Holy moly! Thank God I refuse every single drug my doctor suggest. He gave up years ago. Haven't seen him in 4 years anyway and I'm still here living the keto lifestyle. I'm a 74 year old woman doing great. These doctors just scare the hell out of you, just change what you're eating.
I'm with you!
I am also with you on that! For almost 18 months I had stopped seeing Doctors for ordering me medicines that was making me lose hair and bleed profusely and when I brought it to these doctors attention all they could offer is " Well my other patients don't complain about this; they don't have these complaints!" 😏🤬😢
That's what I'm working on I have hypothyroidism & that & hyperthyroidism. It can cause problems I lost my eyebrow hairs from radio active iodine done to me. It was because I had hyperthyroidism. I have really thick hair I have had Cancer twice I got scared of losing my hair. Luckily I didn't have to do chemotherapy. Because they got my Cancer early twice. But because of the mastectomies I have had a difficult time losing weight. I quit psychiatric medications because of the side effects. My doctor gave me promission to go off of the drugs. They're not healthy for you.
Believe me my doctor couldn't care less if I had any hair as long as he is making his money
Congrats for reaching 1M subscribers!!!
How about a video on what is good for hair growth? Tks.
@@siamakkhodadoust6393 I'm not sure about every one but my friend has a severe eating disorder and her hair fell out in clumps. I do believe the two are correlated.
The two things that helped me the most was vitamin d (sulphated from sunlight) & soaking hair and scalp in powder MSM apparently sulphur makes up keratin which is a building block of hair. Even with hypothyroidism I grew my hair back thicker by doing this w.o hormones. Takes about 4 months to see the big change in follicles. & lets just say I tried evverrrything
@@katiie7 I'm going to to try that too! Thanks for the tip. 👍
Katie • what do you mean by “soaking”?
Get a divorce and quit pulling your hair out.
I wanted to PERSONALLY take the time to say Thank you! Great news for me personally today, all my labs at the VA clinic came back normal, and just a few months ago I was diabetic, with high blood
pressure, could not sleep ect. This diet and lifestyle has changed my life...Woohoo!!!!! I no longer need or take any medications....
CONGRATS on over one million subscribers!!!
I sure appreciate you doing all this great research for us! It’s great to know. Thank you Dr Berry!!
Wow. Thank you Dr. Berry. I appreciate you taking the time to compile this list. I appreciate all your videos, for that matter. I began eating carnivore after watching one of your videos and have now lost over 70 pounds and my psoriasis is nearly gone. 😊🙏
I have learned so much from you. I have always researched any meds I am prescribed. Never thought about NSAIDs causing hair loss. Wish I could find a doctor in southern Missouri like you!
Thank you, Dr. Berry! I give out your RUclips address almost every night at work. I am a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist and the majority of our patients are T2D with many comorbidities. You have helped me reverse my insulin resistance, IBS, SIBO, hypothyroidism, and who knows what else. I cant thank you enough for all you do!
Thank you for your expertise and generosity getting your information to us.
Thank you 🙏 I really needed this!
Excellent informative message! So many ppl be blaming keto for their hair loss-
it’s the other meds and crap they still take...
Great video Dr. B, thank you for taking the time to find all these medication‘s.!! This was a big help and I think it’s going to help many people!!
As a woman, I am more concerned with the growth of facial hair. It is not hereditary on either side of my family.
I take thyroid meds and my hair used to fall like rain. I noticed an improvement when I started keto 6 months ago, but now I'm a proud carnivore since the first of January and the hair loss is definitely getting better, the hair is stronger actually! 💪🥩
@lolol Shave your head bald:)
Thank you for another informative video!!
Thank you for all the hard work u do for people 😍 Highly preciated ❤️❤️
Probably easier to do a video on what does not cause hair loss. Thank you Doc.
Your the best. So inspiring. I tell everyone to watch you. Including my own Dr. He’s very supportive of Keto and the info I’ve shared with him that I’ve leaned from you. Thanks so much
So thankful for this video. Youre the best ever. What about putting trentanoin cream directly on your face as a part of your skin care routine?
