Yeah I know, most of the things addressed here are remaining the same. The update affected mostly contrast/sharpening things. Stay tuned for the next video 🫡
14:22 you were viewing the saved jpg of the raw file that's why the file size was low. expert raw has the default option to save both the jpg and raw files, but you can change this on the settings.
good video. Something I noticed that could could be be useful to you editing would be to never switch what phone is on the left vs right of the screen doing comparisons where you don't always have it consistent now. for example 2:34 is opposite 2:16
Pure raw on the Samsung is only in the pro mode, not in expert raw, you go into the settings and chose to save in raw. Have you have a 12mp mode and 50mp mode. Raw files are usually around 100mbs Expert raw also has different amount of multi exposure settings upto 9 exposures but definitely more for tripod use with the built-in Nd filter for like waterfall etc.
Great review! I will say the anti reflective screen is amazing. With my phone at slight angles etc there's hardly any reflection to deal with. It's extremely nice. Should have been on smart phones years ago.
Is this review after the update with a bunch of s24U camera optimizations? White balance when zoomed in is supposed to have been adjusted, and there are supposed to be some adjustments to noise levels and capturing fast-moving subjects.
Samsung s24ultra user. Most of the features, like the noise in the pictures, have ben fixed. In my opinion, the 5x it's not anymore magenta, but it's a more accurate color. It's almost impercettable the difference between the real life and the camera's colors. Still, my favourite it's the 3x, that with the new update has an utopia vibe. There's a couple more features that they could fix, but right now I'm not remembering even one of them 😅 . Anyways, big W for both phones, even if in my opinion the s24ultra is slightly superior talking about the hardware. Bye.
If you are using a third party app on 15pm, why are you comparing it to the stock app on Samsung, instead of downloading the Motion Camera App or mcpro24fps on Samsung, which will allow you to shoot in any codecs and with any gamma curves, including shooting in ProRes LOG, while giving you even more options for manual adjustments than the stock camera. Сonsider this option for future comparisons.
No, I absolutely do not agree. You see Apple advertised the app I talked about and even showed it in their keynote which they shot on via this app. Just think about it, so it makes total sense to use it. On the other hand, Samsung never encouraged anyone to use a 3rd party app. Besides that, half of the apps I get recommended are either full of ads or not available in my region, which I am okay with, but once again it's just not the same. And makes the whole thing even less fit for getting an advanced image quality. Plus on top of that, Expert Raw mode on the S23/S24 Ultra HAS to be downloaded as a separate app feature. Meanwhile, I do not see anyone saying "Why don't you use some App on the iPhone for manual photography settings". So I still believe I give a fair take here in the video. But I surely will try to get the max out of the phone even if it requires all this workflow, so thanks for the advice.
@@StevenDivish Good point that Apple is promoting "their" 3rd party camera and Samsung is not. But it still seems to me that the key point here is the very need to download third party software. An ordinary user will not download a program with a bunch of buttons and settings, it will be done by those who understand why they need it. And they will find what to download and how to setup the program, besides, the Internet is full of information on this topic. And in this context, it is not so important what third-party software is promoted by whom. That's why I wrote that it is most correct to compare either "out of the box" states or the maximums obtained through the use of third-party software.
Beside of the software adjustment, I think Samsung should redesign their camera placement, I think Apple with their camera placement could improve the smoothness when switching the lenses while recording
But I think Samsung’s video in Pro Video Mode is also good as iPhone, it depends on how we use any techniques on Samsung to make our video quality good as iPhone’s.
Samsung cant do action photos while not perfect light, see the hockey shots in the video, too long exposure. So for photos it is Google Pixel for sure.
I don't know yet much about the internals of either phone but judging the exterior apparience, the Samsung's color, bluish lens, flat surfaces and squerish corners looks more elegant. Tremendous filming quality and tons of editing. This video is a jwel! Thanks!
@5ecretcode Definitely not true in my experience. I took a tonne of photos before and after the update... the update improved the camera consistency, colours, exposure and wb.
@@JohnnyBravoGn Firstly, people are complaining that images are noticeably flatter and drabber after the update, and skin colour representation is now very poor in 50Mp mode. For some, the update has introduced stabilization micro-jitters in zoomed in video, and inconsistent (worsened) view gradients of colours (banding). I could go on, but that would not give a balanced picture, as the update has of course brought some improvements. NO update will ever be a cure everything at once update though.

