    As I read a lot of these comments I have to laugh. Some people try and find something wrong with everything now a days. I think it was cool that he wheeled that midget around for a few laps. Yes the track was a little dry but so what, he still wheeled it and he had fun doing it and a lot of people enjoyed watching it. Good job Jeff. At I wasn’t a Jeff Gordon fan but I am now.

    A long time ago, in a galaxy… I vividly recall seeing Jeff Gordon as a (I think) 17 year old on Thursday Night Thunder. I called my older brother and told him “remember this name: Jeff Gordon. He’s fast, he’s smart and he’s going to be famous”. It was the “smart” part that convinced me. Those races were all basically sprints. Gordon was consistently up front and had a brilliant sense of when to pull the trigger for the win. Listen to his throttle work smooth out in this video after a few laps. He was and is a great talent.

    I saw Jeff win the Bellville Midget Nationals in Rollie's car on Jeff's 18th birthday. Jeff lapped everyone but 4th or 5th place that night. I also stayed in the same hotel as Jeff that night. The party was pretty cool too.

    Look @ Jeff, Dudes a legend. Jeff Gordon is the man. He’s been my racing hero my whole life. He still leaves a significant impact considering he hasn’t been on the track for a few years now… He has set some records that will never be broken & will be hard to match. Very rarely would you see him be intimidated by any driver. Jeff is the true definition of a wheel man. Iv witnessed him win a lot of races as a kid & as an adult. Jeff is by far one of the greatest racing drivers.

    That’s awesome my late uncle followed Jeff throughout his career, after his unfortunate passing in 1999 I saved all of the memorabilia he had collected and his love for racing started my racing career that also unfortunately ended however I may no longer be a driver but I will be a lifelong fan of not only Jeff Gordon but Hendrick motorsports. Kyle Larson and Chase Elliot being the next generation of Hendrick has been so revitalizing.

      @@73krimzen there are certain things im seeing with Larsons dominant season its kinda reminding me of Gordans 97 season where Gordan went on his dominating year for the championship, just dominating most races and if he doesnt win he is just that consistent that really is the only resemblance im seeing out of Larson right now , Gordan and Larson are my favorite drivers of all time but in the dirt world Larson blows Gordon out of the park, in the cups series larson still has quite a bit to prove that he can be just as good if not better than gordan..

    • @johnbrooks2646
      @johnbrooks2646 3 года назад +2

      @@73krimzen Larson still has alot to prove and plenty of time to be compared to Gordon in Nascar. Further once Jeff left the dirt for Nascar that's what he focused on. I'm sure had he wanted too, he would have continued to be dominant in lower series or dirt had he tried. When F1 comes calling as they did with Jeff, then we can start talking about how great Larson is...and that's coming from me, a fan of Larson. Besides, it's been Jeff that's touted Larson's ability for years and pushed for HMS to sign him years ago.

    I saw Jeff many a year ago when he was 14. He raced at Lawrenceburg because at 14, he was not allowed to race in California. He raced a sprint car and if I remember right he won the feature (if he didn't win I've had another brain fart cause I'm old). What's ironic is the track announcer didn't think he should be allowed to race. But he did and the rest is history. I later met Jeff at a race in Florida driving the Baby Ruth car. He was very friendly, remembers the race at the Burg and gave my Wife an autographed Couse (my spelling). A true gentleman.

Brake response-- pedal location? and a list of other questions as he was teaching Jeffrey how to sort out a race car and report back to the chassis guys and owner. He listened and learned well!

      Lawrenceburg is a magic carpet compared to Brownstown. Tri-state has gotten too anal about their track. They must have 3 million dollars of track prep equipment and they grind out any character.They come out again before the features and prep it again, so there's generally very little berm. Bloomington starts out nice, but at the end of the show it has a berm a 2 feet high and that can be an issue if you hit it wrong.

    So I stepped out of midgets to go do winged sprint and then legend. Then returned to midgets 8yrs later and it took me about 1-2 hrs to get back to where I had been. People don’t understand how a drivers muscle memory works. When you change cars you forget everything you knew and adapt to the new car. You still have an idea of where you need to be but your constantly making corrections by muscle memory that’s for another car. So you won’t jump back in after so many years and just take off like before. You can’t stop driving a particular car at all if you want to be proficient. It’s a perishable skill. Also dirt to me is far difficult that asphalt. Dirt you turn the car with the gas and brake as much as the steering wheel. If you notice the best stock car drivers have a dirt background because the asphalt gets wore down and if you have dirt track skills you will have an Advantage especially running the car loose. I can’t stand the armchair drivers that have never turned a lap and don’t understand what actually goes into driving each car type.

    If the track was prepped it would have looked way faster especially no ruts

    Good job Jeff. They put a lot of effort into putting this together but failed to do anything with track prep... that's a shame. Back in the day, Jeff would wheel with no fear and youth behind him.
