Man, thank you soooo much for showing that 3rd mystery switch everyone mentions but fails to actually show. My machine had a poorly adjusted knob on that switch and it failed to properly disengage. On a 2nd day of usage to make it even more frustrating. Fixed it in 5 mins thank to your video.
I’m on my third one, i bought my first one about 30 years ago when it was called Elektra Beckum. The older version were so much better, far less hassle. I couldn’t switch this one on and just removed a part thus cancelling the micro switch under the plastic cover. Job done
I've heard from many with a similar experience comparing old with new. I must admit I'm rather fond of how simple these machines are to repair and maintain. Thanks for the comment though. K.
@@StrawbyteWorkshop Thanks for your help. It was driving me nuts. These “safety” features seen to have been designed by a school girl! Although everything was fitted properly it didn’t switch on when I switched to thicknesser. All the best. M
Thanks so much I game same machine sat unused for 18 months and had it fixed in ten mins. I kind of knew it would be one of the switches but you showed me how to test - fantastic The switches about £50 at mo! Thanks again
Thanks for this video. I've had the older Elektra Beckum version of this machine stood around for ages so I'm watching as many of these vids as possible before getting in to shape to maybe sell it.
These machines have a good resale value and are popular in commercial workshops, so a repair ensures it's safety features are maintained and helps if I come to sell it. Thanks for watching.
Very satisfying when you get something like this repaired and especially annoying when you buy something second hand that worked before you picked it up. I would get rid of those things to push the wood though, when they slip as easy as that it makes them really dangerous. Great job.
Hi I've had one of these planers for 10 years now. Never had the switch fault. But I'm creating a video on the adjustable fence fault. It might help you. I've subscribed and saved your video. Thank you. Jamie 👍
Mine chewed up the drive chain to the feed rollers, all fixed now but in the interim I bought a Makita thicknesser and only use the planing function now.
I have this planer and have an electrical fault so will test the micro switches and see if this sorts the problem, when you jumped the connection did you just put a joint block connecting the two wires together ?
Thank you for your video. Mine don't work, i've just a "clac" sound when i want to start the HC260 in planner mode.. Anyone have this problem?? Thank you!
Hey there Grzegorz - I don't really have much experience with aftermarket blades at the moment. Mine came with two sets of blades both with holes. Personally I'd be reluctant to modify the cutter head in that way.
Hello I congratulate you for the very good video. I have the same machine and when raising or lowering the handle to raise or lower the plate it engages, I have cleaned it with compressed and lubricated air but the same problem continues, the operation of the crank becomes hard and loose. I have no idea how to disassemble it or what the problem might be. Could you give me an idea? Thank you very much for your reply. I am writing to you from Buenos Aires, Argentina
Hi - You might like to try looking at the technical diagrams you can find on line for the machine. they show all the parts in an exploded diagram and it's relatively easy to figure out what might be the problem. The raising and lowering mechanism is fairly simple but with many parts. I would start by using a degreaser to clean all the moving parts and then use a dry lubricant such as PTFE.

Glad I could help!
People put stuff in the local tip with less problems than that! Glad to see you are a proper fixer! Well done, good job!
Cheers. Thanks for watching.
Good to see you actually fix the issue, most guys I know would of been happy with the bypass.

Strawbyte Workshop that’s very true mate.
Well done with the fault find, lets hope as it goes all one way now !!!
Thanks Brian. I've got plenty of work to put through it.

Yes that's right. Thanks for the comment.
Hello! Do you still have this planer? Possible to share images from the inside of the control box?
I do. If you want to email me at workshop@strawbyte.com I would be happy to send son pictures.

Sorry for my english. I want use normal blades without holes. Can I just cut them pins off, or I must buy that conversion kit? What You think?

@@StrawbyteWorkshop Thanks! Asking because for the price of metabo basic ones, I can buy good quality HSS blades.
