The red sun symbol on the flag is seen as similar to the swastika used by the Nazis in Asia. During World War II, Japanese soldiers used this symbol while massacring Asians. People who appreciate Korean culture would never use such a symbol. It is equivalent to the use of the hakenkreuz (swastika) in Europe.
moons teenage actress is just plain talent, she was really good in imitation too. The main bullies actress is so method that she has been getting shouted at in the street, her company has been putting her on korean variety shows to show her cheerful nature. Netizens get crazy sometimes lol
I have followed Shin yeeun since her webseries days (ateen) and she has played positive and bubbly characters. I was completely thrown off by her character as Yeonjin, I saw the devil in her eyes n sweet smile. Goosebumps. My respect for her as an actress totally 📈📈
Explanation about some things in the show that people might not understand: 1. Yeon-jin's mom threw salt at her. It's an old belief that salt can ward off evil spirits or remove bad luck. Since the scene before that was of Yeon-jin leaving the police station, the mom might think that it was a bad luck of hers. 2. Yeon-jin's bullying of Dong-eun and other girls wasn't because she was treated harshly by her mom. It's simply because she's a piece of sh*t. 2. The mention of Han River in Dong-eun's monologue is basically her trying to unalive herself. Han River is one of the most common places for people in South Korea to unalive themselves. Sad reality but it's the fact.
Ye, I cant believe how many people interpret the scene as her wanting nothing more than the cold water to numb her wounds. It seems so blatantly obvious that there is more serious a motivation for going into the river, seeking a permanent solution.
one more thing is that yeon-jin bullied the girls bcz she was jealous of them...she clearly was insecure of those girls.First she had the insecurity if jae jun found those girls beautiful and secondly she was also insecured of her husband getting attracted to moon that's why she used to ask both of them if moon dong-eun was attractive or not
Sadly the curling iron bullying really happened in korea back in early 2000s. Thank you Carlie and Ange for reacting to The glory. It is one of the best k- drama in term of story and plot . Of course no doubt korean actors and actresses always deliver top notch acting performance. You guys are gonna love it ❤
I just finished the series (season?) last week and I agree it's unlike any of the K-Dramas I've watched before. The only one I would hold up with it (that I have both seen all the way through and can remember vividly) is Tomorrow.
This show was too intense 😢 Bullying should be eradicated and the perpetrators exiled for life. To answer Carlie's question of whether the existence of this drama is doing more good or bad, this drama caused a nation wide increase in investigation of bullying cases, especially for people who are famous or powerful. Just this month, a girl who was bullied for 12 years by other girls in her class came forward and revealed the faces and current jobs of the perpetrators. She is on the news and the Korean people are all rooting for her. Her name is Pyo Yerim iirc if you want to see whether there are any translated articles of the situation in English. The drama definitely is helping the authorities crack down on bullying.
You've brought up what many say about bullies when you said "maybe they've changed". I think what the show is reflecting is how it doesn't matter. Even if they do change, that doesn't fix all the damage they've caused to their victims. Moon is permanently scarred. Her life was essentially ruined. Nothing can fix that. That's why bullies must be punished. No buts, no depends. I think the point of the show is to make a case for treating bullying as a serious crime. It's more about making a statement than giving hope (though it will give you satisfaction!)
Yay happy you guys decided to start this drama😆 hope you’re ready for a ride! It has a lot of flashbacks and info that ties things together. Kinda like solving a puzzle.
carlie and ange, thank you so much for reacting to this show!! I've missed your Korean show/drama reactions and this surely is a great treat ❤ looking forward to more xoxo
I promise you guys that episode 1 is the hardest to watch. I couldn’t watch the entire thing and had to skip through the bullying scenes bc of how upset and anxious it was making me. The rest of the series has flashbacks and they can get pretty triggering too but, ep 1 is the only episode where the focus is set during their high school years. Super excited to see you guys watch it though! It is a *ride* but, it is well worth it!
I've never ever since I started following this channel during Kingdom, NEVER EVER heard Ange raise his voice like that! 😂 LET'S GO!! I'm back to watching the channel, I'd paused after JJK bc I hadn't watched all the other shows 😭
i got sooo happpy when i saw your notification of the reaction on the glory . i love your reactions sooo much. thank you so muchh!! the drama is so good and im looking foward mire kdramas on your channel 🫶
The school’s time background is early 2000, and at this time in Korea, there was still many teachers who used violence as lesson(?).(and the society doesn’t look this wierd) It’s very awful to say there was even more awful teachers than drama teacher… I think this kind of culture that was existed on korea makes feel weird to foriegn reactors. Anyway, I’m glad to see you two are reacting to many korea contents as korean 😊😊
Under Korean laws... It is legal for a teacher to discipline their students in order to correct bad behavior and to maintain order. In 2012, use of an instrument (ruler, stick, club, sap, etc) was banned. Use of an open hand was still legal, closed fist was not allowed but enforcement was lax. Home room teachers were still granted the freedom to use as much discipline as they wanted when dealing with their own students, other teachers were not allowed to intervene or question the amount of force being used. In 2021, all use of force was banned. Discipline is still allowed by utilizing different forms of physical activity (running laps, holding heavy objects, while standing still, etc). Other teachers are allowed to intervene if they think a teacher is being too harsh.
i'm so happy you finally reacted to this ❤ i've been waiting to see and hear your thoughts on this one. it's hard to watch, especially the first episodes but it really is a brilliant drama. excited for the future episodes ^^
I have been subscribed for a long time but I am not a fan of anime at all, so I'm delighted that you have gone back to live action with this show. The glory is amazing and you will love how cathartic it is, though you must avoid spoilers. I look forward to your reactions.
