We actually have these and used them while we were there. The people we used it with thought it was very useful. We like them!

Thank you for your very slow, articulate, and well modulated tone in explaining this device. Most others race through their description so rapidly that it's difficult to determine what was said and how it applies to you and your potential usage.

Thanks for the review. I'm also from Toronto, and about to arrive in PV for the first time. My Spanish is very minimal, so this product is interesting.
    I have 2 questions:
    1. For situations like trying to order something in a store or restaurant, can google translate essentially do the same thing? Google translate has a mode they call 'conversation' mode, which seems to be doing the same thing as this product. Have you tried using google translate in that way?
    2. Where is Kathleen eating the chocolate cake in the first part of the video?? It it was good, I'd love to know the name of the place, as I would try it when in PV (I have a love of chocolate cake, as you can tell).

Hola fellow Torontonian 👋🏼 We’ve never used conversation mode I typically just type out the translation needed (I don’t have issue with pronunciation so I just need to know the actual word). I don’t think you’ll need it for most restaurants although I would learn some basic words to ask for stuff (Baño, plato, servilleta, tenedor, cuchillo, cuchara, etc) you can probably find a list online. For taco stands it might get a little bit more complex since they ask you follow up
Questions like if you want cilantro o cebolla, para aqui o para llevar, etc.
The Chico cake is from a beautiful coffee shop called Miscelanea in Versalles. Great food and coffee although we found it to be a little bit more on the expensive side.
