For anyone actually using this, whether it's standalone or running ubisoft games through steam, make sure you turn off the ubisoft connect overlay. You will find this in your account settings in the ubisoft connect launcher. The ubisoft connect overlay has a known issue that causes the steam deck to completely crash or to cause the game your playing to randomly drop to 1 to 2 fps. For me I could only play a game for about 10 minutes before this would happen, some people get less time and some people get more time, but inevitably it leads to a crash. For me this happened with Far Cry 6, The Division 1 and 2, and Ghost Recon.

@@thegamesapprentice Hey, quick question. Once you've done all of this, is there a way to add your Ubisoft games as a Non-Steam Game to launch independent of the Ubisoft Connect software? That is, if I install Ghost Recon, can I have it show up in my library to launch that game, or is the only way to play games by first launching and then interacting within the Ubisoft app to launch a game?

followed the video and triple checked everything. when i try to start ubisoft in both desktop mode and game mode i just get a screen with a steam pin wheel then it closes. no error messages or anything like that. any ideas?

Yeah you can setup Xbox cloud gaming as well on steam deck which can be handy for the more demanding games like Starfield because they run and look better than natively off the deck. Is all a bit of a ball ache modern day though tbh I miss the old days where a game would just be cross platform with one login and it was straight forward lol
Bring up keyboard = STEAM + X
Right click = L1
As you're installing, if your mouse stops moving / responding to the trackpad, touch the screen, then it should start working again
After the program files(x86) it's not even showing the Ubisoft Game Launcher. Dunno wtf is going on

How do I install a game from within the launcher? I'm trying to install Rayman Forever, but when I press "download", it only gives me options like C://, Desktop and other Windows things.
Thank you! I'm using CrossOver on Mac, but showing me that I could install Ubisoft Connect into Steam was the key to overcoming my problem that Uplay was being launched and not working.
what Mac model you got and what's the FPS like? I have crossover for my m3 pro and not sure to maybe use it instead

It works on desktop mode, but it refuses to open on gaming mode :(
The Ubisoft log in window comes up but I can't move the pointer or have a keyboard come up to even sign in. Forces me to restart my deck. Help!
I got as far as trying to set the open path and when I went to pfx-drivec- x86and HIT A WALL AS THE UBISOFT FILE WAS NOT THERE.... HELP
You installed ubisoft into a disk or harddrive so it's not in the expected location

How did you enter your email and password? The keyboard opens up behind the Ubisoft Connect application for me, so I can't access it.
I followed every step on this guide but when launching ghost recon breakpoint through steam, it says “Unable to detect Uplay installation. Please make sure Uplay is installed” Any advice?
Well im not sure if im doing something wrong but everything works up until the point i try to launch the game through ubisoft connect, then it just being me back to the uplay cant connect screen. This is for AC 2 btw.
I went to the Program Files x86 folder but there's not Folder called Ubisoft. Do you might have an idea as to why?

Guys, sorry if the question is stupid but is there any difference (performance, controls) between playing ubisoft games bought in Steam and playing them using the method showed in the video? I remember launching some games through Epic Games launcher and there were issues with controls - it wasn't set up (while through Steam in most of the cases there is a good setup right after the installation)
All I did was download, add to non steam game, launch and install the program and log in. No need for the extra steps

Hello my friend and thank you for your clear video. I followed your instructions, but I got a problem. After I launched Ubisoft connect its asked me for email and password and I already have Ubisoft account. I tried to touch the screen to put my email and password, but the letters (keyboard) doesn’t show up !!!! I am actually don’t use a mouse, I am just using touch screen. Any solution for this issue?

Just close it down and reopen it if it won't let you copy and paste. The virtual keyboard has a paste button on it too. Alternatively just type it by hand, it's a pain but you only have to do it once

And my other question we all know that when you buy a Ubiaoft game on Steam it gets automatically added to your ubisoft library when you start the game and login to Ubisoft services .
However i have bought Ghost Recon Breakpoint in the Ubisoft Game Store and i have it now in my ubisoft connect library .
Now if i go to Steam Game shop and look up Ghost Recon Breakpoint i would have to buy it again even though my Ubisoft and Steam Accounts are linked together .
Is there a way that i can make steam recognize that i already bought the game on ubisoft and add it to my library ?
I hope you understand what my problem is and would highly appreciate any help !

Follow the same method for the game itself after you've installed it. Add none Steam game, set compatibility to proton experimental

I need a little help lol. I followed your guide to the tee, but the "Ubisoft" folder inside the "Program Files (x86)" just isn't showing up for me. Is there something else I need to do or something I might've done wrong?
Just have to check what the installatiok path is when you install unbisoft. Might be defaulted somewhere else
When you ordered by date created, choose the very bottom folder instead of the top, that is where mine was on the Steam Deck. Seems like the list was inverted for me in terms of the numbered folders.
Well i tried but every time i hit the play button it flashes like its trying to launch then goes right back to steam with "Play" again so its crashing

What does he mean when he says add quotes ? On the park where you add the directory
So that path needs to look like this: "/path/directory/file.exe" and not this: /path/directory/file.exe

Just followed this guide and unfortunately Ubisoft have again broken their dumpster fire garbage launcher with an "update" so it breaks on Proton. Login screen freezes up so you can't login.

It'll tell you where it's installing it on the screen that's at 2:37 in the video, you might have it defaulted somewhere else

Youd have to repeat the method for each game installed via the Ubisoft launcher to have them in your steam library. Anticheat is generally an issue on Steam Deck for all none Steam Launchers. I've not tried any online games on them so not come across it myself yet

You'd have to double check your installation path during the Ubisoft install, should give you an idea of where to look

Potentially, depends on the game. Some you might have to add to steam via the same method so you can run them with proton

Sounds like you installed it somewhere else. First step of the install asks for an install location, looks to see where it says.
All the folders I clicked on are literally written across the screen in big writing both times.

I've got alot of other ubi games I got working just not ac 2 and I love the ezio trilogy so much
when i force steam tool to proton experimental then go to run, it just says running, then play shows up again. it doesn't start the download process for me
Sounds like I can't find the executable. Double check the target path is to the correct file and the start in is to the correct folder. Make sure you have quotes at both ends
@@thegamesapprentice i got it. ended up reinstalling the ubisoft connect installer and it let me install it. was able to get the start and target paths to work as well

Make sure Steam is open, it should come up with Steam Key + X. If it doesn't, just restart the deck, sometimes it can be weird for no reason

Check the install location that pops up at the beginning of the install, compare it to mine and you should be able to figure out where it's installed it

Thanks for the tip. I've got it installed but when I run The Crew Motorfest it loads but then goes back to the Ubi soft connect launcher saying that the game is running and I can't get to the game either in desktop mode or from the steam deck os.

It's certainly easier with external, but the touch screen would should work. You need to have Steam open for it to pop up, and it can be a bit temperamental

Lmao, Steam Deck is kinda different from normal PC, it runs on Linux and you basically can boot games only through Steam, that's why you need extra steps for games that aren't there. There are no such problems on other PCs, is it so difficult to undestand for an average PS user? 😭

I've seen it before where typing the quotes by hand put a weird format of quotes. Remove it from Steam and readd it, and instead of typing the quotes in after, deleting everything in the target box except for the quotes that are already there, and then paste the path in between those quotes, making sure you don't leave a space.
Other thing to check is just make sure the start in box is pointing to the folder and not the file
