    I have a 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 HD Denali short bed with a retrax bed cover pulling a 41ft 2022 Keystone Avalanche with a 20k Reese Goosebox and have no problems with a 90 degree turn. Make sure your airbag in the Goosebox is set at the proper level and clearance over the bed cover rails isn’t an issue. The probability of needing a 90 degree turn is very low, but. Ice to know I can do it.

      are using the gen 2 or 3 goosebox? I have the exact same setup but a 2500. It looks like the trailer frame is about to hit the retrax not the actual pinbox. Thanks for sharing it's helping me make a decision between the gen-y or Reese goosebox. My frame on the trailer is identical to yours.

      @@SuperLizbug I have a Gen 2 goosebox. Good luck in your decision, I think you will be happy either way. It’s so nice not to have the hitch in the back of the truck.

      Thanks for the reply I ended up going with the gen-y hitch I live in Arizona and want something without an airbag due to the heat. hope I dont regret not gong with the Reese.

    the best part about htis new design is the bed on a GM is the short bed on an HD is almost 7 feet long now. as much as many people will tow a similar unit with a 2500, the 3500 gives so much more versatility on payload -

    I bought a soft tonneau cover, but I might switch it to a hydraulic lid type cover when we purchase our RV. We're getting a 33' travel trailer. I just bought a Silverado 3500HD. Brand new with a long bed.

      @@JB_WhoWork no dually. Not a fan of them and my trailer maxes out at 15k so they payload will be plenty on the SRW. I really looked at the big 3 and don't think any of them make a bad truck, but the looks and feel on the Ram are better. I know it's not the fastest truck, but that's not what you get a 1 ton for.

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork  2 года назад +2

      Good job, you definitely got the right truck. The longbed 1 ton gives you a higher GVWR so you will have over 4K in payload 👍🏾

    👍information. It’s always best not to get yourself in a tight spot if all possible. Been there done that before, I was working for a company making local deliveries, in an area that I wasn’t familiar with, I had to back a tandem axle tractor with a 53’ trailer one eight mile to keep from making a convertible out of the trailer, trailer was 13’6”, bridge was 11’. P.S. there was a curve in the road

    Goosebox gotcha, standard hitch wouldn’t hit because it sits higher. Also, good point on the chains. Alot of people don’t know that chains ARE required on a ball, but not on a kingpin.

    I would be curious to see your GVRW math, LOL, you've got a 40', wow, nice backing skills, I could have done that but would have taken me a few trys.
    I have a 2014 2500HD I know its older, but I just wanted to say the diff between a 2500 and 3500 ain't much, this is older info but for what it's worth the trucks are identical as far a frame running gear, engine, brakes and more, the difference is wheels / tires and more rear spring so I'm like you JB, probably cheating some on the max gvwr with my trailer, but GM builds their 2500 very good.
    I've pulled our 14k trailer up and down the w coast several times, I get a little tense up around weed calif but these trucks are awesome. Be safe out there.

    The side rail is not the problem it is the Reese hitch push’s the trailer back to far and is more than half the width of the truck bed, and is to low. You need to go back to a fifth wheel hitch for a short bed truck. They are safer and don’t require safety chains.

    • @Averagedude764

      This is good to hear. I’m about to pull the trigger on the RetraxPro XR and I’m worried about the rails contacting the trailer hitch. Sounds like it’s a combination of what hitch you choose and the trailer. I’m thinking about running the Anderson.

    JB let me first thank you for all the videos you have put up for Ram trucks and RV's. What was the turning degree on the GMC till you hit. you think? currently I own a 2003 ram 2500 with a bumper pull TT. I am looking to upgrade with a Rambox truck and go to a 5th wheel RV with gooseneck setup. Dodge will not build a 5th wheel pucks with a Rambox but I see others have the gooseneck setup like yours.

  • @dramc-ov3cp
    @dramc-ov3cp 11 месяцев назад

    This is a 45 degree turn, and not 90. The relationship between the truck and fifth wheel is what makes the difference. You can drive a 360 degree turn as long as you don't turn too tight.