❤️Good video Dr Berry. I’ve been diagnosed with Parkinson’s and I am taking carb/levo. My hair is very fine, but now it is falling out, I have bald spots that I can’t cover up no matter which way I comb it. It is very embarrassing. 😢 Is there something I can do to make my hair grow back? Thank you in advance for your answer! Congratulations on the birth of your handsome little man, what a precious little blessing! 🤗
Oh thanks Dr Barry you're very knowledgeable and very and very good at what you do and I really appreciate these podcasts that you produce and I appreciate you very much my name is Lem .
✨Uh oh!! I've been taking ibuprofen my whole life for sinus headaches and now for muscle pains in my legs. Oh how I wish you were my physician. Love your informative videos!
Deborah Butler wow, that’s actually a shame but hey, he gives great info to thousands who would otherwise remain clueless. I would have never know that calories in, calories out is nothing but BS pushed by the big cola corps.
Oh my goodness. Thank you! I had no clue about antibiotics, accutane, peptide, ibuprofen, HBP medicine. Lord have mercy. Thank you wisdom.
Hi Doc thanks very much for this info, will go see my Doc to see if we can change meds. Much appreciated
Great video! I’ll pass this on.
Thank you so much for this info! Now how about a video on drugs that can cause tinnitus?
90% of medical practitioners don't know shit about the pharmaceuticals they prescribe. They trust everything they're told by their boss and pharmaceutical sales reps. Instead of doing their own research.
Thank you Doc!
Great video!
Thanks, Dr Berry 😊
Sometimes I wish I lived in Kentucky near Dr Berry instead of London. This is one of those times. If you're one of his patients, you're one of the lucky few. Totally exceptional.

Also, the sudden malnutrition from an untreated Crohn’s flare combined with onset of menopause...yaaay me 👍🏼
Not sure you will see this bit are you still on keto or carnivore with Crohn and if so how does it go?
@@jorty. hi :)
I am mostly ketovore. My gut seems to be in remission for a couple years now.
Ty Doc!
good video on hair.
Great content!
Thanks for the info, I’m on several of these. No wonder I feel like I don’t have very much hair. But it’s a catch 22. You have to take medicine to live. I need to check your description. I don’t tank you mention steroids but I’m not sure.
I can not take any type of NSAIDs because I lose hair in clumps. Thank you for sharing such important information.
Eggs will grow hair, but sugar will make it fall out!
really? So hard boiled eggs is a good deal but then too much sugar consumption will make it fall out? crazy
Thanks Dr. Ken.
Also, all CGRP inhibitors now prescribed for migraine prevention, cause major hair loss. Not only do they not work, they cause amazing hair loss--some people to near bald.
Hey Ken I’m not sure if you’re going to see this but is oral ketoconazole different from the topical? I see often that nizoral or any shampoos containing ketoconazole can actually block dht in the scalp, causing less shedding and even regrowth. Opinion?
I have had hair loss you named some of the meds I’m on or been on so it’s good to know thanks
Thank you
I have been on a low dose birth control pill of progesterone and estrogen since I was 15. I am turning 30 this year. My OB/GYN doctors have told me that birth control pills do not cause hair loss even though I told them I started losing a lot of hair suddenly within the last 2-3 years. I was vitamin d deficient which I’ve read can cause that but I’m still losing hair, hair loss and alopecia do not run in my family. I had my thyroid levels checked, all normal. I’ve also developed a really random hive condition named dermatographic urticaria within the last 4 years as well and had other scalp issues prior to hair loss that stopped prior to hair loss. I’m getting a little irritated with doctors. I have a feeling it’s my birth control but im also afraid to get off of it because I don’t want my cycles to be all wonky and irregular.
Long video - sweet!
Thanks Dr.Berry love your information, but really miss you being my primary Dr.
I dye my hair about every 3 months to get rid of gray or white hair coming in because of my age. I have been doing this for about 10 years. I have been Keto for over a year and have started noticing some hair loss at my temple. I have very thick hair or use to. I use the least offensive hair dye, those without ammonia. Would dying my hair this way cause hair loss?
Interesting!! I was prescribed antibiotics to treat my hair loss. Unbelievable
I take quite a few medications on your list.
Thanks for this very informative video. How can I save my hair while taking Eliquis for almost 2 months now? Thanks so much!
My man, Dr. Berry! ✌️ 🐯
Hello Doctor- I think you mention ketoconazole a anti fungal as creating hair loss. But below summary says actual helps to prevent hair loss. Please could you check this.
