I’ve caught blue gill every year since then, but that’s where and when I got hooked! Thanks for taking me back there!🤪🤪 it was good for me!

    Nice time catching bluegills. I remember once going to a local pond that no one fished for years but it was stocked some time ago. I was bass fishing with worms and caught a 9" long bluegill. It was almost as tall as it was long! Wow did that thing put on a show of strength. We had never seen such a big bluegill. Some years later I was in my car outside at a local fishing dive (The Tackle Box) and two guys came out to weigh a fish. This thing was so big I could see teeth on it from inside my car 15' away. Well that was it, I had to see what it was. Sure enough it wasn't a bay fish but a truly giant fresh water bluegill 13" long. What a fight it must have been to reel that thing in. I think it may be the record bluegill for Maryland. My record was 9" and was just fine, only caught one and that's fine too. Thanks for your video, brought back memories of catching a honey hole of bluegills on a canoe trip. Wish I had pictures of that day too.

    Thanks for sharing. The Mitchell 408 high speed ultra-light reels helped bring the ultra-light spinning rods and reels to the USA. Years ago, the yellow fibergalss feather light model spin rods by Eagle Claw were the rod of choice. The fish line back then was big diameter by today's standard. Many of us UL fisherman would leader out with fly fishing tapered leaders to animate the baits, luress and jigs better. The Mitchell's were made in France, Now days so much of our tackle is of Asian origin. I enjoy vintage rods, reels, and tackle the most. However, when it comes to fly rods, I go with USA bamboo rod builders for pan fishing, though I really like the Shakespeare Wonderod fly rods 7' and under that cast with #4-weght and 5-weight fly line. I also have taken a fly rod and converted it to a spin rod...great fun! I enjoy your videos and how you approach fishing. Have a great season! Ron, NE Iowa.

My wife has this huge plastic salad bowl with a lid put 3 cups drakes mix salt and pepper to what you like drop your filets in dry mix put lid on bowl and shake for a few minutes filets should be coated completely. Now the wet mix take a large bowl pour in two of your beers mix in

    I'm way late to this channel, but I've seen quite a few videos now, and I can't figure out who the hell is Elmo?

    • @mwatkins2464
      @mwatkins2464 5 лет назад +18

      King Geedorah Elmo is his fishing partner that’s in poor health and real ugly . He always has an excuse to why he can’t fish. He has bad infection in his toe nails with hair growing out of them but he won’t cut em . He’s also imaginary in Richard Genes mind !!! 👍👍

    I have two or three Mitchel 300 reals. One I bought while stationed in Scotland in the Navy, that was 1962.

    That's exactly how I ended up doing it at Greers Ferry.
    Tried a ton of other ways. This is the way that works best 75% of the time for me.

    I would like to see how you prepare your Bluegill. It seems everybody has a different way of fixing Bluegill, as slight as it may be, it can mean the difference between good tasting, and fantastic tasting fish.

    Nightcrawlers cut into pieces works so nicely. Those bluegills tend to swallow the worm.

    That’s a country talking joker there bo! My type of person to be around. I know you can learn a lot from old timers like this, and I can tell from that last statement in the video… “The Most important thing of it all is to get out here and enjoy yourself. Forget everything that’s bad, this [fishing] will take care of it.”

    I have got to tell you, my daddy cut us kids teeth fishing and taught us in Canada on a lake called Oak Lake. And we lived in Ohio at the time. Got to tell you, we love the way you make these videos. keep doing it. Go to Canada sometime. Would love for you to go to Drummond Island Michigan and get some of those Perch and Walleye. MMMMMM good eating. And you will have some of the best time of your life.
