    I could be wrong, but believe should use the allen wrench to remove the center screw before taking the filter off as this lets the oil drain out through the small center hole, rather than spilling all over like shown in the video. This is how it is done on a Mini

    I had my oil/filter changed today at a different dealer out of state from where I purchased my 2023 Sportage 2.5L X-Pro. The service adviser told me that the oil drain pan cover is missing. I called the service manager of the dealership where I bought my car because they did my complimentary oil/filter change last November. The service manager asked me to take a picture, probably to see if there is damage underneath which caused the cover to fall off. This car is capable for off roading but I only drive highways and city streets. I’m sure that they never put the cover back. After watching this video, I will do my own oil/filter change. Thank you so much for this video. ❤

      Thank you for letting me know I’m glad this video helped you. My wife took her car in for the complementary service and I was not happy with the quality so I plan do do more videos on the Kia sportage so people don’t have to pay dealer prices and can do a better quality job there self

    Some people just don't pay attention. when I first looked at the housing I noticed the oil drain plug Allen screw. I knew you drain it from there to drain the filter before removing the housing. And don't use a long socket unless you need too. And make sure it's a 6 point socket

    • @adamh3795
      @adamh3795 8 месяцев назад +2

      I was wondering if that would have been a better method, too. Also, I would have thought draining the oil before doing anything with the filter would have made less of a mess. No?

    I would not replace the panels until the engine is running to be able to inspect for leaks.

  • @bbenton1996
    @bbenton1996 Год назад +4

    Great video thank you. My wife’s 2023 has a single panel to remove for drain and filter. You can use a 33mm Allen to remove the cap on the filter, then a 27mm or 1 1/16 socket for the filter housing. The drain plug is a 17mm

    There are two styles of engine covers under the car. Mine is a one piece cover with four bolts and four push plastic holders. Yours looks a lot easier. The allen bolt comes off first, then the filter.

    I have a friend who's wife owns a 2017 Kia sportage he took it to the Kia dealer for the first 3 oil changes and he went to check the oil after about a month of having the oil changed and the oil was barely showing on the dip stick evidently they forgot to put the new oil in it he called the dealer and chewed some ass out and they denied it was there fault but it must of had a little oil left in it that they didn't drain all of it out because the motor would have locked up .

      try to stick with maximum 5000 mile oil change intervals. These GDI engines are famous for carbon build up on the valves. High quality synthetic oil and frequent changes will help with the issue.

      Reading some of the comments on here, I have the same car.
      First, this car uses a 5/20W synthetic.
      Kia won't honor warranties unless full synthetic is used. They gave me 3 years of oil changes free when I bought my car.
      This car has an oil monitoring system which tells you the percentage of oil life used in the vehicle menu on the display so changing oil every 5k is wasting oil and your money.
      Using synthetic oil, there isn't any reason you can't go 7500 miles before changes.
      Second, the 2023 2.5 has multi port injectors and direct injectors.
      Kia addressed keeping the valves clean by adding port injectors. Add some techtron fuel system and injector cleaner every oil change is recommended.
      The first trip I took in this car was 2300 miles round trip. I averaged 35 mpg highway.
