New Arrowquip Setup and Cattle Chores
Просмотров 3486 месяцев назад
We had a break in the weather so I took advantage of it and did some chores in the cattle barn. While I was at it, I decided to install some of the small working system Arrowquip sent us. it's small, but it will work well!

In this video I took advantage of some unusually warm weather to split up some older logs I forgot we had. It took about 2 hours to get roughly a cord split using the Wolfe Ridge compact commercial splitter.

First Year With Meat Chickens- Our Pastured Poultry Process and Stats
I’m on my 3rd Diamond C dump trailer. It’s a 2024. Welds really shitty on the fenders. It trails so nice though with the new Lippert suspension. I would still buy another. I buy at PineView.
Kubota needs to use these tractors in order to know that you can’t push the gas and brake at the same time? I returned my L2501 for a L2502 because they fixed the problem by removing the clutch and shifting the brake pedals to the other side. I need to use gas and brake to take tight turns at the ends of the rows in my garden. The left arm rest/grab is standard (on the 2502) being left handed, I use it. Cruise control is an option, but if you mow a large field, your foot will get tired of being in the treadle pedal all the time (non-ergonomic), it is more of a necessity than an option for me.
Have any of you figured on most likely having to acquire a CDL in order to use a 16ft. dump trailer on the roads and highways? Just saying!
Every state is different on how they enforce it, even though it is a federal law set. Some states give you a hard time for hauling a horse trailer without a cdl, here as long as I'm under 26k overall I've never had a problem.
@PheasantLaneFarm I agree. As long as you are <26k, all should be good.
Great video. Very informative and easy to follow. Will definitely try this
Big tex is garbage
Story time
Shouldn't you take it off the boards to check the oil
Awesome build. Curious of the benefits of the beaver tails besides easy entry? Also any opinion on boat plug outside vs inside?
Thanks for watching. The pods add a little flotation to the rear to offset some of the motor weight. Boat sits a kittle more level in the water. They also help to get on plane and add some side to side stability, believe it or not. I always put the plug in from the outside, never had an issue.
@@PheasantLaneFarm thanks for the response. Just finished all my lighting in the grizzly, sea deck and beaver tails are my next consideration. I have a side console so I could see the benefits after your video! I’ve always gone from the outside but have had people telling me recently to do drain plug from inside. All the best
@bobbysmith7528 it would be hard for me to do it from the I side as my bilge pump would be in the way. I use the t style and have never caught it on anything. We've bounced over logs, bottomed out in rock rivers and deep grass. In an emergency I feel I could get to it from the outside quicker.
@@PheasantLaneFarm if it works then it works for sure, I still go from the outside. I had a moment where I took my girlfriend and her father to a bank for lunch and when tide let out my T actually caught on a rock and fell out but I remembered having a spare for my live well, after that I have 3 different plugs scattered in my vessel as insurance, either way we're safe LoL. I really appreciate your words. All the best.
@@bobbysmith7528 you too!
From what I gather, the L series HST was great for you, and you need to buy an MX cab with a shuttle shift to support.
More or less yes. When we bought this property we bought the 3901. At that time I didn't know I would be injured at work, and our plans for this place would change so much. The 3901 has its place, but we need something larger with much more loader capacity, yet I don't see a skit steer as a fix all.
Thank you so much!!
Glad it was helpful!
in 2/24, i started looking for a dump trailer and my research began. ive looked at all the offerings in my area, the upper midwest, where pretty much all manufactures are represented. i got to see all these in person and i crawled all over them looking at everything. diamond c had some of the worst welds along with big tex. a smaller big tex dump trailer wasnt even completely painted on the inside of the dump box!!! after a couple months of driving thru trailer lots, looking over the trailers, asking questions and reading/watching things online, i bought a southland sl714-16k dump trailer. $11.5k off the lot and then more for title, tax and licensing. main reason i went with southland is because theyre built different which seems to be a better design. do your own research and make up your own minds. dont know about long term issues if any but right now, im pretty satisfied where my money went to.
I bought both my diamond c trailers in 2020 and in 21. I feel/ have hears the quality has been hit or miss. Luckily, I've been happy with both my trailers. We recently purchased a side by side and didn't want to use the dump or the 32 ft to pull around a 14 ft clvehicle. I have a well built equipment from the mid 90s, but 9 month of the yr it is loaded with hay. We went with a 20 ft sure-trac tupe landscape trailer and I have to say I'm very impressed with the quality.
Worth less
This a simple issue. You've outgrown your tractor. You shouldn't complain. It's not big enough for you. Sell it. Get a bigger machine. Prob solved. My Grand L 4060, it can lift 2k pallets no problem, its rated for like 16 or 1800lbs but I have lifted wet GA sand that picked my water filled rear tires off the ground and kept lifting the bucket. But what might serve you better is an mx series from Kubota.
It's simple to a point, we have places on this property and others that a larger tractor wouldn't work well. Hopefully someday I can find a nice used M series and keep the 3901. I've been in both the l6060 and mx6000 and I don't think it's a solution. But they are great machines!
Good info . I too was concerned about the Reese goose box if it would work on my cm flatbed with the inset ball. Looks like it will work fine with plenty of clearance inside the box.
I haven't had any issues. It's a great setup and plenty of clearance. Thanks for watching.
If they said they were going to be there at 10 a.m. and it was 18 hours later does that mean they delivered at 2 in the morning?
I went back and found the text from January. I was mistaken in the video. I was originally told between 6am and 7am. Was unloaded at 11 pm. So technically 17 hours late.
Top Of The Day hope all is well
Things are good, I hope you are doing well.
Good morning.
Good morning. Thanks for stopping by the Channel
Slacker…jk good to see you again
Hahaha, I know...I know
Good luck on the new job. Good to see you again.
Congratulations on getting a job.
I have a 2005 dodge 2500 quad cab slt v8,hemi 5.7 liter, 4wd, 6 1/4 feet bed. I've tried to find the gcwr of my vehicle everywhere without any luck. Online dodge customer service and the dealership told me they can't find it since the truck is too old. Trailers dealers they are all telling me that it is 13500 lbs. Any suggestions on how can find out? I was thinking to contact VDOT since they are the one doing inspections but I'm not sure.
Let me do some checking tomorrow
@@PheasantLaneFarm thank you
I found a site called towengine.com it has your truck listed with the hemi, and shows a max tow rating of 11,450 kbs and a gross combined rating of 17,000. That includes truck and trailer. Shows your truck weighs in around 6300 lbs. Hope this helps
Pounds*
@@PheasantLaneFarm awesome, thank you very much. So, let me ask a question, am I legal to tow a 14k dump trailer if I don't exceed the total combined weight, truck weight+trailer weight+load,of 17000lb? Some people on the web says that just because the trailer is capable of a total weight of 14k (trailer weight + trailer load) I am not allowed to tow it even empty. Thank you again for your time
I have PO563 code will this work with high voltage code? got it after jumping and charging with a charger
I would think it would be worth a try. I think that's partially what my issues was.
My drain plug absolutely will not come off.
Great video!
Thank you
Are loafing sheds typically anchored to the ground somehow? I live in Nebraska and we just got a horse and I've been looking into these. However we do get insane storms that being 70-80 mph winds and hail. How would these stay in place in 80 mph winds?
You can hold them down with anchors, some people use the screw in dirt anchors. At least here in ohio, if they aren't permanently attached, say bolted to concrete, you don't pay taxes.
@@PheasantLaneFarm thank you!
Great video
Thank you!
Cool video
Thank you
No rubbing with the recessed gooseneck ball?
None at all, plenty of clearance.
Yours. You a solid dude. Integrity is utmost important. Dad always said good things take time. Like a good pussy. If it comes too easy. It ain’t any good. Hang in there!
Only saw one other video of y
I thought you said land lubber.lol. I was like wow man. Haven’t heard of that in a coons age. Land Lubbers were cool blue jeans back when Hector was a pup. 60’s 70’s.
50 hp kioti?
Thank you. It worked great. I got the code because I tightened the belt, and after doing that, it threw the code. Cleared it and had not come back. Very helpful.
I'm glad to help! Thanks for watching
I have a 7x16 dump trailer pulled with 09 dodge cummins for my landscaping/ tree removal business. I have had logs stacked 3' over bed no issues. Well my buddy wanted a load of dirt so not thinking I loaded dirt level with the walls. Let's just say my truck was wayyyy over weight and bottomed truck bed to the tires a few times. Will never do that again lol.
Haha ya I think that's happened to everyone at some point. I've been overloaded once by a new loader operator at the quarry. My 5 tons and his 5 tons were wayyyy different lol
@PheasantLaneFarm I had just put a transmission in my truck so I was sweating it lol
@@justinsigmon1878 that would have been rough lol
Robert, thank you for this tractor review video. I will be purchasing my first tractor soon and it’s good to get honest feedback from folks on what to buy and what not to buy. Take care and I’ll see you down the road…
Happy New Year to you and your family Robert! Congratulations on finishing your degrees and getting a job in the field that you love! Take care and I’ll see you down the road…

