Many Orthodox Jews, not to mention the majority, prefer not to follow the Torah's order about the "pesil techeiles" because they say they do not know the exact shade of blue or how to obtain the color.
That reasoning always seemed stupid to me. By not putting the blue thread, they are breaking an express order of the Torah, while putting the blue thread, although it is not the same blue tone used by Moses, at least they show God that they are trying to comply with the precept.

There was never a single blue tone.
Every batch of cords or fabric dyed with Tekhelet comes out with a slightly different shade at least. This depends also on the material.
Woad has been proved to be the authentic source of this dye, but this will not faze the Orthodox Jews, who are trapped with the Rabbinic decree, recorded in the Tosefta, that the source must be the elusive Ḥilazon.