This exactly is something that has kept me sticking with iPhones for years after coming from Android. I sort of want to go back, but I like to know exactly what to expect and what I will get with my cameras and Apple has provided that (mostly) for years.
Yeah I agree. For the years, iPhone was always getting consistent and stable results. However, that is mostly related to processing the files not too much. What I discovered after I bought S24 Ultra is with the new One UI 6.1 update, you can choose either getting photos max, mid, or min processed. This might sound not much of a difference but when you analyze the results, you tend to see it becomes more "consistent". I always loved the way Apple approaches to color science and HDR but I gotta admit that Samsung stepped up pretty much and this year S24 Ultra might be winner on Camera category with a slight advantage.

I used to have the Samsung a30 before switching to the iPhone 14 and I loved the selfie camera on the Samsung. I'm convinced Samsung just has a better selfie camera
Both have the same focal length zoom capabilities of 5x. The 100x on samsung is with the 5x lens which iPhone also has. So they both will take more or less similar quality images when zoomed more then 5x. But within 3x to 5x, samsung is supposed to take better images as it has a 3x lens. You're right, samsung needs to go back to giving 10x lens as that should give better long range zoomed shots like 30x or 50x or even 100x. It's surprising why they dialed it down to 5x only and still claims to be a zoom king. Even though the 5x has more megapixels, a true optical 10x lens with just 12 megapixel will give better zoomed image quality.
Brother, I am speaking from Bangladesh. I want to buy a phone but I don't understand so please give me any phone Please tell me which phone I will buy 15 pro max or s24 ultra
Regarding the RAW format, you need to check the settings. There is an option there where you can choose how to save pictures - RAW, RAW and JPEG and only JPEG. In expert RAW mode with RAW save option you get massive file sizes. I tried once and the picture was over 100mb.
I am Android fan and bought s24 ultra. However, my wife's iPhone 13 pro max is faster and has better app quality. For example, Facebook videos on iPhone are much better than S24 ultra. I am really disappointed
Expert RAW is a weird one. It can shoot in JPEG or RAW. You may have used Expert RAW JPEG instead of Expert RAW RAW. The standard camera also has its own RAW mode.
Yes I agree it brings the difference, but it’s more of a reply to the comments who said iPhone’s reflections are so bad it make the phone unusable which is not true since I’d say that coating makes the image maybe 25-30% clearer to see, and the rest just depends on how you position the phone in relation to light
@stevendivish Yeah the difference is very noticible when you have the phones side by side, but I agree in no way is the iPhone unusable. I thought the iPhone had a great screen until the s24u came out.
Bro is the master of videography. Shots video in 4K 24fps for the ultimate cinema experience with the slo-mos in 60fps. Salute to you 🫡. Correct me if I’m wrong tho.
Was this comparison after the update? Because my s24 ultra is taking amazing pics and videos after the big update and the screen is looking looking nice and colorful.
They should've upgraded the 3x lense as well. Atleast giving it a 12mp slightly larger sensor instead of old, bad 10mp sensor. That would've been useful
Switch the 5x for a 10x? Most certainly not. The 5x (105-120 mm) lens is a critical lens for general photography and is the 50-85 mm lens. The main les is a 23/24 mm and is way too wide as a general lens to cover the entire range up to 120. The distortion is horrendous especially towards the corners. On a full frame DSLR, my go to kit would be a 28mm, a 50mm and a 105mm. Alternatively I would consider a 35mm, an 85mm and a 135mm. Ideally, though, I'd simply take one 24-105 zoom. The 10x is a 230mm lens even longer than the long end of my 70-200 f2.8. Rare used.
Great perspective. I believe the bottom line is, either of these cameras can be a winner if presented to be. The truth is the ultra has more capability, better results even in auto unless you corner a certain lense in a niche scenario, and even then there are other lenses and features on the ultra that beat the competition. There will always be a rebuttal with the ultra when with other phones, they can be flatlined by it. Everyone knows the iPhone is the go to for serious production and pleasing to the history of videographers. The ultra will give you the results you want and the best results for social consumption. Game Over.
