Aww not only was that great to see, but it was so sweet how he cared to thank the kids at the end. The whole thing was refreshing, he's a wonderful show host.
This is why they are stars and we are not. Even in an impromptu improv lovely 10-yr old little boys and girls who dance like 20-year old come out and shower them with rose petals. When I do it on the way to work people stare at me and that one dude calls me queer and throws an empty beer can in my face.
+Alan Y That happens to everyone, they just edit that part out. Same will happen to those kids on their way home. It's just part of the biz. Keep doing what you're doing.
Alan Jeffrey Thank you for that, I was feeling down while shopping in the mall, and then I saw your comment on my mobile. It really lifted my spirits up, felt like you were right there with me, you know, Alan and Alan, buddy and buddy. So of course I started a mono duet of "stand by me", it went like this: When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we'll see No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me Oh darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me Ahggggg! don't chug beer cans at me! They are not even empty! What do you mean I am queer? It's a spontaneous expression of emotions.....
Man, it's so lucky that the stage producer was able to go out onto the street and see a few kids with baskets of rose petals right outside the stage/alley door. I mean, how much more perfectly impromptu does it get, right? Stephen Colbert: master of serendipity.
For some reason I've never been able to warm up to Broderick. But this was worth watching just to see Colbert thank and hug the children at the end of the skit.
That's the magic of theatre, where guys just start singing and little guys and girls throw flower petals. And because it's magic it's impromptu, don't you know? ;)
Because he can’t really sing. Neither can Stephen Colbert. This is play singing. You know in their world they don’t have to actually know how to sing! Those folks on the Lion King can actually sang not sing sang baby!
In my head he's 18 forever
+IanTheEarlobe In Ferris Buellers Day off, he was 23. And get this, Alan Ruck (Cameron Frye) was 30
+Francoberry but in the movie he played an 18 year old
I love how 'impromptu' this skit is!
+aquaeyes33 As the Gregory Brother would say, "recorded libe!"

Just hang there man

Only in New York!
That was so sweet, I adore Matthew.
What an absolutely adorable video to wake up to, completely hungover. Really made my morning
Matthew has such a good voice
The cutest part of this was actually Stephen hugging the kids like that was so frickin adorable
Simba hasn't lost that roar
Wow, I didn't know that Colbert could sing. He's definitely not bad.

That was fun to watch. The children were great.
their voices are amazing
Great Matthew!
This made my morning.
I love the totally improvised choreography and back up girls in costume.
That poor girl was the only one not to get a hug lol.
Their voices are so different, but work so well together.
Yep it's called Harmony
That just made my day. (or night if you want to be precise)...It was, heart warming you might say.
ADORABLE!
He still moves EXACTLY like Harold Hill. So cool
Ahh, My Fair Lady... What a good show! I was in it back in high school.
For some reason I've never been able to warm up to Broderick. But this was worth watching just to see Colbert thank and hug the children at the end of the skit.

LOOOOOOOOVEE!!! 💞💞💞💞😍😍😍 Oh my gosh. And the kids! ❤
He can sing!
If Broderick can sing, why did they need a different singing voice for Simba?
Because Broderick is more of a Lyric Baritone than a tenor
Because he can’t really sing. Neither can Stephen Colbert. This is play singing. You know in their world they don’t have to actually know how to sing! Those folks on the Lion King can actually sang not sing sang baby!
@@bobbiking2123he literally can sing?
stephen and matthew are my new ship
This is magical
i just Love it!
Iconic ❤️
James Corden and Stephen Colbert duet album please?
They look like they're about to kiss lol 😂
Looking back from 2021 seeing this kind of close interaction on The Late Show is a bit surreal.
I keep hearing matt "I'm singing in the rain...."
Keep doing this stephen, your show reminds me of the gold ole days :)
That's some real entertainment. Really fun to watch.
In my mind, he'll always be Inspector Gadget, Simba, and Harold Hill to me. ❤️
True. I'll also see him as Leo Bloom.
Ferris Bueller enters the chat
Wow o.O ... great voices :)
Grinning ear to ear! xD
I need to sing with Stephen oml 😍😍😍😍 *puts on top of bucket list* 😜😜
Very loverly.
😄😀😊 love this!
Stephen Colbert pulls me out of the cold grips of bad mental space all the time.
So funny lovely !!!
Talent
Great to see people (aside from the music performers) who can actually sing on late night talk shows and not those who are just lip syncing.
Broderick could easily replace Jim Parsons in the BBT :) He sounds just like him
1 ting I nevr new bout Matchew Brodrik: tis he nevr sings
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo 🖤
If you don't smile at this, I'm fairly sure you're not human.
Are they being sarcastic on the "impromptu" part?
+Merc With A Mouth Hmm...under a debate.
Yes
+Merc With A Mouth I mean, nothing says "off the cuff" like kids throwing flower petals around your totally-spontaneous musical number
ahhh *Sir Jamesman!* beat me haha
ironic
I saw him in a New York restaurant
As a Charlestonian, Stephen Colbert is a national treasure
So cute XD
Ok. Got my grin on, I can go about my day
ColBro❤❤❤

Completely impromptu. No foreplanning whatsoever xD
Liam McCabe no shit sherlock
MATTHEW BROH-TICK EVERYONE!!
wut?
+Modest Mouseketeer uhh... yeah, I heard that too... bra-tick?
+Modest Mouseketeer It was more a "brah-drick", sorta tripping over the second syllable and the 'd' getting lost in the clapping
he had a rose petal in his mouth
I went to look for the related video and these guys sing it better.
Wow... that IS a lot of fish!
Perfect xD
Matthew Broderick gets some access. He’s hired.
Loved the video but what part of this was impromptu?
Holy shit, and it turns into dance.
I had no idea Chasten Buttigieg can sing that well!!!!
It seems a little Miscast or Broadway Backwards.
+splashpont Sounds good to me.
+splashpont

No shit Sherlock
Yeah completely impromptu. This wasn't rehearsed at all.
Is he wearing a kevlar vest ot something?
Holy crap Ferris Bueller looks old now. I know he's in his late 50s but damn.
A. You can never go to far. B: If I am gonna get busted, it is not gonna be by a guy like that!
Now when you say the word "impromptu", I don't think you're being quite honest, Steve. Maybe it's just me.
Completely Impromptu?
THEIR GAY IS SHOWING AND THIS IS THE GUY FROM FHE BEE MOVIE BAHAHAAHAH
Are those Stephen's children?!?
That's a lot of fish.
Matthew Broadtick
Wonder how he sleeps at night

He got so old....also.....FIRST
They look a little related
Ferris Bueller... Is old. 😳
Wow I like fake spontaneity because I am 11
