So whats crazy about this is that this story of bullying actually happened to someone like shes even been interviewed about it on south korean tv.
What's crazier the real life event was worse

Asian Boss did a street interview with random Koreans, some saying that what happened in The Glory was toned down.

Actually corporal punishment in school was still a thing in S.Korea until just a few years ago sooo yeah....
Kinda nuts that corporal punishment is very much still legal in many parts of the U.S. It's just not discussed as much
You gotta admit, Jung Ji-so, who plays the teenage Moon Dong-eun (lead character), is a hella great actress.
Not sure if anyone notice, but Jung Ji So is actually the rich family girl from the movie Parasite.

@@eatsmylifeYT Before she got this significant role in the Glory, I actually found out about her from her another drama The Cursed where she cut a short hair and play the role of a gothic shaman-like teenager witch who try to avenge her mom, then only I notice she is the same girl from the Parasite.

Yeah the bullying scenes in this show were brutal. But the fact that the police and teachers just sat by and did nothing took it to the next level.
Yea...so many school authorities and cops are controlled by the rich. Corruption...
It’s sad that the girl whose story that this is based off of never had justice for what happened to her. She had a whole interview about what other things they did to her
Believe it or not back in the days up until the end of the 90s and beginning of 2000s teachers used to actually beat students in Korea and not only in Korea it’s an Asian thing, my dad and my older brother suffered a lot my brother told me he used to get “disciplined” with a wood stick back then 😅😅 I’m glad you’re reacting to this show it’s very good!! keep the reactions coming I’ll watch again with you guys
Some Koreans were asked about how bullying was shown in the drama. A lot of them thought it was toned down 💀💀
yeah, that's just in the school, they can still flee by transfers school or drop off. Imagine if this in the military just like what showcase in kdrama "D.P."
Btw it was indeed toned down, at least the Glory never elaborate on the s3xual assault part which cause that deceased girl to get pregnant before killed and also how exactly Dong Eun and the other girl still working for them go through those s3xual abuse parts in detail.

early 2000s was crazy in Korea so yes things like that would happen if people know you don't have a family or money to support you
Finally it's here, let's go!! The glory one of the best K-Drama I have seen, honestly!! One fact about this drama, the bullying happened irl to a girl when she was a student in south Korea and she was interviewed on tv about it too and it was even worse than the drama.😔 Unfortunately there are many similar bullying situations in Korea like this one too.

I’ve seen so many bullying kdramas but nothing will top this series. You’ll feel all the emotions. Song hye kyo (the main female actress) went through a messy divorce but she came back and showed us her strength. She won the grand prize for this series at the 59th baeksang arts awards
you said this ain't real.? well, sorry to inform you this is pretty much happened in SK.. sadly, the corruption especially in schools that are 'controlled' by money from the rich since they donate a lot for the schools.. that's why even the police dismiss her report at the beginning of the episodes.. SK isn't as colourful as the KPOP MVs.. also, some of the scenes are based on real case that happened too, you can search it up..
Dong-eun is in it for the long game.. she's waiting and preparing for them to build themselves up so she can tear them down

The only thing I can think of that would make y’all more angry than this is the korean movie called the Silenced. The Glory made me beyond angry but the Silenced still has me angry at the actors 😭
Glory is really good psychological kdaram, base on two real stories, first one is the buliing that is based on reacl buliing expirience in korea and second one is the revenge part that is also inspirated by tru story of boy I believe that took revenge on his school bullies. All i can say is that no matter if it is a villan character, hero or anti-hero all actors here did fenomenal job.

@@hennaqayoom1383 yeah i used to wanna move to Korea cause i thought life would be better over there then here in the states (btw the states are THAT bad it’s just media intensifying everything) but now as im older. I don’t might visiting Korea for long periods of time but i don’t plan to move there for long term. Maybe less than 5 years

There was a similar case of bullying like this in South Korea, and this show is somewhat based on that, i don't remember everything but I'm sure i heard it from somewhere.

