Dong-eun had no place to go, so she got a job at a factory that provides lodging. Since most dorms are shared by several people, she came out to the hallway and studied with the hallway lights so as not to wake her roommates.
Back in the days teachers beating students up in Korea wasn’t uncommon it’s sad but it’s true, money dictates everything you do in this country… also this was based in a true story, an actual person used to her burned with an iron
Just few things, the shaman threw salts at Yeon-Jin b/c ppl believe that this action helps you get rid of all the bad luck and bad ghosts; so it tells Yeon-Jin did something bad so the mom is trying to get the bad luck out. Factory studying scene -> few girls (usually 3, but sometimes up to 4) are sharing a room like a dorm. So Dong Eun couldn't turn the light on when her roommates are sleeping, so she decided to study outside, and the girl saw that. And that girl took off her slippers to help Dong Eun concentrate on her study. So yes, she is a friend :)

This drama is excellent. Saw all 8 episodes of Part 1. I can't wait for the final 8 episodes of Part 2 coming March 10. This is not about revenge to me. The girl needs to get her Justice. Against the five bullies, their families, the teacher, police chief, her own mom. Sad part for me to watch is that Moon Dong Eun can't be happy because of her current path she is so focused on.
It is based on a true story and apparently the true story is a lot worse. The abuse was gruesome. The abusers have never been brought to justice which is even more shocking. It’s a sick world we live in.
The scene where the mom is throwing stuff on the bully was actually a ritual to ward off evil spirits/ bad luck. She was throwing salt at her to dispel any evil spirits/bad luck that was attached to her daughter since it was an important day for the mom. She needed all the luck/ good fortune she could get.
So....apparently this happened in real life: a bunch of girls torturing their classmate with a hair curling iron. I do not know if the drama is based off of the event, but it seems likely. This is terrible. Bullying is happening everywhere, and it spreads like toxin. I really hope the main character gets her revenge. This drama is insanely good. it's inspired by a true story... unfortunaly. and about the attitude of the teachers, we have to take into account that it was way back when she was a teen. and yes at that time, connection was more valuable than justice; money ruled the town ( still does, but they are less shameless about it). if you are rich you are untouchable, so these rich kids be having the worst character, i swear, they do what they want, how they want , because at the end of the day, mom and dad have the tune to back it up and make it disappear. some are even capable of murder and nobody will ever find out about it, because their parents have connections in the police or with the prosecutor's office.. that is why the nurse couldn't say nothing. ho! and she got fired by the way, it was not her choice to not help our girl. so to conclude, yes korea has one of the worst system for handling bullying. a teacher could see the act with his eyes and still dismiss it, because he don't want the smoke ether( get fired and blacklisted in the teaching industry).
The nurse was the only adult who's concerned but "resigned". The bully's mom could definitely pull some strings and most school nurses are those who are young and needed to keep their credentials flawless.
She was studying in hall way probably because she has roommate and cant keep the light on in the room. The other girl took her shoes off not to bother her studying with her steps.

These kids are seriously MESSED UP!! I’ve seen many Kdrama with bullying in them but damn, I’ve never seen one where they used a curling iron and BURN AND STUDENT!!!!
A few years ago in my country, there was a man who was bullied until death in his academy. After autopsy, we found out that he got a lot of bruises and burns, including at his private parts. It was really heart shattering.
..”And that man over dere hooping! AND HE’S SORRY! HE GOT CUT OFF DEH TEAM!!” 😂 But in all seriousness, this some of the ugly shit happening in the school systems in Japan and South Korea. The show is actually based off a true story about an actual Korean student that got revenge on classmates when they beca adults.
I saw a korean youtuber who made a video about this. Apparently, this kdrama was very much inspired by true events , mix of a korean bully case where the victims got her body burned by curling iron and a japanese bully case where the victim dedicates their life to take revenge. Terrifying.
answer to 27:53 : yes back in early 2000s teachers got away with hitting non behaving students. but not to that extent at least from my school, that's just dramatized. It was more of hitting your hands with a ruler where it hurts. It's become illegal for teachers to hit kids now.
Idk guys but if you really want to process or discuss whatever you just picked from the ep, you can pause or something cus have the time you're just missing out on a lot of scenes. Plus tge subtitles are not visible
I mean you guys keep talking about what's going to happen the nurse without realising you missed the scene where Dong Eun went to the nurse's office and saw that she's "resigned"
Unfortunately a lot of the bullying that happens in Korea is literally just attempted murder and aggravated assault. There are middle school and high school students doing things like this all the time who DON’T end up as felons.
15:13 I think many foreigners will find this scene particularly difficult to understand, but there were really bad teachers in Korean schools until the 90's. If a student caused a problem at school, the parents paid money to cover it up. It was a daily occurrence for teachers to use severe violence against students due to their personal feelings. And the parents didn't even bother with it. Of course, that's not uncommon these days.

