At 160k, forget it. When you have Range Rovers, Bentley GTs, Astons, etc at that price point, its silly to convince someone into an EQS AMG whatever it is. And for the discearning AMG customer, they'll just have a car with a proper engine instead. Just look at SLS prices for example - they're climbing fast!
Plenty of car fans are getting fed up of the over reliance on tech. It's like playing a video game and every car you select feels exactly the same. Dark times
@@allamasadi7970 If we have to go electric then at least make something with a bit of character. Sort the styling out, give us more variety, make them lighter so they feel more alive and keep experimenting with the electric manual concept. Either that or allow sustainable fuels and hybrids
great to see you guys were able to sort that license 😂 also, I think I agree with most people on this one, feels way over-priced for the quality. take the 1 off the front of the price and then maybe we've got a deal.
I like the way it looks. The problem is that it doesn't really look like a Mercedes. Take the badge off the front and switch it with a Toyota badge and it could be a Corolla.
Manufacturers need to dial back on the button free designs. That said, the power button is poorly placed regardless. The lack of quality control around the finishes from a car at this price tag is also very ridiculous.
I have this and love it. All the negative comments are just quite common english jealousy. This is a stunningly beautiful car in person and is fast as hell with room for 5. Fit and finish is massively better then a Tesla and holds up to MB standards. Sitting in it feels like a spaceship with effortless power. My last car was the MB S600 with a V12 and the AMG EQS is much more effortless power by a long shot. Also, it doesnt come off in the video but the car is humungous. Overall A- and only because the headroom is a little tight to improve drag and charge time. Finally, I have no idea why this is £160k when I just purchased mine in the US for $116k, nuts.
@@jmendoza879 yes AMG. The car was driven by the manager for 2k miles for a few months. I always buy manager cars because it always comes with a large discount. Sometimes they are called executive cars. The car was never titled. I have been only buying manager cars for over 20 years. You have to be willing to either travel or have it shipped to find the exact car you want but its well worth it. The manufacturers give the dealerships a credit for this. Typically 20%-25% discounts. The sticker was about $159k USD. I would never buy a new car that wasn’t a manager car so to me those discounts are always available.
Even if I were rich enough to be in the market for a luxury EV, I would not even consider it. I don't have any issue with the looks. I actually have seen it in real life and like the looks, but the massive pointless infotainment center and lack of physical buttons, decades of tested and perfected ergonomics for cars, is totally off-putting. Another thing is, this Merc with obvious quality issues cost twice as much as the soon to arrive Lotus luxury EV SUV, which actually outperforms it. The Lotus would also be much more special in every way.
It’s known that Mercedes AMG S Klass has always been over £100k. But with electric cars booming cars price has exploded. And people’s earnings don’t follow up. Innovation has a price. I think I would rather go for hybrid cars.
Madness to pay that for an EV, they are way overpriced as it is. Even your fuel bills won’t even come to that during the life of the car. 160K to sit at service stations charging your car 🤦♂️
Every single car with less popular views towards the appearance: Rory: “the more time I spend with it, the more it grows on me.” I think I’m seeing a pattern… 😂
I'm sure if you watched the first upload you'd have seen the unlicensed software screens that kept flashing up every now and again. This upload fixes that issue.
I'd love to be a usability tester for car brands that have these ridiculous high-end touch screen systems. I worked in a similar role for an IT app development firm. You would take what the client wanted, and streamline it for ease of use, user engagement, and aesthetic testing, to ensure the app make you want to use it, not get frustrated with it and delete it.
Seing how it's built and what it costs I think the overall verdict is actually quite generous. This doesn't even feel like a proper Mercedes, let alone a top of the range one. If it's going to be built like a Tesla there is no point in this car or the EQ range as a whole. I would have the Taycan every day of the week over this.
Rory, i'm not being picky, but; does the wheel size depend on the temperature on the day? I guess the wheels expanded from 20 to 21 inch as the day warmed up?
Thank you for this video. Looking at different reviews, Mercedes really got it wrong with the EQS, it is just not worth the price. They need to really get the quality issues sorted out. The Maybach EQS SUV and the new E class look amazing, but the question now with Mercedes is whether their cars really can have what their customer truly need and required.
Totally agreed! I only explain it as a complete new platform and very early copy, Mercedes is most known for perfection, they need to get it right - most likely they did already, anybody driving a recent EQS?
It does worry me slightly that people think this car is a good design...the whole "it's grown on me" comment basically suggests you've just come to accept it, not that its any good. It is a desperately boring blob with no character whatsoever. Yes I know it's for efficiency but come on, with the way batteries are improving we won't need to scrimp and scrape for every mile - so for christ sake give us a good looking car....
The comments on the “build quality” of the centre console controls is not valid, the guy doesnt realise the control is tactile and the whole control moves when you press a button - it’s designed that way. And the comments about the passenger screen being unnecessary? No more unnecessary than rear screens for passengers
I don't understand Mercedes continually pricing some of their vehicles into high-end 911 or exotic brand price ranges. Who is spending near 200k on a Mercedes? No one. That's why things like the new SL aren't selling.
The build quality is shocking. Also capacitive buttons = lazy, cheap, dangerous and idiotic.. Good physical buttons with the right feedback after a luxury. Mercedes cheaping out and charging more.
Mercedes used to make beautiful cars like the 230 . Please tell me if i am wrong here. The tec is amazing, the look of the front of the car looks awful!. Like cheep melted plastic . If they whent back to there roots of design. More classic elements ( yes i no is about the max range) but if you can spend that amount of money on a car. You're not going to be that worried about that. Please Mercedes make beautiful cars again like the 280sl (w113). ( Take care you all )
B - is good. But I believe it should have been given at least B or B+ because those things you make mentioned of are peripheries to the workings of the car. Apart from the handle of the door lock that is not rigid I don't see the others as inconvenient as they seem.
Cant be more than a C when so ugly youd be embarrassed yo bring it home Also more than 80% for launch isnt good enough, 50% maybe but 80 Also agree with those screens, well i don't agree, i hate them
It's nice. But when you consider the price, would you buy this or a similar priced Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo? _That's the "estate version"._ _I know what I'd go for and it would be the Merc!_
Bring back the unlicensed frames!
For 160K I would expect absolute perfection inside and out...