Ketoconazole is an antifungal medication that’s widely used to treat skin and nail conditions like candidiasis, ringworm and seborrhoeic dermatitis.
It’s also a common ingredient in many hair loss shampoos and a substance that you’ll often find recommended, usually in the form of Nizoral shampoo, as part of a hair loss prevention stack.
Ketoconazole is scientifically linked to improvements in hair growth, making it worth using as a male pattern baldness treatment. It’s also easy to apply, since all that’s required is a quick wash in the shower once a week.
While there isn’t quite as much scientific data about ketoconazole and hair loss as there is for minoxidil and finasteride, most studies related to ketoconazole and baldness show that it can be effective for improving hair growth.
One study from 1998 compared ketoconazole and minoxidil to see which had the best effects on hair growth. The researchers discovered that 2% ketoconazole shampoo increased the size and proportion of anagen hair follicles at a similar rate to the minoxidil spray.
There are also animal studies showing that regular use of ketoconazole significantly stimulates the rate of hair growth, even in hair follicles that aren’t usually affected by balding (such as the DHT-immune hair follicles on the back of the head).
Right now, there just isn’t enough data to conclusively say that ketoconazole prevents baldness or definitely regrows hair. However, the scientific evidence that’s currently available does show measurable improvements in hair growth when people use a ketoconazole shampoo.
Actually ketoconazole prevent hair loss if that is caused by scalp fungal infection and inflammation and that is applied locally on scalp.
Oral ketoconazole when enters the blood then it contributes toward hair loss.
I have been having severe hairloss since having the two Pfizer injection, I don’t have any other health issues and take no medications!
Kisqali. Haven't had to shave my legs or pluck my eyebrows since starting it. Always look on the bright side. (Now that song is in my head).
Dr. Berry, this is not about my hair, this is about my heels .
I use to get cracked, bleeding heels when I was on a high fiber, low saturated fat diet cause I was so scared I would die of a heart attack like my mom did at 68.
After I started keto, the dry skin stopped, the bleeding cracked heels stopped.
I’m 4 years into keto and the skin on my heels is getting as smooth as a baby’s bottom. So excited to see what my skin will be like when I’ve been on it for 10 years.
But I do need help with leg cramps something awful.
It wasn’t caused by keto cause I’ve had them since 2006 and I started keto 2017 .
The only thing I can think of is that I am insulin resistant because my cells are not able to get the nutrients...even Stevia stalls my weight loss, and I think that is do to the insulin resistance ...
not only the sugar is not getting out of my system but the nutrients, like magnesium, and potassium which I have plenty in my body but it’s just not getting into my cells because of the insulin resistance. .
Nobody can help me . I’ve tried doing the fasting but because I’m gonna be 72 and I’m insulin resistant, I get nauseous if I don’t eat or I’ll get dizzy.
I wish you could help me ... please .
Actually, since I’ve last written that note to you dr. Berry, I’ve had a break through with the severe leg cramp problem I had ... my daughter told me to get off dairy and start eating keto friendly fruits and celery juice till noon . Since I started that I have no more severe leg cramping at night ....gone...and I’m able to sleep through the night. I haven’t slept through the night in over 10 years . Nothing took the cramps away and I spent hundreds of dollars on magnesium supplements and other supplements thinking they would help, but never did. What has worked is Celery juice followed by fruits like blackberries, blueberries, watermelon, strawberries, avocados and tangerines, till noon...doing that has taken the cramping away . I thought it would raise my blood sugar but it hasn’t . I test my blood in the morning and it’s at 90. Anything below 100 is good. I’m even able to walk and workout again, with energy off the charts good...I hope this helps someone if they are battling with chronic leg cramps .
@@HoneyDrake ~ I'm going to try this, I too have leg cramps and have tried everything to get them to go away ! I can't Thank You enough for posting this 💖

@@jujubunnybea juju, my leg cramps were very severe and to have it end by just guzzling a 32 ounce bottle of water three times a day with the trace mineral drops 40,000volts in it was amazing . Letrozole causes hair loss...as well as loss in bone density. I would like to hear your thoughts on what could help that. After breast cancer, my Dr. put me on a daily regimend for 10 years - I have 2 more to go.