I so love your honest reviews. Please could you make a more detailed comparison between video qualities of these 2 phones @Stevendivish? I particularly struggle filming in small rooms with wide or ultra wide angle to capture more .. there's a lot of noise on my s23 ultra. Curious if s24 does better or maybe the iphone is better? Not one youtuber talks about these things (noise, distortion, video quality)
I wasn't aware that raw files we're supposed to be larger until just recently. I noticed in the settings menu on the raw settings, there's an option to save as just Raw but the preset was saved as JPEG and RAW . I noticed that when you switch it to Raw only the file size becomes bigger is larger
steven, please test the pro mode on camera app on s24, there you get 100mb Real Raw photos, i woul love to see you get the most out of that mode. great video btw
To be honest, i focused on Steven while watching the entire reviews. It seems that i am more in love with Steven than the two expensive phones. Sorry for this but i think i this love at first sight.
been on reddit and seems NO it hasnt? main issues were color coordination nd post processing being so forceful. still the same if i saw. also im about to grab my s24 from the store rn...
Personally, I have my eye firmly on the S24 Ultra. Looks like its going to be my next phone. How about testing the ND filters you can get for the S24 Ultra. That would be great.
When shooting video - the iPhone’s native app is good. It’s even better if you turn off HDR in video settings. Of course Pro Rez Log opens up the world of cinematic footage. Having a free app that allows you to control every aspect of exposure while allowing the recording of less memory intensive Pro Rez files makes the iPhone the best choice for a wide variety of filmmakers.
I am a Galaxy S21 user right now, but tbh that blur while taking shots of moving objects is a deal breaker and a serious issue. I rather go with iPhone just for this reason even though it sucks. This exists on my S21 as well, I can't take pics of pets or kids. It's so annoying.
Hi Steven, Are you able to run a through the cameras and all the technical things like aperture and what makes cameras on s24 ultra slower than iphones and pixel(addressing the lag and sharpness of the shot in the end)m as well as configure a preferred camera setup on a proper/dream like cameraphone. Thank you very much and your videos are always boss😎
Couldn’t agree more about the camera app, I have the iPhone 15 pro max and it’s genuinely horrendous how little control I have over the photos I take, my old Oneplus 5T had a far superior manual mode and that was half of the price, nothing about having only a small amount of control over the exposure feels “pro”.
I got the Pro Camera app for like $4 way back on my 6s and though I haven't used it much on my 13 Pro, it seems to be better than ever. Sure there are other options but it's a solid choice for sure. Stock app works for me mostly, pull out the DSLR if not lol
But the fact you’ve had to pay for “pro” functionality defeats the purpose. And whipping out a DSLR simply isn’t an option for most people. If I’ve spent this much money on a phone with a pro tag line I would expect that feature to be available.
man, can't wait for the next vid. i am liking photography more and more because of you. hope you cover a beginner and budget friendly camera in the later series. a camera that is good enough without any stabilization accessories. something just to take photos of a moment
I've been in a company that we were tuning the camera for Samsung. I understand the process, but a thing bugs me to this day. If you want some really good pictures, why don't you just buy a real Camera? One of the reasons I prefer Samsung for is that they're better outside of the camera aspect, which is in my believes what is needed for a phone.

Between the two, which one would you keep in your pocket as your point and shoot and a daily carry camera wise?
@damianwojcikiewicz3951 thank you so much for the input.
I just clicked because the thumbnail looked stunning.... Good job brother
Hello! Thanks for your work! Good job!!
Finally got a solid review 👏
Hey Steven, thank you for this video.
Did you get a chance to try the RAW video on S24 using MotionCam Pro?
yeah I talk about it many times in my videos, its not reliable and often has many skipped frames which im not a fan of
Brother, I am speaking from Bangladesh. I want to buy a phone but I don't understand so please give me any phone Please tell me which phone I will buy 15 pro max or s24 ultra
I think S24 ultra. Overall better feel for a phone. It won't disappoint you.
Regarding the RAW format, you need to check the settings. There is an option there where you can choose how to save pictures - RAW, RAW and JPEG and only JPEG. In expert RAW mode with RAW save option you get massive file sizes. I tried once and the picture was over 100mb.
Was waiting for this video...🙂
Took a lot of work to film and edit! Hope you enjoy it!
Really good video. Did you update the s24 ultra to the new firmware that has the camera fixes. @@StevenDivish
What should I take s24 or iphone for photo@@StevenDivish
@@StevenDivishyea boss
I think we need to add Sony Xperia flagship phone into the mix
I am Android fan and bought s24 ultra. However, my wife's iPhone 13 pro max is faster and has better app quality. For example, Facebook videos on iPhone are much better than S24 ultra. I am really disappointed
I’ve got them both iPhone 15 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy s24 ultra love them both definitely was worth the upgrade definitely keeping them both ❤️❤️🤲🏾💯
Expert RAW is a weird one. It can shoot in JPEG or RAW. You may have used Expert RAW JPEG instead of Expert RAW RAW. The standard camera also has its own RAW mode.
