Tatiana is amazing I have to 10,000% agree. Plus she's beautiful and has an amazing personally (I've seen her in several interviews) her story about learning how to sing like she does is just amazing
Honestly when I first heard people talking about Floor Jansen, I didn't think much of it, and even my one manager at work said people refer to having what's known as a Floorgasm when they listen to her sing. When I listened to her for the first time...she's the embodiment of a music goddess. Some videos out there where they compared her against talentless pop stars singing covers of the same song and these poppies fall flat at their limits, Floor just takes it to another level.
The best examples... "Shallow" or "Into the unknown"

@@timur9546 I have and she is very talented and the song you refer to I do prefer above floor's or Tarja's but in all fairness she does studio recordings in an ideal situation which is different than standing on a stage with 90k audience prefroming live with no autoqueu.
Natalia though as she mentioned herself is not a rock or for that matter symphonic metal singer and the song she has done just suited her voice.
I have to agree, Floor Jansen's voice is heavenly. I get goosebumps every time I hear her sing.

People miss this point, favourite means something more than octave range, breath holding, etc. that’s a technical appraisal. Floor does everything it’s really high level. But it’s the character of her voice that makes her my favourite singer in general.

Tatiana Schmailyuk, from Jinjer. Insane vocal ranges and beautiful melodies. Hands down, the best female vocalist nowadays, in my opinion.

Really, all of Nightwish's female vocalists (and Marco when he sings!) are great, each in their own way. But Floor is absolutely my favorite of the lot. She's every bit as amazing live as she is in on the pre-recorded album, too!
I'm so glad you included Britney Slayes from Unleash the Archers on here. She's amazing, and I don't think she gets as much recognition as she deserves.
Suggested additions: Kobra Paige (Kobra and the Lotus), Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy's singer before Alissa came in from The Agonist), Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast)

I love how every other comment, almost every, mentions floor jansen.. since I heard her voice she has stolen the #1 spot for my favorite and will never be replaced. No female vocalist like her. She's a masterpiece in every way
Nightwish kicks ass with Floor Jansen, but I still prefer Tarja's voice. To each his own. PS... I love AC DC with Brian, but will always prefer Bon Scott. Also, Van Halen with Sammy rocks, but the songs I love best were with David Lee Roth as frontman.

Canada is well represented by Alyssa and Brittney -but all hail Floor - the mighty Norse Valkyrie - damn that is a pretty impressive list and it is only the tip of the Iceberg - there is a lot of impressive ladies of metal that aren't on that list. I would add Lee Aaron to the Canadian squad! Peace!

I'm well represented here. I'm of Dutch heritage and am a Canadian citizen. I've seen Lee Aaron lots of times and partied with her back in the eighties. However, everyone of the nine are amazing talents. I'd pick Floor as my favourite but just my opinion.
@SergioSBloch & @Jack Haveman, Lee Aaron - the original Canadian metal queen. My dad’s company did work for the band. Met Lee several times in an everyday situation. Really nice person.

The number 1 is simply undeniable. She sings so good live and the power and range of her voice is just wow. Floor is absolutely the Queen of them all.

Gotta give Lzzy Hale and Maria Brink some love. I have been a Nightwish fan since 2008 and thought it was all over after Tarja left. Annette was good and in my opinion fronted their best album. After watching Floor in Wacken I knew every other female metal singer was playing for second place. All of these ladies are talented but Floor Jansen can go out on stage and do things that others can’t do in a studio.

All VERY great, but Floor is on another level. Nightwish has been blessed to have two of the top 5 or so female leads of all time. Brittney should be higher IMHO though. Hard to nail this down to just 10. Old school, but I'd put Doro Pesch, Otep Shamaya, Cristina, Kobra Paige, etc on this list, but the list has to have an ending somewhere.

@@boxychubbo6922 Hi, I know that comparing Tatiana and Flor or Tari singing is pointless and I didn't meen to do it. I don't treat metal singing as a kind of "Voice of... competition". I could put on the same level Ronnie James Dio who definitelly had one of the greatest voice in metal and Tom Araya who doesn't really do anything like singing. I gave male voices example because I am not really listen to female metal bands. When I am in mood to hear a beatifull female voice I would rather choose from one of my favorite Rock or sometimes classical music singer. What I tried to emphasized was that Tatiana's mixture of charisma, deep growl and natural singing ability should put her on any of "Metal Frontwoman" list. On which place depends really from personal taste.