Robert, these are very nice gates. Thanks for another great video! Take care and I’ll see you down the road…
I also only found the one video on the calf restraining bar so this was very helpful. The hanging for accessories was very clever. Thank you!
I'm glad I could help. Not I just have to keep an eye on those hanging hooks. Because kiddo always seems to "need them for something" in the horse barn. Haha
Completely agree with the review, I have the same tractor with about the same hours. Do you have the hydraulics shimmed for a little more capacity?
I never did. My loader seemed to be at the top of the spectrum compared to others I've seen.
@@PheasantLaneFarm mine wouldn’t move a loaded tote of firewood when I first got it, I shimmed it and it’ll at least do that now. They definitely need rear ballast no doubt.
@batterpm11 for sure. I have loaded tires and still like to have something on the back.
Looks great and smart design❤
Thank you. We put a lot of thought in when designing it.
@@PheasantLaneFarm I can tell, I have horses too and you were very smart with the way you set things up, i pet sit for minis too and they keep 2 together in one regular horse stall. ( In the beginning I though you preggo mares name was Pizza haha)
@metalkingtohorses hahaha. Ya I wish we could put the minis in together to free up a stall. They have a serious love hate relationship lol
Full watch and a thumbs up 👍🏻🍻👊
You can get a Curtis Cab on it but I hear they are pricey
The older you get, the nicer those cabs are.
Thank you for the shout out Robert.
I toyed pretty hard with getting an L4701. Just couldn’t justify the cost when I already had tractors
That was my problem at the time too. Money was tight with buying a tractor and house in the same week.
I bought mine Dec. 17th of 2017 and have a little over 300 hours on it.😊
Sounds like you better get to work Gary lol
@@PheasantLaneFarm well I have 6 other tractors and I am a one man band. Seriously though, I find myself going to the Kubota just because it is so much fun to drive.
@@tractortalkwithgary1271 you have a nice collection for sure.
