The customer took it to Indy for Qualifying, but he got bumped out of the field on the last day of qualifying. But it was cook to know I had my hands on that ending!

Not necessarily. Depends. Race car parts have a very small customer base. So depending on the type of race cars parts and chassis can be had for a good price. As with everything there cheap ways of doing then there are unlimited amounts you can spend. But thinking like that it’s all ways be out of your reach. If you want to do something bad enough then you find a way to do it.

Historic Racing,... is so big that their are tyre companies running off new stock of rubber to fill the demand.
There is some issues with Carbon tubs aging and fracturing unexpectedly, where the earlier Aluminium tubs show the aging before failure, but even that is not an insurmountable problem. Chucking a larger, lazier, but easy to maintain engine in to a chassis, keeps the cars on track without needing a whole team of engineers to preheat the block and monitor every little aspect before it will turn over, let alone run.
Imagine having a current Ferrari V8 mounted in a 70's or 80's F1 chassis, it would be glorious!

Casey talks like buying and restoring a vintage Indycar is cheap and easy. I don5 know much about it but I’m pretty sure a rebuild on a Cosworth will run $40-50k and unless you have worked on big time race cars for a living at some point you are not capable of putting one together. I actually did a few laps in the 1990 Rahal Reynard.

  • @badgumby9544

Putting together a safe race-able car, setting it up and running any Indy Car on a race track isn't something your average joe is capable of. You would have to have a very knowledgeable experienced engineer/mechanic to do it safely. I was a full time crew member on an IRL car in 1999. Just another dude that wants your money. Everybody in the racing business is out to get and spend other peoples money.
