- We've reached the final episode of The Late Late Show and James is restless...probably because fellow late night hosts Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and David Letterman have some thoughts about his departure.

Each week night, THE LATE LATE SHOW with JAMES CORDEN throws the ultimate late night after party with a mix of celebrity guests, edgy musical acts, games and sketches. Corden differentiates his show by offering viewers a peek behind-the-scenes into the green room, bringing all of his guests out at once and lending his musical and acting talents to various sketches. Additionally, bandleader Reggie Watts and the house band provide original, improvised music throughout the show. Since Corden took the reigns as host in March 2015, he has quickly become known for generating buzzworthy viral videos, such as Carpool Karaoke."

I don't think Letterman was at the same time with them, there's never a shot with him and the others.
Well, Noah was, at the end with the Masked singer bit. Made sense, since they both left their shows.

I was thinking the insurance bill for that scene must have been horrendous. Imagine if something untoward happened, like the set collapsed or whatever, and they got injured, the hole, nay, the crater, nay, the yawning abyss it would leave in late-night TV!
I was already sad trevor wasn't there, thinking why did he go early, why is the world miserable.... then he popped up at the end 😅😅
I personally love when the late night hosts do a bit together. I love knowing they actually communicate and support each other, compared to the fierce rivalry between late night hosts in the past.
Well they do promote the same narratives
They're all moderately bad, how could they survive without supporting each other?! Jay Leno and Stewart were the last ones with a spine

The hardest part of doing this is because everyone doesn't live on the west or east coast. The fact that they all gathered together despite their daily recorded shows is impressive.

@@ma.3363 , Kimmel and Cordon are in LA, Seth, Stephen and Fallon are in NYC. God knows where David Letterman's at these days. I also wondered where they had all met up for this skit - though the New Yorkers all had a week off recently, maybe they used that time to fly to the other coast.

@@lenkacfk7155 I think they filmed James + Kimmel (LA) and James + Fallon + Colbert (NY) separatedly. You can look at the different camera angles and shots
Colbert's acting is top top notch, and Seth's closer look bit had me in stitches
The fact that Fallon wasn't there for the phony laugh bit was criminal
That was clearly deliberate.
I know considering his laugh is the worst. LOL He laughs so hard like he's running out of air in his lungs.

I’m just glad that these guys are in competition with each other but are actually friends. As a person who grew up with the late night wars it’s just nice to see all of them having a blast.
Me too. I grew up during late night war era. Gratitude to all hosts now who break the wall.
Lol, they're not guaranteed to be friends. It's safe to say they did all get paid pretty good to be in this sketch though.

didn’t grow up with them in the traditional sense, but when i moved away for school, these shows were such good way to get a laugh and learn a little about the world. glad to they have a good time together
I think it’s because a lot of people just watch clips on RUclips and so there’s not competition between timeslots you can watch clips of Corden or Colbert or Seth Meyers etc.
This was my favorite sketch of the whole show 😂 I loved seeing all of them together and specially Letterman even after retirement 😅

I've never been a fan of James, but this was a nice goodbye to him. The fact they even got Letterman there. Good one 👏.
Well, they got Letterman, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't there. They cut to him a few times, but he never interacted with anyone.
did you hear? the REAL reason he's leaving is CBS is shutting the whole show down PERMANENTLY cuz it costs them $65 million per year to run but makes less than $45 million in return.
what's really crazy is WHY did they sign James (a weak UNKNOWN) for $4 MILLION - $6 million (!!).........when a million super-talented performers would've signed on for $400K a year!!!

As someone who watch late night show a lot, this is one of the most amazing and unexpected bit that could ever happen to me
I've been watching almost nightly since johnny Carson...I was a sm child....this was a GREAT bit!!! Great job James!🎉

@@clintbeamquillope3123 They targeted different audiences, Lettterman was for a younger audience and Leno was for an older one. I wouldn't say either is better than the other, they are just different.
You can tell that they recorded Letterman's part separately, because you don't ever see him and any of the other hosts in the shot together. Probably just sent a film crew to his house.

I watched the very first of Jame's show. He was a hit straight off. It was sad to watch the last ever late night show. The skit with all the late night hosts was great. Thank you James - G'day from Australia.

This is true. I love to see the Late Night personalities acting more like family instead of at war with one another like it used to be.
There wasn't a war until Jay Leno made one happen.

@@TheStockwellNo, he isn't. A good chunk of late nite hosts loathed Leno after he had the Tonight Show taken away from Conan.
Letterman, spoke about it and how he knew Conan didn't deserve to have been treated the way he was by NBC and that it pretty much was how Letterman was treated by NBC when he was supposed to be up for taking over the Tonight Show.
Kimmel, for instance, was a guest on Leno's show and told him how horrible Leno was for doing that to Conan.
Colbert is a well known friend to Conan and has had him as a guest a couple of times and vice versa.
While Fallon and Meyer are under the NBC umbrella, so they can't really choose sides because some of the execs that screwed Conan over are still on NBC.

There wasn't much competition then. It was basically The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson followed by Letterman. When Carson retired, the Letterman crowd (including Letterman) wanted him to replace Carson, but NBC went with Leno. There was a lot of animosity after that, and so obviously there were no friendly collaborations between several late night talk show hosts.
They all appeared on each other's late night shows. It was during the long writers' strike and they were hurting for content. So they all agreed to help each other with bits.

His best thing and only portion I really ever saw was when he and his kids would end the pandemic shows by going down a chute, to where don't know.....Best pandemic bit on Seth Meyers was at a break when Marnie Stern (the now disappeared blond guitarist- I challenge you to find anything remotely recent about her on the internet!)....She was playing guitar on her couch while her little kids sat on floor "reading" The Thornbirds upside down.....

It was terrific to see all of them there for James Corden. It would have been a huge surprise if Craig Ferguson showed up in this skit. Also, Conan and even Greg Kinnear.