What app is that?
iPhone is always going to be better, that’s why professional photographers use it over the Samsung
Great video but i feel like the anti reflective screen on the s24 is a big deal... it looks so much better
That telephoto whitebalance issue is only on the Exynos variants as far as I know.
But all S24 Ultras have Snapdragon, don't they?
@@huyquanbnghe is just obsessed with Samsung and will use any excuse. So leave it
What do you use for your video bro?
always incredible videos ♥
Samsung dropped yesterday the big Samsung S24 Ultra update for the camera.
please test it, if there really a improvement
Steven, have you tried the ND filter on the S24 as I found it when I tried it, it has made the photos slightly blurred, thanks.
Bro is the master of videography. Shots video in 4K 24fps for the ultimate cinema experience with the slo-mos in 60fps. Salute to you 🫡. Correct me if I’m wrong tho.
The 24ultra is a Beast of a phone
100%
Is this with the new update released today?
Was this comparison after the update? Because my s24 ultra is taking amazing pics and videos after the big update and the screen is looking looking nice and colorful.
Are you happy with it? The filming is good now?
Did you record this video before the s24 ultra update?
The amazing features from samsung is DEX, you can use PC mode from your smarttv and wirreless, iphone? Nothing
U will be surprised but iPhone 15 series have desktop mode, not fully great as macs or ipads, but it totally works greatly with everything
voice tone is most correct for review good for a long listening
nailed it!! one of the best camera comparisons on youtube, not like others who praise s24 ultra for no good reason.
Thank you!
I agree 3 x zoom is rlly useless bc when u have such a good 5x zoom, it will practically give u a lossless zoom until 4x
Rare used.
He didn't see the differences...? Apple sheep 😂
Not one youtuber talks about these things (noise, distortion, video quality)
honestly the best comparison i have seen out there
Thanks!
Had you set in settings save in jpeg and raw in expert raw?i tested my s23 ultra and it produced a 3 mb photo and 33 mb raw
Yeah on s23U it wasn’t the case, for some reason it’s here DNG files behave this way
To be honest, i focused on Steven while watching the entire reviews. It seems that i am more in love with Steven than the two expensive phones. Sorry for this but i think i this love at first sight.
Have you updated the samsung before making this review? Update was yesterday, and fixes a lot of issues with ultra's camera specifically
been on reddit and seems NO it hasnt? main issues were color coordination nd post processing being so forceful. still the same if i saw. also im about to grab my s24 from the store rn...
Its simple. If u have window pc- galaxy , mac - iphone 😊
The iPhone looks good but that Samsung camera zoom is really hard to beat
Hi Steven, Are you able to run a through the cameras and all the technical things like aperture and what makes cameras on s24 ultra slower than iphones and pixel(addressing the lag and sharpness of the shot in the end)m as well as configure a preferred camera setup on a proper/dream like cameraphone. Thank you very much and your videos are always boss😎
Yes no problem! Thank you for the support, stay tuned for the next video!
This is before or after the update?
im your new subscriber..after watching your review
since i want to buy this both phone..
i will proceed s24U
5:33 I like the iPhone for its natural and correct colors in any lighting
What is that iphone app that he talked about in the video ?
Blackmagic camera app, I have an instructional video how to use it, look up on my channel "iPhone 15 Pro Max - Must Have Camera Accessories"
man, can't wait for the next vid. i am liking photography more and more because of you. hope you cover a beginner and budget friendly camera in the later series. a camera that is good enough without any stabilization accessories. something just to take photos of a moment
So now, in June 24, which to choose? :D I know is like audi vs BMW stuff, but wondering which of them is better as overall package.
Found this channel accidentally but straight leaving sub! Very nice comparison content. Greetings from Brno ! :)
Thanks a lot, man! Appreciate it 🙌🏼
I've been in a company that we were tuning the camera for Samsung. I understand the process, but a thing bugs me to this day. If you want some really good pictures, why don't you just buy a real Camera? One of the reasons I prefer Samsung for is that they're better outside of the camera aspect, which is in my believes what is needed for a phone.
Was this including the recently released update for the s24u
Always 15 Pro Max without a doubt ❤
