Way different now compared to when I raced LMSC in the mid-late 90's. Engines were all custom with 6.250" rods, cast iron bowtie heads, performer intake with a 350cfm 2 barrel. A very good hp number was 358.
Damn 3k laps before a refresh is a lot better than I thought it would be. Thanks for all the cost breakdown videos you've done. It's hard even finding an rough estimate around the internet and it's fun seeing how you guys make it happen every week! Give em hell this weekend!
I love the cost videos because it’s extremely educational just learning the ins and outs of what it’s takes for y’all to get a car on the track. Then again, I just enjoy the videos you put out 🤷♂️😂
Enjoyed the information in this one. I'm defiantly interested in a video going over the differences in the two. Thanks for all the hard work you put into the videos!
Awesome video man, very informative! Us gearheads love this kind of shit😂also a video explaining the differences between a LMSC and a limited would be awesome, awesome vid man!🤘🏻
Loved the video. Back in my racing days (mid 80s) our engine would be a 4 bolt main stock block. Forged pistons, rods and crank. Motor noted 30 over for a total Cid of 355. Dart aluminum heads crane cam and edelbrock intake. We also had a 650cfm limit. Total cost, parts and machining would be around $6,500 bucks. I real engine professional build and dyno tuned was around 12k.
Cool to see someone show the behind the scenes info. for people who are not familiar with what you guys are running. Landon, for the people who might be wondering, what if anything different can you do to your weekly ride versus a CARS Tour car as far as equipment and any rules that are different? Just one example: If the cars tour group was gonna run twins at Hickory, would the 20 lap tire rule apply like it does to the weekly group? Can you do anything different to the chassis etc? See you Saturday!
Looks like a super T10, as for the transmission, aluminum case and very sought after for early to mid 60's Corvette's, probably around $1500.00 on today's market for muscle car parts, Thank's for sharing man!! Very informative 👍
I spent $9k on a used(rebuilt) bored out 602 crate. Including accessories and flywheel/clutch for my weekly racing modified(see profile pic). You did alright I'd say.
As I'm looking into buying a late model car for my local NY track, I'd be interested in a video breaking down the difference between the 2 and a run-through of your limited late model. Thank you for info, not many people would share what you do.
Is that the same Rayvon Clark that used used to run dirt late models at 311 Speedway (Madison, NC) and Log Cabin Speedway (Rocky Mount, Va) in the late 80’s and 90’s? Haven’t heard that name in many years! He was from Riedsville.
Since you’re gonna be around the CARS Tour anyway, maybe a quick differences video between the LMSC and the pro late model? Especially since the pro and super are the same chassis just different engines. All your videos are great, so keep it up!
You sound like you have your budget under control. Its easy to spend up big. I have built many race cars using your method. Be good to see a comparison between the cost for both cars. Have a good run this weekend.
I like these videos, I always wonder how much your stuff costs compared to our road race stuff. Is there a Mopar option for you guys? Just curious I'm a bow tie man ;-)
Where did the hair go bubba lol?? Anyways, thank you for an informative video. This helps people understand the costs that go into this sport. Kickass this weekend bub!!
@Landon Huffman I thought you had just brushed it back lol. The hair added to the persona that is The Claremont Kid. Just kidding bub, I really hope you give them boys hell this weekend. You're a helluva wheelman.
what kind of exhaust/muffler setup do you guys run down there? You east coast guys have a very high pitched exhaust sound compared to the west coast of being low & beefy
Well it is way less than the spec engines they use now in the USMTS series which I believe are around $25,000.00 to $30,000.00. Now the Nascar B mods are around $14,000.00 to $15,000.00. Which I believe the lap count is 1200 to 1300 laps for either one. (Of course, racing on dirt the engine builders don't want the laps going much past that lap of 1200 to 1300 laps)
Yeah some these asphalt guys heads would explode if they knew what we’re spending on top level dirt engines. Heck we’re spending more on engines for classes considered beginner classes than they’re spending on engines for there top level classes apparently ( for those that don’t know for a competitive dirt latemodel engine you’re spending as much to refresh it every 1250-1500 laps as he has in his entire engine)
Yup. I do my own engine work on my b mod and it's a little disheartening knowing you're going up against guys who are spending 15k plus on a motor. Even a new 602 crate is going for North of 6k these days. If more people worked on their own stuff instead of just spending more money the sport would be better for it
Hey Landon quick question about the triple disc clutch setup.. I recently installed a triple disc on our prolate model and followed the instructions to the letter but when we fired it up we keep getting a knocking sound inside the Belllhousing..any ideas? Love the content
This is cool! You get motors two mile from our house! The wife and me still plan on buying you a beer after a race. Assuming you are heading back to the bar in Claremont. All the videos like this are great. I'm sure not many fans understand cost, time and effort you guys invest on your cars. Thanks as always Landon!
If you do a video on the crate motor cost, include what it costs to buy from GM plus what it costs to have it Blue printed by an Authorized Engine Builder
You forgot a few things including headers, y-pipe, muffler and motor mounts (offset, straight up, etc). Headers are a big deal, depending on ride height rule (does exhaust count to ride height), above bellhousing crossover (looks like yours are not) or straight back, with lower crossover, etc. Headers sizing is another big rule issue, I.e; 1 ⅝ or step headers 1 ⅝ stepped to 1 ¾ or 1 ¾ complete , or if Tri-Y legal or not.
I actually just bought myself a late model race car and I'm going to make it look like Dale senior's race car And I'm going to race it at Langley Speedway.
What’s your suggestions to someone wanting to help out on a team doing anything that is needed when they move to the Hickory area from Iowa at the end of May? Thank you!
@@broersmaracing8295 uhm the car in the video is 500lbs+ heavier than a ump mod which top cars are hitting 800hp+ now and 700lbs+ on a dirt latemodel which are making 900hp+ now But asphalt are still on suspension technology stuff that hasn’t been competitive on top level of dirt for 15-20yrs (dead serious)
engines seem to be the prohibitive factor in running...if you are handy enough, you can take an older chassis and run with it but the cost of an engine kills it
What sucks is the outlay for the price of the car engine and everything you need to go racing is a lot of money for what you get paid by your track you race at
I race super late models dirt track we also have two crate late models 602 and a 604 for a new 602 we pay $9500 for a race ready 604 $11,500 my super late model though has a 465 roush Yates ry45 that makes around 1000 HP New it would run $52k but I'm sponsored by roush, but a complete race ready super late model that will win easily cost $175k I imagine asphalt cars will be way more
A LMSC/LLM comparison video would be great. I enjoy the shop videos, because they remind me of working on my family’s LMSC.
I’ll try to get one out next week!

