and bands with female vocalists.
Every one is unique and has something different which i can't compare.
In my opinion Anette's era was more difficult after Tarja's departure and she has done fantastic job, put NW even higher and Floor found a great band to become the new singer.
So i have big respect to Anette and i continue to follow her in solo career, the dark element and projects with Magnus Carlson.
Love Anette, kind of sad how short her "reign" on the top of this list was. Still, I have always been a huge Tarja fan!
Angela is the GOAT. Sorta painful to see her dropping from the stats completely to this day, but Floor totally deserves to be on top so that's OK
Tarja Turunen is the Icon, Sharon den Adel, Simone Simons, Allissa White-Gluz, and Floor Jansen are all Legends, Suzuka Nakamoto is a Legend on the Rise...and catching them fast. I see some performers weren't listed, one in particular is Amy Lee of Evanescence.

Suzuka Nakamoto.. The success of BABYMATAL is surprising
I knew Floor would crush everything at the end of the 2010s, simply because of Beste Zangers and upcoming Nightwish album, but I'm really suprised to see Doro and Tarja to be so constant at the top. I am well aware that Tarja is a living legend in metal and arguably one of the greatest singers the metal-scene has to offer and Doro to be one of the first female voice in metal ever, but still. No Tatiana was the biggest suprise for me. Such an amazing singers and no mention is almost a crime. Some notable namens that I didn't expect to see, but would have been reasonable are Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum) and Jennifer Haben (Beyond the Black).
Didn't knew that Doro is still so popular. Think the last time i heared stuff from her was in the 1990s 🤔
Floor is a flop
Suzuka Nakamoto 🤘🦊🤘 best singer ever!! Singing in a non-popular language, in a non-popular band, in a non-popular metal genre , etc... just amazing!
"Non popular"bro, you are delusional, Japan is one of the most popular countries all over the world, and their music is mainstream which serves a lot, since ot only metalhead listen to it but regular folks, also the band is super popular was even viral for a long time.
@@danriu Do you compare the popularity of BABYMETAL with Nightwish, or some other renowned band in the west? Or the popularity of BABYMETAL in Japan? Because in neither case is it. In Japan they don't even give them the recognition they deserve. If you compare the number of people who live in Japan with the number of people who know or have heard the name BABYMETAL, you will realize that they are unfortunately not popular. In 2020 BABYMETAL was recently invited to Kohaku, where they made themselves known a little more in their own country.
PS: Of course BABYMETAL sells out all their concerts and has a lot of fans in Japan, but that number of people is only a tiny fraction of the total number of people living in their country. In Japan, J-Pop and/or J-Rock is more popular
PS2: Just because Japan as a country is popular, because of its culture, music, anime and other things, it doesn't mean that BABYMETAL is so :(

Floor and Nightwish play in another league that includes bands like Rammstein, Metallica with legenday live performances.
They went far beyond the boundaries of the genre (symphonic/female metal)
I feel Epica are in the same League. I guess not many people search for Simone in particular. Floor also had a lot of solo attention and upped her social media A-game considerably starting 2019.
@@erwinmulder1338 Ok, but I did not mean any social league, I meant another musical league. Simone and Epica are definetely top of the symphonic/female metal but Nightwish is top of the music. A spiritual experience composed by a genius and performed by the female reincarnation of freddy mercury
Concur!
@@erwinmulder1338 Epica, the evil little sibling of Nightwish (is what we called them about 20 years ago). While i do love Epica equally, they are by no means in the same league overall. Yes, they are one of the top tier symphonic metal bands with femal main vocalist, but they go far harder and darker. And while there are times when they share or take the throne from NW for a while, they never stretched the borders of the genre (or any metal genre) as far as NW did and does. The symphonic metal sound was redefined and reshaped by Nightwish countless times, far more signifacantly than by any other symphonic metal band.
In my opinion it's like this: If you want a band that is the definition of symphonic metal, you listen to Epica. If you want a band that is anything and everything that symphonic metal could be or become (and beyond), you listen to Nightwish. And because i like the music by J.S.Bach and walisian folk ballads as much as the music by System Of A Down, Lord Of The Lost, Rammstein, Electric Callboy, ASP, Epica, Nighwish and Old Mans Child, i go for Nightwish more often than for Epica.
Nightwish is my personal favorite, but it was Beste Zangers in 2018 that put Floor on top so solidly.

She always was. Nightwish just cast a spotlight on the gem known in the European metal scene and brought her to a wider audience, then Beste Zangers, followed by COVID. Many of us have been long time AF fans. In reality, I never listened much to Nightwish until Floor became their vocalist. She is fantastic wherever she sings. Goosebumps.
In these stats, she really takes off when Beste Zangers aired in july 2019. That was when she first reached main stream audience.
Became overrated imo
@swaillidan5558 some people deserve their recognition; she is one of them. Being highly regarded for her skill isn't the same as being overrated. Tarja, on the other hand, is highly overrated.
@@ACGmusic0117 Her overall skill is indeed great. However, her performance in Nightwish has completely been held back cuz of Tuomas' ego to do whatever he pleases. She can do operas, growls, high belts... and where is that? There was barely any opera vocals in the most recent album, and NONE in EFMB. EFMB was a boring generic mainstream pile of crap, the highest note she hit in the album was like an E5 or F5 once. Her range spans literally an entire octave higher, she can hit F6 in operatic head voice. Why? Why hold back the variety she can provide and streamline, simplify everything instead of utilizing her full capabilities? And, naturally, she never got any growl lines to sing, cuz Tuomas has this idea to make Nightwish a folk rock band instead of returning back to proper symphonic metal

