Good to see a flatbed/Reese goose box combination video. Very nice setup you have. Just to add some information for others who may need it, I have a 2009 F350 short bed srw and a 2021 Grand Design 28BH which I installed a 16k Reese Goosebox and I absolutely love it. I have a 7’ Cadet flatbed on my truck. So even with a short bed it is doable but it will hit the cab on a full 90 degree turn. Being a welder, I created my own plate which moves the ball back so I clear the cab by about 3” in a full 90 degree backing situation. From what I can find no company offers anything to move the ball back on flatbeds. So bottom line, flatbeds and Reese Gooseboxes make other campers jealous, lol! Good video man!
Good info . I too was concerned about the Reese goose box if it would work on my cm flatbed with the inset ball. Looks like it will work fine with plenty of clearance inside the box.
Robert, curious about your bed dimensions. Specifically the size of the gooseneck ball box (LxW)? How far from the top of the bed is the bottom of the ball? Lastly, how far is it from the center of the ball to the end of the center of the bed and to the bed corners? Asking as I have a CM bed that and am wanting to get a goosebox as well. Thank you!
We just got a new to us 5th wheel a couple weeks ago and put a goosebox on it too. So nice not to have to drag a b&w companion in and out every weekend!
Thank you so much for putting this video up, we are looking to upgrade to a 5th wheel RV and I have a CM flatbed on my truck and have been wondering if the Reese goose box would work instead of having to have all of the adapters and extra things out on the market to make it work. If you don't mind me asking what are the dimensions of your recessed area in the bed of the truck? Once again thanks for putting this video up because there is so little info out there for flatbed trucks towing RV's
It should work just fine. When I called Reese they said it works with almost all recessed balls. Let me get those dimensions for you here soon. Sorry I just saw this message.
@AdventureEndeavor just checked my bed. If you are at the back of the truck looking at the ball it's 13 inches wide, 16 inches tall and 4 inches deep. I've had my truck at nearly 90 degrees to the camper and had no issues. I hope this helps.
Great video! I have a 2019 317RLOK with the Moryde, definitely pulls smother than a normal fifth wheel pin-box, but I see these gooseboxes are becoming the sweet spot. How much clearance is there on a normal pickup with side rails?
Sorry, somehow I missed this comment. I apologize. When it's hooked up to my dad's f350 with a traditional bed there is about 7 inches of clearance depending on how many psi you run in the goosebox. We took it to Tennessee last summer. We we're on some really crazy backroads due to a detour. I was worried about clearances but we never came close to hitting.
Buyer Beware! First - The Reese pinbox came without installation hardware or directions. The hardware took a month for them to replace and again came without directions. Second - The Reese pinbox DOES NOT have the air valve as pictured on the websites. When I called I was told it was due to a parts shortage and the person I spoke to at Reese even told me that the new set-up was a dumb design. I TOTALLY AGEE! Send me the part! To inflate one person has to literally crawl under the pinbox, while hitched to the 5th wheel, to inflate while another watches the bar. Not easy for a 60+ year old fat man! The valve faces OPPOSITE the side where the inflation bar is located! Plus, the valve is so close to the wall of the box (picture) you cannot install an extension hose. Just Dumb. After follow ups with eTrailer, I were basically informed by Hannah that I have to live with it. Either that, or I could pay to ship it back. Mean while, both Reese & eTrailer are selling parts that are not as shown on the website. There is now a Gen 3 with a redesigned air valve, but they are shipping out leftover Gen 2's with missing parts. NO - NOT HAPPY
Actually you don't. It's not the size but the weight that really matters. This is not a toy hauler so weight is actually less. The pin weight on this is not as much as people think. We don't haul it with any of the tanks full. A dually surely would help in side to side stability, but not a requirement.
Reese makes great hitches and pin boxes. We enjoy our camper! Hope y’all had a great camping trip! See ya on the next one...
Always been happy with Reese Products. Take care!

They are fantastic. Smoothest ride while towing I've ever had. Thanks for the comment! I won't have anything other than a flatbed!

I haven't had any issues. It's a great setup and plenty of clearance. Thanks for watching.
Great video, I have the same hitch, I want to change to flatbed and you solved my issue, thanks
Good to see you again Robert.
Great video. Hope y'all had fun

It's a fantastic way to set up a 5th wheel. Enjoy your travels and be safe!

Great video!
Thank you
What's the dimensions of your ressed box? Our CM bed is about 4.5 deep and 13.25x13.25 do you think the goosebox would work for us?
@@AdventureEndeavor let me double check when I get home tonight!
@@PheasantLaneFarm I would truly appreciate it, Reese will not get back to me and this hitch might be my only option.

@AdventureEndeavor any time! Glad to help.
Looks like your snow is gone. I hope we are done with it until fall now. Have fun on your run.
I sure hope so!

No rubbing with the recessed gooseneck ball?
None at all, plenty of clearance.
I love my 16,000 Goosebox.
The ride is so nice.
What kind of Amazon cameras are you using
How long is your flat bad? What's the wheelbase of your truck?
I'd have to look it up to be sure. I want to say wheel base is 158nibches and bed is almost 9 ft. I'll measure tomorrow for sure.
Not sure if it is correct or not but I heard the hitch is a bit hard to uncouple from the ball?
We have not experienced that from either truck we use to tow this unit. As long as the cord is pulled it will slide right off.
Whats the thing for Amazon for back up
It was called Dohonest wireless back up camera.

Thanks for the invite 😡😂
Some people are always on vacation hahah
Thanks for the video! So peaceful where you are.
You need a dually truck to pull a trailer this size