Dr. Berry, would you please do a video on chronic pain, its effect on the body and weight loss specifically? Not the meds, the pain itself. I've been pretty strict keto with IF for a year, blood meter shows low-end blood glucose, ketones regularly 1.5 mmols to 5ish, and my weight loss stalled months ago with ~15 lbs to go. I know there could be others factors at play, but pain seems the most obvious reason, and if it is I suppose I'll just have to live with the extra pounds lol. Thank you for all that you do... I recommend your vids to everyone!
Check for hidden parasitic inflammatory infections. 3D cone scan, gi map, blood tests, stool test, gi effect test. Go to a naturopath who understands and has experience on how to treat hidden infection. Regular doctors are clueless.
Wowzer!! I am taking so many of those rx's! It's a miracle I don't look like a cue ball
Hi thank you for your help, im experiencing hair loss, i will speak to my doctor about this problem at next visit, currently taking simvastrin, metphormin, losortan, ozempic. Hope there's a treatment to help grow it bck, also keep hair braided for yrs, could also be a problem as well. Thanks
i heard ketoconazal was an anti hair loss substance as well as an anti fungal, can you do a video on why it does the opposite?
I’ve always had very thick hair and hair loss was minimal. Not on any meds that would make my hair fall out but 7 months into Keto and hair is every where. Really very scary and now I’m stressed about it maybe not stopping. See the vicious circle? 🙁
Hello, I wondered if you would be able to do a video on keto with no gallbladder and side effects, many thanks.
OMG...I take the bio identical hormone replacement therapy and have been experiencing hair loss! I have been taking it for my bones because I have osteoporosis! Can you please suggest the best course of action? So you think the bio identical hrt is ok?
I love your videos but hair loss is the least of my concerns at this time.
My rheumatologist prescribed methotrexate for my rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis but also prescribed folic acid because of the anticipated hair loss.
Thank you doctor I was freaking out about how much hair are we losing. It has stopped for the most part, I quit taking cholesterol medicine, I was eating a lot of ibuprofen and I'm almost off the blood pressure medicine.
Dr. Berry is there any thing that would help with ringing in the ears?
Is the hair loss reversible if one were to stop taking a medication that’s causing it?
Hello Dr. Berry. I take Duloxetina (30mg) and Pregabalin (150mg) daily to contrast pain from ghost limb syndrome. Can they cause hair loss? What's good for hair growth? Thanks
I'm 61 yrs and I thank God not on any medication never have been, there is no stress, no antibiotics but I believe I stopped growing hair. I'm in Menopause and maybe it might be thyroid problems or hormone in balance. Still my hair is thinning....help!
My hair stopped growing with menopause.. It was the same length for 2 years didn't have to shave my legs or underarms hardly at all. Until I started on HTR (bio identical) my bad symptoms disappeared.. and my hair started growing again!
@@texassissy9845 Thank you fellow Texan for reaching out to me and sharing what helped you. I just ordered bioidentical hormones Lord Willing it will be a blessing I'm hopeful. Thank you again. God bless you for your help.
Dr. Why would my medication cause this to happen? What is going on in the body? Is there any danger continuing the meds?
Hi doc does Wellbutrin fall on your list
A while back I started taking vitamin A to make sure that I can actually see my hair loss.
can you talk about what to take instead of levothyroxine if my thyroid level isn’t doing good on its own even though I’ve been doing great on keto for 9 months
I did nerve blocker shots down my head and neck for headaches and lost the hair in the site of the shots. The hair eventually grew back, but it was so bizarre!
I am not on any medication and have hair loss just gone cut it all off and start over 🤦🏾♀️
I'm on Ramipril,Bumetanide,Naproxen, low grade penicillin, Omeprazole and Atorvastatin. Is is any wonder my hair is falling out ? About 2 weeks ago I stopped the statin just as an experiment as well as doing ketovore and intermittent fasting. I don't seem to be shedding as much hair and hoping this will help
Well darn. I have taken quite a few for migraines. Only thing that has helped the migraines is high fat diet. I bet it eventually thickens my hair too!! Thank you Dr. Berry.
Rebecca Dunn wow that’s fascinating. Are you doing a keto diet? It was started to help reduce epilepsy symptoms. Migraines are so hard to treat. My exhusband had them. Days at a time.
@@rebeccacarraway480 I started off keto and quickly moved to carnivore. I have had severe migraines for 40 years. My dad and grandfather had them also. Them being manageable has been miraculous. No more trips to the emergency room and demerol!!!