Dude it isn’t organized, we just hide it well 😂😂

Definitely appreciate the cost videos. Cool getting some detailed look at the engine too. Good stuff
I would love to know the difference between the late model stock and the limited late model
Great video as always. Definitely look forward to a comparison video.
Good luck this weekend buddy!!….we’ll be watching and pullin for ya on FloRacing…kick some ass 👊🏼🏁
Yes absolutely love to know the difference between the limited and the late models
Yes please do the limited breakdown and differences. Thank You Landon
Thanks for the insight! Yes, please do a video comparing your LMSC vs your LLM.
Awesome video man, very informative! Us gearheads love this kind of shit😂also a video explaining the differences between a LMSC and a limited would be awesome, awesome vid man!🤘🏻
I’ll do that next week🤘🏻
this was a very informative video, really enjoyed it

Love your stuff man
When I hit the lottery I'll get back into it. I raced a Limited Late Model back in the 1980s. A great time in my life.

Informative vid bud, nice.

When will you need to refresh this motor? Yes, please talk more about the limited late model.
Enjoy your videos Landon good luck this weekend you should come up to south Boston and race sometime
Please make a video showing the differences between the cars!
You have to pay to play and you have done a great job keeping operating cost reasonable. Solid information !

Best of luck this weekend!
Harrington’s built the big block Chevy in my street/strip bracket car. Their attention to detail and workmanship is excellent.

Another question tho. What fuels do you run in the race cars?
Sunoco! I’m not sure what the octane is
@@LandonHuffmanRacing is that like a leaded race gas?

i hear you hitting rev limiter, how hard is that on valve springs and how often do you change them? love your channel
Not to terribly hard! Usually once or twice a season
Please make a video about the different cars. I think it would be cool to see the differences between lmsc and a limited.
I’ll do it!
You forgot the case of brake clean and blue paper towels...
The little stuff adds up to be the most expensive part.

I paid $5600 for my crate completely fresh. No flywheel and back half, with pulleys, water pump and fuel pump

Yes I want video between limited and late
Kinda surprise when you said 500HP kinda thought you all would of had more than that for some reason. Good luck this weekend!
Its asphalt cars are super light gotta get it to ground without spinning the tires unlike dirt
