I appreciate how you kill the fish humanely. The biggest bluegill I caught was just over 2 lbs, fishing on the bank of a neighbor’s five acre pond with a cane pole (made by my granddaddy) and a cricket as bait. Caught another one nearly that size right after. Mounted them both on a piece of driftwood. This was roughly ten years ago when I was still a kid. They’re still hanging on my wall. After watching you fish and people on a couple other channels fish, I need to grab my cane pole, go to my favorite fishing hole, and get serious.
It's so weird to see you fishing that spot I've tried it in the summer and I usually only get small bass but if you try the little pond along the fence along the freeway behind the college there's a five pound bass I've caught there before
Try this season fish i filet one side then coat other side. Give the fish a light dusting of flour, dip in buttermilk and then into seasoned cornmeal. Then deep fry. You will never fry fish another way. The flour acts like glue causing cornmeal to stick to it. Soak fish ten minutes in a little vinegar and water., then rinse well It will take fishy taste away
Hey man I love these videos keep it your the reason i keep continuing to fish you should come to California and I can show you come really good trout fishing spot
To be honest I love catching big fish but I’m satisfied catching any fish. It’s a plus bluegill give a nice fight but I’m never going to the lake thinking I want to catch the biggest fish. I want to catch all fish!
Chicken wings coated with mustard, my gosh give it a try lol. Urban fishing has a place too, search for those crappies and white bass would love to see it!
Please, if you didn’t know, you can eat the eggs if they are prego! I hate to see good food go to waste. They are really tasty fried up with the fish!!👍🏼👍🏼
I know I'm gonna get some hate for this but as table fare i hate bluegills but they fill the void when the bass are giving me the middle finger 😂. Also I must add you dont fillet bluegill they're meant for the deep fryer with fins attached just remove head, guts and scales
One of my old lunch break spots. Nice work on those slabby gills. The mustard thing about made me gag, but that's because I think mustard is terrible.😂 Nice to see you up in my valley.
My dad took us kids fishing back in the day,he would catch a big mess of sun fish, and cleaned them like your talking about, heads, scales and guts, then mom cooked them for supper, good eatin.
Period!! I soak mine in salt water with lemon juice for about an hour, coat with Andy’s Cajun and Red fish batter, then off into the deep fryer! The best fish ever y’all
Always keep the skin on. Youll get a lot more meat way bigger filets. You dont taste the skin like you would a trout. Bluegill is one of mh favorite fish to eat
9:22 brings back good memories

Loved how you mixed it up! And now I have a new recipe to try! Thanks!🎣
Man that second bluegill, what a horse.
These catch and cook vids on different species r so cool

Nice
@@underleft What city is this, beautiful views while fishing. I would dream of being there.
I ain't telling you what nor the state😂
@@CastawayFishn I understand. I'm in Florida so would never make it there but don't want your spots being flooded with ppl. All good.
@@Pierce0420looks like michigan or minnesota
Awesome! It's definitely a blast wrestling the big bluegill to the bank, totally agree. Fun to tight-line for also.
Worms or Crickets will catch anything

Hard to beat those big bluegill! I love mustard on catfish!
I like to have a good old crappie fish fry. Those are good very time
Try cooking then hole it's mighty tasty also ... Big like on your cooking shore lunch fish on !
Beautiful scenery you are probably use to and don't realize how lucky you are.
Idk what it is about catching bass and bluegill from a small creek or river but man that can really be a fun day. Especially with ultralight gear
Dude I swear you could catch a fish in a rain gutter. Great video. Thanks for sharing
Electric fillet knife for gills! Works perfect
That bluegill ate all the bass you threw back lol
You need to soak those bluegill in apple cider vinegar, you won't have any fishy taste anymore, my grandma taught me that.
I use mustard as a binder when I smoke pork and brisket. Mix a little hot sauce in with the mustard for the win
Putting the bass back in Bass N Trout! I was thinking it was time to change the name to something just trout related haha
Swap the mustard for Sriracha Hot Sauce. Addictive!
Hey man I love these videos keep it your the reason i keep continuing to fish you should come to California and I can show you come really good trout fishing spot
I bet Dijon mustard would be good too. Great video again!
I love catching them gills they fight so hard I started just fishing for them tbh
Dude nice crappie on your pfp! Absolute slab!
@@FredD0847 its my biggest was 2.2lb was at lake talquin