So happy that you are watching this. I've seen many scenes of bullying, however this movie portrays one of the worst bullying i have ever seen. It's insane that the show is based on true story. There is a girl in korea who was really bullied / burnt with a iron like this in real life..
9:59 no that’s actually real. Teachers were allowed to literally psychically harms kids under the guise of correction or tough love.
and uk what' wild, the teacher hitting the student doesn't seem to be too far from the truth. I remember a story in Korea recently where a teacher killed herself because some students bullied her and the parents have some power so the school tried to cover it. I learned with Korea bullying, it's a WHOLE different level.
The entire drama os actually inspired by real stories and events of different bullying cases so it changes the way you view the series for sureee. Stepahnie Soo does a really good coverage on these cases in detail! Cant wait for more ep reactions!!

It doesnt really matter if what i say is true. They lost the engagement they had when this shit was peak. They know they lost their peak. THE NORMIES and all the others ate their asses. They got stuck on very long ass shows that havent ended and filles their time, and got behind on the shows they needes to do. Now they are in a never ending frustration of not knowing "what show to do next or not". They have panic attacks whenever they dont know what to decide whether to drop a show or start another.

It all startes when they did the Tay's cup of joe. Slimey wellz got them on a steady schedule of long ass shows so he can divide to the other channel bs. And they all fell for it. Not they are stuck.
I would recomend a reeboot. And start all the shows they want, and drop the ones they dont need.

Nah but bullying, especially it seems in Korea (especially with the age of responsibility being so low), is so brutal because these kids know they can get away with it, whether because of the law and/or the fact that money talks 😢
Also, a note: in Korea, they go with the last name first, then first name, with the most common last names being Kim, Park, Lee, Kang, and Jang being a few I can recall off the top of my head
Yeah unfortunately this does and is very possible in Korea school system, corruption is rampant especially involving the rich and private schools. Even many teachers commit suicide over there, let alone students.

Bullying in Korea is/was so so bad.
The bullying in this movie was based on several incidents in Korea. I saw an interview where this guy was asking south Korean students if the bullying in the show was over exaggerated but they claimed that it was pretty accurate and some even claimed that it was basically downplayed (couldn't remember that actual words they used but this gives the same sentiment)
And there was recently a story in Korea about a teacher being bullied by her students parents so bad that she ended up taking her l*fe.
I'm Nigerian... We get our ass whooped and flogged as discipline and it's Legal 🙂 ain't no detention 😂. Detention is a joke here

Korean bullying is insane. A former teacher gave an interview where he stated students would rip off scabs from their victims, pee in their mouths, etc.
Believe it or not this show is based off a real case, look it up or it's very similar to real case. I can't really remember🤭
Sadly, a lot of what her character goes through at school is rooted in actual cases in South Korea, including the curling iron. Bullying is awful over there, and often, no one is held accountable for any type of assault. It doesn't even end at school, as many in the entertainment industry go through horrific experiences too.

근데 댓글들 슬픈게 한국만 왕따가 심한게아닙니다ㅜㅜ. 몇십년전에는 한국사람들은 일본 왕따가 심했어서 최악으로 많이생각했어요. 일본 시멘트 사건도 영화찾아보시면 한국에서도 유명했었던거라 보실수있을겁니다! 정말 잔인한 영화입니다. 남학생들과 그 가족들전체가;; 여자학생을 잔인하게 ...일본영화도 사실상 왕따가 유명해서..보기가 힘든게 많아요 안타깝습니다. 잔인하다. 한국도 왕따가 더 심해지는것은 맞지만 모두가 한국만 그렇다고 생각하는것같아서 속상. 왕따문화는 어느 나라든 심한곳이 있다생각하네요. 또 우리는 오래전 일본뿐아니라 미국이나 다른나라 포함 모두 잔인한 일은 있을거라 생각합니다. 왕따말고도 다양한 사건들 영화같은 사건들은 현실이 더한법이죠. 어느나라든~

I would said it is loosely based on true events, because the actual event is way more f up since the revenge never stand a chance to succeed in reality true event case.

What irony about this, is the bullying and abuse part are based on true event, but the revenge part is mostly fiction, because someone did try but failed and get arrested beforehand.
