Frank I do like your channel and your good down to earth practical advice together with your sense of humour. Good repair on the jointer capacitors. I have a couple of tips for you though. 😉 1. Your multi- meter has a capacitor test position on the rotary switch, measures in microfarads +. 2. Unless you are firmly wedded to soldering - Using Wago 221 connectors are very appropriate, effective and quick.😀👍
Thanks for your support Norman 😁. I'm glad you enjoy my channel. If anything I do helps, then it's worth me doing 😁. I am a big fan of soldering. There are a lot of great speed connectors on the market but a good solder joint and some heat shrink always wins for me 😁. There was a hell of a lot that I didn't show in the video (discharging and cap test etc) but the video would have been too long if I had shown everything. Thanks very much for watching Norman 😁👍
Thanks very much for your support 😁. Hope you get your planer fixed very soon. Loved your last video of the wooden coffee mug, great job. Thanks for watching 😁👍🇬🇧
Thanks Lime 😁. I have yet to find a better DVM than a Fluke 👌. I also use an 87 at work every day as well as a 190 scope. I've used others, but I only ever trust my Fluke 😁. What line of work are you in ? 🤔. Thanks for watching Lime 😁👍
Just wanted to say thanks for the video buddy , had same problem with Jet Bandsaw was great to work through your logic . Have ordered a new Capacitor on motor only seems to be one …. Arrives Monday fingers crossed . Your Compressor was a class moment 😂
Wow. Great job Frank. Really adventurous with that troubleshooting 😁. And good tip in reminding us about the static capacitor charge. I had totally forgotten about that behaviour!
Thanks Suj 😁. I had to find a way to fix it... you don't realize how much you need something until you don't have it 🤔. Getting zapped with a cap is no fun..... my old tutor at collage used to find it hilarious to charge up condenser's and leave them on his desk... then let us pick them up... it hurts 😂🤣. Thanks for watching Suj 😁👍
Thanks Rasmo 😁. Oh yes... very pleased 😁. But would have been more pleased if the start capasitor had arrived before I spent hours and hours hand planing the tea caddy project 😓. Thanks for watching Rasmo 😁👍
Frank you’re clearly talented in many fields mate & I really enjoyed watching this as I’m not aware how the inner electrical features worked, this will be a good reference video to when a just in case scenario arises 🎥🎥🔨🔨👍👍
Thanks Dirk 😁. It's always a good idea to find out how something works.... then you get a good idea of how much mess it's going to make when it decides to take chunks out of your hands 🤪🤪🤞. Thanks for watching Dirk 😁👍🇬🇧
Skills Frank, I had no idea the fluxs capacitor could cause such issues your lucky you didn't go back in time to 1984 😂 seriously though mate nice fix.
My table saw bows fuses in the plug regularly. It only has one capacitor,I’ve changed it for a new one. It still blows fuses. This only happens on start up,it never bogs down during a cut. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks
😁 Hi Jim. On my one the wires are NOT polarity contious (so it can be fitted either way). Please check carefully that there are no + or - marks on your one, but it should be OK either way. Thanks for watching Jim 😁👍
@@frankslittleworkshop thank you sir i will be carefull just have to wait for min to be delivered my planer is 16amp both my capacitors are 80uf. all the best.
great vid im having same issue so ordered a new capasitor one concern the one that's fitted now has 2 leads which are both black new one are red and black does it matter which way round they go
😁 Hi "Yorkshire lad", I can really only comment on how my machine is configured. You can see mine has the same colour wires so the polarity is not an issue. I can only assume the new one you have may be different. The fact it has red and black would indicate its polarity is important. If you are unsure please do not proceed, but get a qualified electrician. Alternatively you could try and get the correct cap. Again, I can only comment on my machine. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching 😁👍
@@theyorkshirelad. 🤔 Hi, sorry I don't have a blade change video. I will need to change them soon so will do one then. But it won't be for a little while yet. Sorry mate 😔.
Would just replace the pair,as the cost for start & run Capacitors use to be around a tenner for the pair, & speaking from experience, if one has gone, expect the other to follow..
😁 That is good advice to replace both at the same time. But its been two years ago now and its still going strong. So I think ill leave it for now 😁. Thanks for watching Stuart 😁👍
Great! Very honest explanation! Thank you!
😁 Thanks very much for your feedback. And thanks for watching 😁👍