Rebecca Dunn good for you!!
Yes please a follow up video for what is good. I heard Vitamin D is good what do you think????
It should be great! Also K2, collagen, and maybe a high-quality b complex.
If we have to stay on any of these meds, what can we do to combat the hairloss? Would love you to do a follow up video on what helps us keep / regrow hair. Please and thanks for this video.
that would be wonderful as I am on a ace inhibitor for CKD
It would be good to know what can be done to help regrowth.
@@jehovaesmifortaleza7031 Does this prevent hair loss or regrow hair already lost.
Agreed, I need to take my meds still. What can I do to keep my hair?
Folic Acid daily will help. I take methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis. You can take up to 5mg daily. I take 2mg a day now, but have taken 5mg a day when I was on a biologic.
I have Hypothyroidism and PCOS .. my hair has thinned out so much over the last 10 years :(
I love your videos. I am on Keto since July and noticed I have a lot of hair loss since about a month in. I eat really good and also take collogen 5. I am bot on one medication, so I assume it is a deficiacy. What could be causing my hair loss????
Hi Tiffany, it's very commonly a biotin deficiency but since you're on keto, I assume you're eating some eggs and organ meats so this is probably not a problem for you. I'd look for a high-quality b complex supplement or nutritional yeast, let me know if it helps.
Zinc
I know I’m going to get laughs from this question but how do you feel about Mane ‘n Tail shampoo to thicken hair? I have heard for years that some use it. I myself have NEVER tried it and almost feel afraid to!!!!!! It claims to NOT strip the natural oils
I've used it and use it on my dogs too.
So what do you think about the shampoo and does it help thicken your hair?
Can metformin and hypo thyroid medications cause hair loss?
What about too much testosterone in my system. I am in menopause now. My hair overall thinned out. Not falling out
OMG, I have been on Amitriptyline for 4 years and my hair falls out by the hand full. And Atorvastatin. Not a happy camper, why in the world don't the doctors tell you this stuff? Damn, Metoprolol (sp) for BP too, I am going to look like a bald eagle
I'm not on medication. I have major hair loss and severe seborrheic dermatitis. Also the skin on my fingers peel really bad on occasion and I frequently get large cystic bumps on my face/neck/chest/back. I tried carnivore and found that it helped a little with my hair loss but my acne got much worse. I also have alot of dead skin on my face and dandruff in my beard. I recently broke carnivore and have had a hard time getting back on board. Any suggestions or a video would be appreciated.
What medications can you take to prevent hairloss. I don't take Ibuprofen very much anymore. It can cause liver damage if taken too much or all the time.
I've noticed too that my hair is thinning, not to the point of any baldness. I used to have very thick course hair. I'm 68, I just figured it's an aging thing. Been keto since 2017. I have googled it and it said that high cholesterol can cause this. Just had my cholesterol checked and it's 350, highest it's ever been. I don't plan to go on any statins. My hdl and trigercerids are at normal levels. Not on any prescriptin medications.
Total cholesterol and LDL aren’t as important as triglycerides and HDL.
Hi doctor berry. Insurance list you nention thyroid meds...levothyroxine, but you don't discuss it in the video...is it an error in the list or you just forgot to mention it? I currently take it for my hashimotos and hypothyroidism and always have loss of hair....could this be why? My endocrinologist is not very open to checking more then my tsh so I'm not sure if stopping it is a hood idea since he says my hashimotos can't be cured there is not way to stop it. Any tips?thank you
At 13:04 Hehehe. Great hair, little bambino!
Thank you so much for this video. I was shocked by some sudden hair loss. Now I suspect the prednisone my doctor.gave me for a cough. It was 50mg for 4 days.

Prednisone can cause hair loss? Can blood thinners also cause hair loss? I’m on Elequis. I’ve been on prednisone since May 2020 and just started blood thinners in April 2021. I’ve been losing a ton of hair…enough to see the difference when my hair is in a ponytail or braid. Also just when I style my hair. I’m on these medications for my autoimmune cirrhosis of the liver but I’m at a loss of what to do for my hair 💔
Methylprenilisone treatment for post Covid-19 pneumonia. I am doing quite well now but my hair loss is extreme. Please advise on a hair growth restoration protocol.
