Im korean and my mom said that old school teachers are just like the teachers in that drama. Until 2000, most teachers slapped students on the face, hit them with baseball bats, and kicked them..Some students were slapped too hard by the teacher and had bad eardrums..The students couldn't even complain because they were afraid that the teachers would hit them more. But it's a relief that that rarely happens these days

The Glory is a Masterpiece. Seriously intense. Well acted written and directed The lead female actress stole the show for me. She had brilliant lines that were executed flawlessly
I love how Jung Jiseo, the younger version of Dong Eun, played as Lee Maha in the drama 'Imitation' (2021) where she's an idol from a small company and were underdogs in the industry. Their rise to building a fanbase was so satisfying.
Not as prevalent today, but 20 years ago teachers used to beatdown students. That scene where she is getting pimp slapped by the teacher used to be a normal Tuesday in Korean high schools.

The saddest thing is you think this is exagerrated? Its rare but extreme bullying does happen in korea. Just a few years ago a middle school studeng got bullied so bad she needed to go to a hospital because of her injuries.

Not saying that it didn't happen but extreme and severe cases like this happens when rich people are involved, since they can pay them off with their money. That being said, the majority of korea is middle class. The most common form of bullying in korea (when it comes to girls), is leaving them out of the group/ gossiping/ cyber bullying. Pretty much how it is in ANY country tbh.

나도 어렸을때 선생들한테 저렇게 맞은적이 있었다. 그 당시엔 쓰레기 선생들이 많았다. 스마트폰이 생기면서 그런 선생들의 폭력이 사라졌다. 고데기로 고문하는 사건도 실제로 있었고 심지어는 전구를 입에넣고 터뜨리는 일도 있었다

I graduated high school on 2011, and everything on the drama is so realistic.
Teachers really did that.
Once, my classmate chatted during the math class, and this big, fat, male teacher brought her up in front of the class and then slapped her face again and again, throught the aisle, until she finally collapses at the back of the class.
Teachers often had vias students, mostly rich kids or high grades ones.
When the bullied kid like Dong-eun asks for help, teachers always say "'there must be something you did wrong, behave yourself first and don't make this trouble any bigger."
This drama is fxcking good. Can't wait for season 2. The bully is from rich family. They paid everyone to cover up the case. You can see that the teacher have expensive watch before he slap her.
The bully scene with the curling iron is based on a real incident in Korea if you guys are wondering. Also, some of you guys would have thought that the kdramas were over dramatising the bullying in Korea, but it is the opposite.

@@aiiishiba Not really, but their information got released, and then their parents had the nerve to complain that they were receiving "abusive" phone calls.
The only bad thing that happened was some random students phone numbers and addresses were also released and people started harassing random students.

@@0seunggf The fact that the real life person this happened to was my age and that we are 32 now and her bullies still haven't had anything happen to them makes me so upset. They never once even apologized to her, and the fact that because they were minors the information about them doesn't get released to the public. Like they are really protecting the bullies, I'm hurt for her 💔
I swear kids are so cruel. I got bullied too for many years beaten and stuff, and the way these bullies in the series are so unhinged and clearly enjoy the pain of this girl, all that made me remember my bullies and how they enjoyed seeing me in pain emotionally and physically.

I'm sorry but please understand formality and politeness in Confucius context.