I still have not fully watched the first episode because bullying scenes (eSPECIALLY K-drama ones) infuriate me. What's worse is that the curling iron incident really did happen IRL and usually bullying is way worse than what's depicted in the shows.
So glad to see you guys reacting to The glory, there are a lot of hard to watch scenes, but i hope you'll continue watching to the end, it's such a good k-drama overall! Get ready to be shouting at more characters though...haha...me and my husband did while watching this 😅😂
The actors involved in the school scenes all did an amazing job. They are actually in their 20's if you believe it, it's common in Korea for high school kids to be played by 20 somethings as high school aged actors portray younger kids lol. I think Yeon-jin's kid is like 15 irl. Even though they are so menacing in the scenes they are all really polite and would often worry about Jung Ji-So who plays Dong-Eun as a teen as they had to be quite physical in a lot of scenes where she gets slapped or kicked over, grabbed and so on. The actor who ends up playing one of the worst pieces of crap among the adult cast is actually one of the most polite and respectful of all of them lol. Much like All Of Us Are Dead it's a meta commentary on real life events though in this case it's less subtle and imagines what would happen if the victim went and got revenge. It's a commentary on cases of real bullying and school violence where actual celebrities have been outed as doing some terrible things and bullies got away with crimes because their parents had influence/money and could bribe teachers. Violence from teachers was also really common in Korea up until fairly recently. Teachers would often stand at the gate and carry a stick around to wack students with who were late arriving.
The name of the young actress who portrays Yeon-jin’s daughter is Oh Ji-yul, and she is 8 years old (born July 21,2014). She also played the younger version of Woo Young-woo in Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

Mine in particular, the rich kids families funded the school so they were bonkers. My friends were always targeted by them and our families didn’t have much influence when it comes to the school. So we were told to just try our best to not be targets. It was “normal” but looking back, no child should live like that. So when I watched this drama, it hit so close to home since me and my family/friends had to go through that.
The glory was great, looking forward to see your reaction on all of the episodes, and I would like to recommend more kdrama for you guys to reaction next time. 1- tomorrow 2- taxi driver s1 & s2
i know you've finished watching this series but in case you didn't know and in case someone wants to know, the writer wrote this series because her daughter asked her "Mom, would you be more heartbroken if I beat someone to death or if I get beaten to death?" She mulled over the answer and thought to herself that she'd rather her daughter be the victim because she can bring the perpetrators down with her money, but most people are not as well-off as she is, so she's trying to convey her; for lack of better words, support for those less fortunate people (in terms of wealth) in this revenge story
I'm glad that this show exposed how the people in positions of authority will undermine and even punish those who speak up about bullying. It's not just the kids who are at fault. You get the primary bully and their lackeys, the rest of the students who snicker and laugh, providing positive feedback to the bullies to continue, the teachers who know but do nothing, and the family at home who don't listen or convince you that ignoring the problem makes it go away but it really doesn't.
This kdrama is one of the most underrated from all kdramas in netflix like the writing, pacing and acting on this one is brilliant. how i wish many ppl gave it a hype like all of us are dead and sg had.
Yes, the younger Yeon-jin is brilliant in this. I just saw the same actress in much lighter drama, playing a young woman who falls in love with a man who is actually a cat who wants to be human. It was hard to believe hat such a likable character was portrayed by the same young woman who was the oh so hateful high school age Yeon-jin.
I remember watching the bullying scene while eating, and I genuinely felt sick to my stomach, I had to throw my food away because I couldn’t finish it. But, that proves how well made this show is, and you know they’re good actors when they make you hate them so much 💀
the main bully's daughter is the safest character on the show ironically enough. i mean it makes sense - if you've been bullied as an innocent child, you don't want to do the same to another child. also she's a cutie lol the main bully's younger actress is really good in another kdrama, Revenge of Others
11:34 In Korea, from 1961 to 2010, it was natural for teachers to beat students. But since the advent of the smartphone, corporal punishment has disappeared as all the evidence has been in the news.
I can tell u this. If this show is just another simple revenge story, then it wouldn't be a hit in south korea and worldwide trending on many countries, would it😎😎
If I could be proud of myself for one thing or admit to one strength it would be kindness. But the moment I watch shows like this I get so angry at the bad guys that my partner gets surprised at how harsh and creative my insults and death wishes are 😅
It’s a good one…didn’t expect you guys to react to the show…enjoy Another recommendation would be K-drama: Extraordinary Attorney Woo J-Drama: Alice in Borderland..it’s a must watch

The reaction to the scene where the teacher slaps the protagonist was spot-on. Like, don't even bother intervening if you're just gonna half-ass it.
First time to your channel, cool to see a couple of Aussies.
They woke up and chose DREPRESSION! Let's go!
If I could be proud of myself for one thing or admit to one strength it would be kindness. But the moment I watch shows like this I get so angry at the bad guys that my partner gets surprised at how harsh and creative my insults and death wishes are 😅
The creepiest part is that it is based on a true story 😢
This show was great
It’s a good one…didn’t expect you guys to react to the show…enjoy
Another recommendation would be K-drama: Extraordinary Attorney Woo
J-Drama: Alice in Borderland..it’s a must watch
Yes yes yes ❤❤❤❤
