If you actually want to focus on on just one person's voice, that's cool, but you should have the option to disable that so that you can hear the entire environment naturally, which is what sounds like it's happening with the iPhone.
That's true Samsung should make that a setting in their camera app to choose between enhancing voice or canceling it out. I would like to cancel it out since my videos are bus rides, and I don't want to hear obnoxious voices in the background.
It would be very helpful if you mentioned which one is closest to the realistic colors per case... We can see a lot of differences. For example the fog video... Olive oil price background etc
I'm a huuuuuuuge Samsung Galaxy fan, always owned Galaxy phones and never considered an iPhone. Even now. But I have to be honest; the iPhone pictures look a lot more alive and beautiful with color correction. I hope Samsung changes things up in the next updates. I still won't switch to Apple but still. This phone came so many months after the iPhone and it's still not as good. iPhone wins this one for now IMHO. I don't particularly appreciate when people judge by what brand they love, but not what they actually see. SAMSUNG needs to catch up, period.
I try to get pictures of the moon and my current iPhone is crap. The 100x zoom sounds awesome but I used the FaceTime daily. Does Samsung offer anything compatible? Also concerned about storage. I currently have the 254 gb (I think). I’ve had the phone for 4 years so I don’t recall exactly. What’s the storage like on the Samsung?
I don't really care who has the best camera or is the fastest phone in benchmarks. Every flagship smartphone takes super pictures and video's and is blazing fast. 97% of all smartphone users don't even see the differences. I'm a SMARTPHONE user so I want the best screen (dpi/brightness/anti-glare), best battery, best/most usablility and productivity options, best gaming- and multi-media experience, best personalization options and best innovation. I want DEX, KNOX, S-PEN, call recording, multi-tasking, multi-window, fingerprint scanner, best screen, widgets, themes, integration with windows, the biggest eco-system (Samsung SmartThings), fast charging, fast wireless charging and I want AI. On all these aspects the S24 Ultra is better than the iphone 15 PM big time.
S24 mic is def better isolation, but tbh I don’t want all my casual videos to sound like they have VO. I liked the atmospheric background noise of the iPhone better for day to day video.
That's what I was thinking too. Sound isolation is good sometimes, but most of the time I want a little bit of that bird chirping or swing sets squeaking. The Samsung mic is better for serious work, where you might add in your own ambiance. But the iPhone is better for day-to-day recording.
You can definitely change the bokeh effect on the iPhone when shooting in cinematic mode. I change the F stop to 5.6 and save it that way so the camera keeps that setting. It's far more realistic looking at the settings...less blur but still present.
Which camera is more color accurate to what you actually saw? Especially in the beginning photo of the snow and the lake. iPhone was darker and teal and Samsung was more white.
S24 mic isolation sounds great, cleaner than iPhone, but is there an amount setting? Would be nice to have some of the ambient sound. iPhine sounds real, S24 sounds ADR.
Everyone complains that the Samsung doesn´t have a more natural skin tone or more balanced colors, but the truth is that many edit the photos with Iphone to upload to social media while with Samsung you can upload them directly. Everyone wants natural photos but uploads artificial
Cuz you can edit according yourself whereas Samsung forces to use the post processed photo. BTW iPhone cameras actually have more detail. But most people arent gonna mention it and say Samsung is better cuz it provides vibrant photos
I think even rating the microphone is a matter of personal preference. The Ultra clearly does a great job of isolating and enhancing voice. The iPhone leaves in more of the background for a more realistic presentation. If these were earpods, the Ultra is sorta in noise cancelation mode and the iPhone is sorta in transparency mode. In a perfect world, both phones would allow you to choose between the two styles.
While I strongly agree that the sound quality is superior on the Samsung, I don’t appreciate the voice isolation. The ambient sound is absolutely something that I want to have included in my footage as a lot of documentary style videos. Also, Apple does some weird things and their positional audio space that make it really inconsistent and weird. Regarding the image quality in both photos and video, something that I’ve always hated about Apple is that they are completely garbage at white balance. Never mind saturation, sharpness etc., not being able to consistently match white balance with what I’m seeing with my eyes is incredibly frustrating it always turns too much to the blue side as soon as it’s not a sunny photo.
Very good video sir! I am using S24 Ultra and I am happy with it! It is all about you preferences after 2020 because smartphones become so capable and I think with Samsung you can use ur phone way productively than iphones but do not forget that iphone also has some strength in video departments!! Thanks for making a unbiased video! Have a good time my man ❤
mic on the s24 front facing test was better. iphone was more clear but had more background noise. In the EXT shot, the S24 sounds WAY more processed. I might prefer the iPhone on that one. For the photos, for sure - i feel like every other photo looked better on the other phone. just about every time. The cinematic video looked far better on iphone. the moire on the s24 was wild.

I'd favour the S24 Ultra, images tend to be more natural looking. The only thing I thought the iPhone did better with was in the beginning of the video where you had both phones pointed at you, the iPhone did a slightly better job at capturing your skin tone better. What would I really be interested in seeing is a comparison between the S24 Ultra and the Pixel 8 Pro.
I'm really impressed with the Samsung phone, if only it had iMessage it'd be a slam dunk for me! I know not everyone cares about it, but as an American, I do think it shouldn't be ignored.
Although the microphones on iPhones are fantastic - there was one downside in the opening intro to the iPhone 15 PM. I think the quality, the tone is better on the iPhone, but it did seem to pick up the room acoustics. A bit of an echo to it? Not in a bad way , necessarily. Perhaps a truer sound of what we’d hear there? I think the video though - is better color on the iPhone 15 PM. Seemed warmer, brighter, more vivid and realistic? Personal opinion. That’s all.
iPhone because of the true NEVER screen lockout vs. Samsung's 30 minute lockout which then requires a buggy biometric or crappy face recognition that doesn't work that well, EVERY half hour. OMG, hell no. I returned my S24 and went with the iPhone 15 Max Pro. It trully will not do a lock out on you unless you hit low battery setting on accident. But you can turn it off under Battery. The iphone won't kick in the screen lock at any time. Nobody tells me how long I can keep my screen on. I don't care if it's trying to save my battery. You don't get to tell me that. I freakin hate Android for that reason. Annoying as hell. In Developer Mode you can do a NEVER setting in the Samsung but it requires power to the S23/24. So it has to be plugged in if you've selected Never. Forget it man.
I bet u after buying samsung u will regret in everyway , samsung might be good in other areas but when it comes to their camera quality it is just rubbish😂
Regarding mic quality, sound editor here, and hearing your test over my genelecs, I think samsung is over doing its noise reduction and the voice sound a bit unatural, no background noise and voice it too thick. I would rather have the more natural sound of the iphone and use more noise reduction if needed via a plugin.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is capable of AAA games with hardware based ray tracing let that sink in I’ll wait 😴 There is absolutely no explanation that can express how the Samsung S24 ultra is capable of being near or even at a similar speed. You do have options on the s24 ultra regarding the framerate. You can shoot 24, 30, 60, and even 120 fps at 4k.
