I’ve seen several video’s of this install with 2 or 3 people. What you did was Brilliant.
I like the way you do in this video very simple and very specific
Thanks Victor!
Great job explaining and showing the installation of the Goose Box. Thank you for sharing and posting.
Great video, brother. I just added this to my fifth wheel.
Thanks, how do you like it so far?
Excellent video, thank you. I ordered the Reese Goose Box to replace my Anderson Ultimate Hitch which works good but, Lippert won't support them if there is a frame failure and 5th wheel manufacturers are following suit. Plus, this looks like a much smoother ride. Can't wait to get my Goose Box in and try to recreate the install you did here. Thanks again.
I’ve really enjoyed our goose box. It’s a joy to pull our camper with it. You’ll love it.
Nice video. Did you notice any less chucking and a smoother ride
Nicely done.
Wow, sure a lot easier than the way I was going to do it. lol Amazing how you can find out how to do anything on RUclips... except on how to get along with women... any tips? Thanx, -keith .
Thanks for the video. I'm curious what you use for pressure in the air bag. I've been finding that my camper surges a lot more when I hit expansion joints and big bumps with this hitch than it did with the 5th wheel hitch. I'm hoping it's just that I haven't found the right air pressure.
I would respectfully suggest to those thinking about installing one of these to check with their 5th wheel's manufacturer (not the dealer) to make sure their trailer is designed for the dramatically higher pin box stresses. The long moment arm of a hitch like this can (and often does) bend the interior frame members. If you really want to haul your 5th wheel with your truck's gooseneck ball, you might be better of using something like the Anderson 3200 or the Pullrite SuperLite 2600.
Lipert has endorsed this goosebox with their frames.
Also Lippert just removed Anderson as an approved hitch.
"The Goose Box is a great solution for fifth-wheel RV users who prefer to use gooseneck hitches," said Jason Lippert, CEO of Lippert Components. "We are very pleased with the results of the thorough testing of the Goose Box, which demonstrates that it is compatible with our RV frame. As a result, the proper installation of a Goose Box pin box will be acceptable under our RV frame warranty."
Try again.
I used the standard location to bolt mine in and I was at 6.5 gap but I forgot to air up the goosebox bag. So did you gain space between the Rv and the truck when you aired up the goosebox compared to not having air in the bag and if you did how much? I have a lift on my truck I don’t t want to sit ridiculously nose high a little is ok with me.
I’ve honestly never measured it again since that day.
I wonder if you really need the safety chains if you already have a break-away switch
3yrs later, are you still happy with the Goosebox ?
Yes, I’m very happy with it. It’s been the best upgrade we’ve made on our camper.
Thank you. Mine arrives next week.
Thanks for the great video on how to install it.
So, I know you've made this a long time ago but what do you think of it now that you've had it a while? Also, what did you do with the old setup?
Great install video! Big difference as far as how it tows now? And cons to this hitch thus far?
Thanks! I haven’t towed the camper with it yet, though. I just installed it last Saturday. I’ll do a review video after I’ve pulled with it a few times.
@@yondersouth6231 Awesome! Thanks man!
Great video, simple and very informative. I am upgrading to a 5th wheel and trying to decide between Reese Goosebox or the Gen Y 5th to gooseneck conversion hitch. Did you consider Gen Y?
I did consider it, but I liked that the Reese Goose Box wouldn’t void the warranty on my fifth wheel trailer.
I did not see you checking the air pressure in your new hitch. Did I miss that? Are you installing Reese No. 2 or 3 hitch?
How long did
It take.
Do you think the 2" rise gooseball is needed?? I have a gooseball that is a reese with .5" rise. Im installing my goosebox tomorrow. Hoping I dont have to drop another $300 on another gooseball...LOL
There are a couple of mounting positions for the goosebox. I could have chosen the other one and I don’t think I would have had to use a 2” gooseball. I already had that one so it worked perfect.
Do you find it hard to hitch up by your self? I'm assuming unless you have a bed camera you cannot see the ball without a spotter. Good job on the install video
Yes. It is much easier with a spotter. Otherwise, I’m using the edge of the dually fender as a guide down the side of the trailer and it still takes a couple of tries.
Review yet?
No review yet. We're currently stationary while we work on our new property. We will be taking a few trips in the next couple months, and I hope to do it then.
Have you added air to goosebox?
Not in this video I had not.