You gotta get some night crappie fishing in, man you’d love it

Man I love fried bluegills.
I'd like to see a catfish catch and cook!
Love some BlueGill!
I use that exact same real that you are using. Not a very expensive real but is a very reliable real.
7:53 that is amazing one ☝️ it was hungry
Please, if you didn’t know, you can eat the eggs if they are prego! I hate to see good food go to waste. They are really tasty fried up with the fish!!👍🏼👍🏼
That was definitely a beast of a gill nice catch
its the vinager in the mustard that pairs well with white fish we do it on striped bass here vat lake mead
6:44 that’s a nice 👍 one😊
Nice to switch it up a bit, loved the video.
Just caught me a giant bluegill yesterday 7” so fun too felt like a bass
Glad you changed it up brutha! Looked so tasty too!
You have always done well at that spot! Nice blue gill!
Very nice my friend
Haha. Proffesinal fishing in a pond full of fish. 😂
Nice fish. That's the way to cook them, if you want them to taste like mustard.
You can get rid of the fishy taste by eating more fish more often. After a while you won’t notice 😂
We use Louisiana hot sauce instead of mustard and you drain quickly then seasoned white or yellow cornmeal
Nice one man, got one of them last year they are good eating 👍 👌 👏
Fun video as always
I use sour cream with a touch of mustard. Delicious
Dude straight up lied to us saying he had already caught fish prior to intro, the. When he got a hit he literally said first bite of the day 😂😂
Video edit...
bluegills are excellent
Great video, very enjoyable content
Is that a snow covered mountain in the background? Its beautiful!
Where are you?
I know I'm gonna get some hate for this but as table fare i hate bluegills but they fill the void when the bass are giving me the middle finger 😂. Also I must add you dont fillet bluegill they're meant for the deep fryer with fins attached just remove head, guts and scales
Those small ass bass. Keep throwing them back!
One of my old lunch break spots. Nice work on those slabby gills.
The mustard thing about made me gag, but that's because I think mustard is terrible.😂
Nice to see you up in my valley.
Where bro I need to know
Love the switch up for Bluegill! Do you just let the worms sit on the bottom or do you jig them at all?
This guy….I tell ya….he can catch anything!!
Can’t believe he tossed those big blue gills back
If you freeze them first then cook them 🔥
What knot do you tie for a worm hook? Great video 🤙
Do you remember what size hook you were using?
Al you need is bread and a small j-hook for bluegill
Awesome! New subscriber from Mississippi
Fish looks goods. Yes, on the mustard fishy taste.
instead of mustard, try frank's red hot sauce!!! Yummmmmmm
How come you threw the bass back? Isnt bass good to eat?
brooo!! how do you get those out of there, ive only managed to get one bass so far thats it. good stuff man!
My reel is messed up on my ugly stick, what kinda reel are you using? It seems nice!
The reel I was using in this vid was the piscifun flame. There’s a link to it in the description. Thanks for watching!
u should try using mccnchees sauce instead of rolling fish round in flour
Can you share the places I live un nyc and love bluegill but we can't eat it here lol
Not sure wgat state/city you sre in but it looks nice
There as many ways to cook these fish as there are to catch them. My cast iron fry pot doesn’t care how I caught ‘em, or how I prepped ‘em.
Only thing I know about fishing is the people in fishing videos are always so laid back
My first shush was a blue gill to
Scale and fry the whole fish!
This is awesome but be careful w the oil dude.
Gotta cook those a little longer. Shouldn't taste the mustard
I love the ugly sticks but they're not good for throwing small baits.
Nice blue gill!
I want to try the mustard idea 13:04
Great video
What rod are you using
8:45 I would keep that one for sure
14:32 looks delicious 😊
New RUclipsr Here
These small fish should not be filleted. You remove scales, remove head and guts, and cook whole.
If there big enough you can fillet them
My dad took us kids fishing back in the day,he would catch a big mess of sun fish, and cleaned them like your talking about, heads, scales and guts, then mom cooked them for supper, good eatin.
@@TheRiverBugProjectyou can but its kinda a waste, you miss out on some good meat

😂😂😂
I'm surprised a Karen didn't yell at you
I've fished that spot hundreds of times, and nobody has ever yelled at me. Most people are genuinely interested and ask what you are fishing for.
The water is not moving, is the fish safe to eat?
Yep
Hey man I fished for 2 years and I've had big bluegill but second one was atoad
. Has anyone caught any bigger than this? I'm a saltwater fisherman used to catching big fish. This looks crazy to keep those guys😅
great video
That's sigma
I gotta learn how to cast like that.
They’re fishy because they weren’t bled, just conked
It goes , mustard , seasoning, and then flour or whatever your using , dont drinch in mustard , future reference
Always keep the skin on. Youll get a lot more meat way bigger filets. You dont taste the skin like you would a trout. Bluegill is one of mh favorite fish to eat
Yooo, can you give me details on the setup please?
👍👍
Nice vid 👍
Wow huge brim
how do you unalive them..