Floor Jansen's Ghost Love Score is Goddess Level brilliance.
I realize that the Dutch dont pronounce 'Floor' the same way as most native English speakers, but when I hear the sheer power in that voice it seems like a particularly apt name. I recall reading an interview with Tarja (back in the Nightwish days) where she said she believed that it would take her at least 6 months of training to move from 'operatic rock' to classical opera but I doubt that the fans of symphonic metal get too hung up on that distinction. Sharon Den Adel and Elize Ryd both have distinctive vocal styles in addition to exceptional stage presence but neither comes close to that sheer power, at least IMO, even if I can only dream of one day seeing all three live. As far as growls go, Otep seems to be the current choice among the hardcore folk out there, but that's a whole other thread. Thanks for the video.

Floor is the ultimate Nordic Viking angel goddess of all time. No other human can sing like floor. She was sent to earth to show us mortals what heaven sounds like. The other singers are great. There is only one floor. The true vocal goddess of all. Period

The last concert I went to before lockdown was Battle Beast, November 2019, and Noora Louhimo was absolutely awesome,Arch Enemy are scheduled to play here in September and hopefully the venues will be open by then, saw them last time and Alyssa was amazing.

my honourable mentions are definitely Charlotte Wessels from Delain, and Sharon Den Adel from Within Temptation. Fantastic singers. Maybe even Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil. Floor is undoubtedly the best though !
I really like Alissa White-Gluz and Tarja. Beautiful women, obviously, awesome voices. Floor Jansen looks and sounds like she might be a valkyrie straight out of Norse mythology. Wow. 🤘

Floor is the undisputed Queen in my opinion. Especially live which is the true test. Lots of singers sound great on the studio track but can’t quite pull it off in person.

Even if I'm not agree with the whole classment there's something that we are perfectly agree together. The two best are Tatiana and Floor. The funniest is that I'm not even fan of Nightwish and Jinjer but DAMN those 2 ladies are unbeatable ! So much power in two different ways. I'm still looking for someone else that could compete with them !

I've met Vicky Psarakis 2 months ago. I was surprised with how outgoing, generous, and down to earth her personality is. Probably my favorite one now.

Thanks for tipping me off at 'The Agonist'. The Greeks do have some rather decent metal bands. Oddly enough it seems to always require an 'insider tip' of sorts to find out about them... they deserve better imo.
Alissa White-Gluz(current Archenemy vocals) was the original vocalist of The Agonist. I love them both, and I recommend you check the older material as well, because Alissa has more range and does clean vocals there too.

Great title as it’s not a competition. My favourite out of that is Tatiana, but splitting hairs with Alyssa, Floor and Tarja. Su metal is also incredible live, and Angela Gossow is just brutal.

Colmerator Your list was very good. I would take a harder look at Floor Jansen. The Nightwish army is huge. You can add a ton more subscribers and views. Need to watch some of her performances on Beste Zangers. She stole the show and has now become very well know in the Netherlands which is where she is from.
I don't know why people put Maria Brink in these lists. I don't get it - maybe I am missing something? Everyone else on your list, yep - sure great singers the lot of them, love their work (except I have not come across Ashley Costello), but I have never heard anything from Brink that impressed me. Maybe I listen to the wrong period, maybe her music just does not inspire me? You are not the first person I've seen put her in a list of 'greats', so I wonder what is going on here. I would put her down near 100 on a list of female rock/metal singers.
@@Wookey. I have found that most of the top 10 lists are from a very american perspective. Basically, its who is most known in the american market (which to be honest is also most of the global market). It seems like In This Moment are one of the more known female fronted metal bands in the US, which is why shes represented on a lot of the top female lists. Even though, its fairly obvious you could easily pick more than 10 higher calibre metal singers world wide.
Similarly, it wouldn't really be right to include obscure singers on such list as they haven't achieved anything and no one knows who they are.
That's just reality of how things work.

@@colmerator I’ll be honest, the album “Comalies” did it for me. The next album “Karmacode” wasn’t terrible but it kinda went into certain “of the times” tropes. Think, Korn/ Linkin Park etc. but it still had some great vocals on it. More current albums have lost me a bit but Comalies is worth a listen and Karmacode when you get some time.

I am biased but Su-Metal is goated for her voice. They do heavy metal but in every style. Her vocals are on point even when she just finished the hardest choreography of the show. Her crowd control is unbelievable. Her death stare actually inflicts death among people. Her stage presence is electrifying. Her progression is very visible over the 10 YEARS since they started.