Su-Metal is the stage name of Japanese singer Suzuka Nakamoto, who has become an icon in the metal scene worldwide thanks to her work as the leader of the band Babymetal. Since her debut in 2010, Su-Metal has made an indelible mark on the music scene thanks to her incredible talent, stage charisma, and ability to fuse elements of metal with Japanese pop culture.
What has made Su-Metal revolutionize the world of metal is her ability to connect with a very diverse audience, which has helped expand the genre to new audiences. Her voice is unique and has been able to adapt to different styles and musical genres, allowing her music to have a global reach.
Furthermore, Su-Metal has achieved what few artists have been able to do: she has fused metal music with elements of Japanese pop culture, creating a completely new genre. Babymetal is known for its "kawaii metal" style, a mix of metal and J-pop that has captivated millions of fans around the world.
But what really makes Su-Metal a revolutionary figure in the world of metal is her ability to break stereotypes and cultural barriers. As a woman in a male-dominated genre, she has defied expectations and shown that women can be as talented and passionate as any other musician.
In conclusion, Su-Metal has revolutionized the world of metal thanks to her ability to connect with a global audience, her ability to fuse musical and cultural genres, and her ability to break stereotypes and cultural barriers. Her legacy as the leader of Babymetal and as one of the most influential figures in contemporary metal is undeniable, and her music will continue to inspire future generations of musicians and fans of the genre.

You could pinpoint the exact moment Nightwish split with Tarja because of the HUGE spike in searches for her. Weird that Anette didn't spike as much for that split. Maybe because there was less time between that split and the arrival of Floor than between Tarja and Anette? The spike at the beginning of the pandemic is interesting too, I think that is when Ghost Love Score basically became part of the Official Reaction Video Starter Kit, along with Pisces. I also agree with every one else that Tatiana absolutely belongs in there.
I think the split with NW and Tarja was just HUGE. When talking about NW it was all about Tarja often (same as now it's all about Floor). And there was no new singer for over a year and half. Anette then spiked crazily too when her name was revealed.
The Anette split was announced in the same post as Floor coming on board. Makes sense that new singer adjusting on tour was far more interesting than Anette flying home. Also Anette never became "the diva face of NW" unlike Tarja&Floor.

Living in the US. I didn't realize Tarja remained so popular for so long after she left Nightwish. If it wasn't for going to see Nightwish I would have never learned about Simone and Floor. Now Floor blew up so big thanks to Beste Zangers she basically decided to b3come the list.
First female fronted band I remember hearing was Straight Line Stitch, Alexis Brown. Then Evanescence, Amy Lee. Back in HS they were almost like a guilty pleasure because of the environment I grew up in.
It's really interesting to visually see when these talented musicians joined bands or released albums. You can even spot the boost of Wacken 2013 on Floor's search results, and then her Beste Zanger's performance in 2019 sent her to the moon.
How is Amy Lee not on this list? Not even in 2003? I'm pretty sure she dwarfed Tarja in that era.

Tarja Turunen has incredibly succesful and long career. After her Nightwish managed to make known also two other singers - and Turunen managed to continue her independent career.
In case you didn't pay attention: Floor has beein in that chart from the start, dropping out occationally due to inactivity (like going to school for a while before making a new album). And even when her band disbanded and she fell into depression and there was not a single sign of activity from her, she stayed for a long time there - before she joined Nightwish, as Tuomas wanted her to ever since Tarja left (but didn't ask her cause at that time After Forever was already an established band in the genre).
@@olgahein4384 I did pay attention, and noticed that Jansen was there also. There is talk in production circles that his career was on the line before he joined Nightwish. Apparently, his solo career wasn't credible enough. Who knows... But what is clear is that her career got boosted with NW. (Like Olzon's)
@@osk9013 *she/her
And while there is no doubt that joining NW has been a guarantee for success for 20 years now (though Annette didn't stay at the top for very long), Floors career was on a stable rise before all the private desaster happened to her and other band members around and after the band disbanding. It just hit her especially hard and she disappeared from the music world entirely for that time.
@@osk9013 which doesn't happen without Tarja
@@coachmikesfilmroom3111 The question is who made Nightwish great? I think it's Tuomas and Marko.
I love Floor since her years in After Forever in 2005, and I knew someday she would have the recognition she deserves, and Nightwish was the trampoline to show her, now is the unquestional Queen
Floor leading the way. Just as it should be
Glad to see Anette hanging around even nowadays! Tarja and Floor are both amazing, but Anette has always been extremely underrated.
Honestly, seeing Suzuka so high up with some of *THE* names in metal warms my heart. I've been a BM fan since pretty much day one and seeing her grow from this cute girl into a gorgeous young woman with the voice of an angel is just fantastic.
Su has grown so much! Love the older albums for the energy and boldness of BM overall, but their recent album has shown her really mature👌🤘
Tarja dominated for a decade, then became a top5, it seems Floor its at the top of the game for the past few years
Floor Jansen is the best.❤
Happy to see Sazuka Nakamoto on this she's my favorite.
They are all great singers, beautiful and talented ❤❤❤ Long live female metal!!!
Floor is the best, no doubt!
It's such a shame that Vibeke Stene isn't in this ranking, with her vocal prowess she deserved to be there.
Me sorprende que Anette aún se mantenga vigente, reconozco que escucho muchas canciones de ella, y Suzuka esta aún muy joven, irá como espuma.
Anette are amazing!
Anette has been excellent in the Dark Element! Her recent career has really showcased her talent.
Floor, Anette, Anneke, Simone las mejores