Finally i've been waiting for this. Thank you so much
Np!!! Glad we did this series, I haven’t seen a revenge quite like this one 😅. Especially not this detailed.
-Adison
These kids are seriously MESSED UP!! I’ve seen many Kdrama with bullying in them but damn, I’ve never seen one where they used a curling iron and BURN AND STUDENT!!!!
It really happened in the local city called Cheongju in South Korea.
You should check "King of pigs"
The crazy thing is that the bullying in this story is actually true happend in 2006 and even they toned it down for the viewers
Haha the way you think its gonna be physical stabbing revenge, its not its gonna be worse. Mental destruction
A few years ago in my country, there was a man who was bullied until death in his academy. After autopsy, we found out that he got a lot of bruises and burns, including at his private parts. It was really heart shattering.
Oh no poor dude
That's such a crime
Did the bullies get to jail or smth? I hope so
@°ˡᵃⁿᵃ° yeah they did, there was around 5 men who did that him
Your reaction is my reaction I was so angry 😡😡🤬🤬 watching this I can't wait for Part 2 and for her to take them down.
I was HOT!!!
-Adison
Her mom sold her out for less than a thousand bucks in US currency. It's only a little over $800.
The iron scene is based on q real incident of a middle school student and it's even worse. It was heartbreaking.
From what I've heard people said that this kdrama "the glory" is based on a true story that happen to a student long time ago
omg im so happy yall reacting to this!! I hope yall keep going it gets better!
This series was a wild ride!!!
-Adison
I laughed when you said "mama on the list" 😁
21:20 It's not sushi, it's kimbap.
Lol he corrected himself, you're nitpicking
It kills me that what was done to her was based on a true story. They even watered it down in the show. It was worse in reality
thanks for watching, I enjoyed your reaction 🖤
🖤✊🏾❤️
-Adison
lmao the city is not cgi 😂 it's Sejong City it was created in 2007 it looks very cyberpunk actually
실제 촬영은 청주에서 자주 했다고 해요 고데기 사건 배경지
This is a great series. Looking forward to your reactions.
Subscribed! Can’t wait for you guys to see the rest of the episodes
Welcome to the family!! This was one of the craziest revenge stories I’ve ever watched 😳
-Adison
love this react. thank u!! part 2 on march 10! real revenge will really start
You were not kidding! Just when I thought part 1 was crazy part 2 went to another level 😅
-Adison
..”And that man over dere hooping!
"HE AINT EVEN ON THE TEAM" 😂😂
He definitely got cut! His form is terrible! 😂😂😂
-Adison
시즌2도 나오니까 그때까지 봐주세여🥹
I saw a korean youtuber who made a video about this. Apparently, this kdrama was very much inspired by true events , mix of a korean bully case where the victims got her body burned by curling iron and a japanese bully case where the victim dedicates their life to take revenge. Terrifying.
The best drama right now
This k drama is crazy or should I say krazy!!
-Adison
1 thing about K-DRAMA .... you will BINGE WATCH the entire series in 1Day!!!!
that's how GREAT K-DRAMAS are....
answer to 27:53 : yes back in early 2000s teachers got away with hitting non behaving students. but not to that extent at least from my school, that's just dramatized. It was more of hitting your hands with a ruler where it hurts. It's become illegal for teachers to hit kids now.
This is how people become villains not superheroes
That is an absolute FACT!!
-Adison
Idk guys but if you really want to process or discuss whatever you just picked from the ep, you can pause or something cus have the time you're just missing out on a lot of scenes. Plus tge subtitles are not visible
I mean you guys keep talking about what's going to happen the nurse without realising you missed the scene where Dong Eun went to the nurse's office and saw that she's "resigned"
As we continue through the series we start to pause the video to have discussion. That won’t be on the first few episodes though.

Omg finally the glory🙌🏻🙌🏻🔥🔥🔥
Glad we started this one!!!
-Adison
The bro is hopping, I beat he sorry! He ain’t even on the team!! That had me weak, I have to sub lol
This movie is based on an actual incident in the city of Cheongju in Korea.
Yikes!!! This makes you not even want to let your kids go to school…🤦🏾♂️
-Adison
EYYYY YOU DO KDRAMAS TOO!!! 🔥 🔥
Indeed I do!!! I recently just started Sweet Home by the way 👌🏾
-Adison
@@edn awesome! Great choices too, just realized bloodhounds is also on the channel. 👏🏼 (for personal watch or reactions I’d also recommend Tomorrow:)
And this is based on a true story. There was a student who was really bullied like that in Korea I think in the year 2006/2004
Watching this drama got me doing the "Glorious purpose" from loki.
남은 회차도 리뷰 부탁드려요😍
Finished both part 1 & 2!! I appreciate you tuning in btw!!
-Adison
This is a good show.
BIG Facts!! One of my top 10 kdrama picks for this year actually!
-Adison
Hope u upload more episodes soon
Definitely will!
-Adison
I watched this 3 times all the way through!! Love this show; I also heard that in North Korea; bullying is normal😳
3 times!?! That means you REALLY liked it! This show is interesting I must admit! Can’t wait to get to episode 2!
-Adison
@@edn Love it! I usually hate watching tv series and movie more than once; no more than twice after a long hiatus
(King of Pigs) is a crime -thriller drama that really messed me up .It's one of the best revenge dramas I've ever watched. I think you'd really like it .
it’s a story based on a true case
What's sad is that this happened to a girl in 2006 i hope she's ok and doing well
this drama is amazing. i heard that the bullying over there is real. it’s sad to think that the bullying scenes in the drama is based off a true story :(
