    Chief, watching you for 10 plus years, I’m convinced you could be a crew chief /tuner for ANY race program out there. I’m talking right there with the Jamie Millers of the world. Why? Your curiosity and dedication. What you may not know, you will learn it and be great at bc that’s who you are. Great work ethic.

      Just speaking the truth bro. There are PLENTY of guys on NPK that simply can’t tune their own race cars and need professional help. It’s not a coincidence that everyone you helped over the years ended up being a winning car and as soon as you weren’t involved, some could barely get down the street!

    At this point, only a hand full of wires and 15 or 20 bolts and the engine is out and on a stand. That's how we do these, so much easier to get and keep everything as clean as possible. To each his/her own. Looks like a nice job you did! As an aside, your channel is one of few that I don't find the "music" annoying! Thanks for sharing!

    I've done it with the engine in the vehicle several times; shop owners choice. Last one was a 2021 GMC 4x4. Not doing it that way again; I'd rather take out the engine. It's a couple of hours faster with the engine out, cleaner, and a little easier on the back. I work on flat rate so time is always a factor. Either way you guys have some nice rides and know what you are doing.

Schaeffers has a lot of moly and a killer detergent package, Lubrication Engineers oil is equal if not better on the cleaning side. Either one will save your stuff plus if you go longer on a change it won't hurt anything. Ive run Schaeffers synthetic in all my fleet cars and they run like new with low to no oil consumption after over 100k+ miles

    Not telling anyone how to do their job, but I hope you took a look at ALL the cam bearings.
    About 10 or 12 years ago, I looked at the first bearing only, and I was pulling the engine out 3 weeks later for low oil pressure. It came in for a customer requested DOD delete with 110k on the odometer. The first bearing looked just as good as your's but the middle 3 were trashed. Since then...I pull and replace bearings. The seal on the trust plate was blown out just like yours the first time I went through it. I've had maybe a handful like that since. Long oil change intervals on all those vehicles.
    I hope you don't have the same trouble I had.

    There's nothing like climbing up a tree backwards just for a show. :D But the level of clean was above average. This might even run for a while. If the break-in is done with caution and care, it might run for longer. This hippie would've used ATF to soak those lifters. It releases carbon deposits better than regular mineral spirit. A brush is handy, but an air nozzle is better. It also atomizes the atf/mineral spirit cocktail for higher high. Special mention goes to music score. Nice.

    • @MidwestStreetCarsAuto
      @MidwestStreetCarsAuto  10 месяцев назад

      they had em soaked in fluid and we ended up cleaning them with the parts washer after also

    • @oikkuoek
      @oikkuoek 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@MidwestStreetCarsAuto The break-in oil needs to be slick 0w-30 or 5w-30 with lots of detergents. max 2000 miles and no pulls. Then you can go to 5w-40 and light load for the next 5K miles. After that oil change, it'll be fine. The slick and detergent is important to get the gunk and assembly lube out and not burn it into the bearing.

      @@justinshearer3016 I don't do complements, not my style. But I do do constructive criticism, and give positive feedback when I see positive results. None of this is personal, or focused on negativity. Neither of those will benefit the progress. My goal here is MWSC&A at the top, and Crow with CJ into the winner's circle in Yellobelly, against Cantu, KcMaxx and Nate on 28's. • @MidwestStreetCarsAuto
      @MidwestStreetCarsAuto  10 месяцев назад

      we were annoyed of cleaning and slacked on the filming lol but we put each cylinder to the top and cleaned it mostly with a razor blade carefully for the big pieces and then used the fine scotch brite pads with parts washer solvent or brake clean and scrubbed on them (wet pad so no scratching) and the pistons cleaned up pretty easy honestly. also tried to wipe away as much as we could with paper towels but then sprayed a lot of brake clean down the cylinders to clean any debris out of the block and then we took the oil pan off and cleaned the bottom side as much as we could and cleaned out the oil pan
