a mod that helped me A LOT in building is the Precision Placement mod. It allows you to select an object and then use the key pad to move it where you want it.
Whenever I make large builds like this my settlements bug out and all powered fixtures such as lights, powered doors and so on stop working once I leave. I have to delete and replace them everytime I come back. So I just refuse to do anything this complex anymore. All my settlements turn into military styled FOBs and whatnot. Like a Tactical camp, lmao.
These videos are so inspirational man honestly! You’re the man on building honestly. Remember stuff and old videos from back in the day, but watching yours and I’m like feeling so much more confident building and have so many more ideas. Thank you brother.
For you next build could you try doing it earlier in the day. I had a hard time seeing everything. Thanks man! Great build. Great voicing behind it you were very detailed!
One thing I like to build and have done it at a couple of the settlements one at Nordhagen and Egret, the indoor fishing marina. You don't see them much anymore but growing up they were more common on the lakes. I actually made blueprints out of those builds along with videos and also for download on nexus.
A couple of mods that may interest you, Driveables of the Commonwealth - Boats. You get to build boats, a bit glitchy, but fun. Port Royal. Many new building pieces on a nautical theme.
Subscribed! My friends and I make fallout videos on this channel and we all watch you on our personal channels - I hope you keep getting more and more popular Grey!
I love this idea for a boat dock! I never thought about mixing up different building items! When I build, I use all wood, concrete, or metal! I never mix them up together! The VT railings actually look really good in this! Great vid, keep up the great work!
Your build videos would be easier to watch if you were in daylight. Since you're on PC just hit the tilde key ~ beside the 1 key, then type the command: set gamehour to X where x is equal to 1 to 24 (24 hour clock). You can instantly reset your day back to 12 noon for bright light. Also, use: set timescale to 1 and the game time went pass by so quickly that it turns dark again before you're done. The default timescale is either 16 or 20, depending on which console command article you read. I prefer timescale 10 for normal game play.
I built something similar after seeing a Nordhagen dock build. Also, one of the things I've learned with those walls you were having trouble with is I place one of the tin half-sized pieces of wall first, and get it facing the right way through deleting floors and such (also helps in hiding stairwells). Place flooring, and then a full sized (or even half sized) tin wall. If it faces the wrong way, add/remove some of the surrounding flooring to get it to the right direction. Make sure to place another wall right next to it, facing the same way. So, you're using 2 square spaces. When that's done, delete one wall and replace with the glass. It should connect easier so you aren't having to fiddle around with the glass (can't see which way it is supposed to face for me). Just something that makes it easier for me.
I have a couple of criticisms. 1. Concrete walls look to massive for the build. I would use the barn walls. I think their appearance would be better. Plus they are taller. 2. I would place the stairs next to the wall instead of the edge. I would also use the half floor personally to decrease item count. Your stair outer rail still appears floating to me, yes I'm very retentive and that would drive me nuts every time I saw it. 3. Stairs on one side makes it look non symmetrical. Yes I'm nit pickings again but I would mirror the stars on the other side. I did a sea food restaurant over the water in sanctuary using the half glass and barn walls. I believe these sets made it look realistic, lol as much as a game can. I took inspiration from Bethesda designs to use wood and glass.
I alway make tavington my first water buisness/fort location. It is basically my main base. It's centrally located, has lots of water, and is walking distance to covenant. Great place.
You can hold X/A to group select the whole structure and move it an inch across to try solve the railing issue 🤓 awesome, insightful video with a nice outcome 🤘
I tried grouping but it didn't want to replace anywhere once it was selected, there were a couple idiosyncrasies with the group select I didn't know about when I recorded this that would have probably helped solve that issue.
@@Theegreygaming yeah I see you were already pushing the boundaries to the limit there, amazing you managed to fit as much as you did 🙌 the trick with the wood floors and concrete walls actually helps resolve an issue I've encountered just never tried to work out, excellent job man 😎
@@Jokertron3000 There's a non-mod way (works on consoles) way to decrease your build limit. If you have a weapons dealer (or one in Diamond City), buy all the guns that have mods (even buy the ones that don't). Just like picking up the traffic cones/loose tires lying around the Red Rocket outside of Sanctuary, you can "add" things to your settlement. When dropping them inside the settlement area and entering into workshop mode, you can "scrap" those items. By buying all the guns and bringing them back to your settlement, then immediately dropping them from your inventory (it creates a circle around you), you can then enter workshop mode. Scrap ALL the guns/weapons you dropped. If you have 6 pipe pistols, it will just show one gun but allow you to gain the 6 steel from the pipe pistol still. By scrapping all the weapons, you lower your build limit. It does not crash the game either.
Hey man great channel and great builds! I wanted to ask you if you could do some videos regarding raider settlements from nuka world DLC. I like to play as en evil character so that would be cool to see
Thank you for ALL of your videos, tips, tricks, walkthroughs and for taking your time to answer/reply to Fallout dwellers questions! Mad props to all of y'all that give the ordinary as well as advanced gamers the opportunity and ambition to make our RPG experience more challenging and fulfilling 👏👏👏. Is there a mod to make it daytime constantly while doing settlement builds and upgrades so it's easier to see exactly that you're doing when you are making the videos?
I'm sure there's a mod but I tend to play mod free. I have started using console commands to set the time of day and usually my builds take less than 1 in-game day so my more recent ones are better.
I've played FO4 years ago but with only having a few hours a week to play I never got into the settlements side of the game but now that I injured my back 4 years ago then did a triple bypass 3 years ago today even though i went back to work 3 and 4 months early than recommended from both last year i decided it was time to chill and take early retirement so now I can enjoy playing as much as I want 😂😂😂. Watching y'all's builds and getting ideas helps pass the time and gives a sense of accomplishment when you turn a scrap pile into something you can smile about 🤷🏼♂️😂
If you snap a curved concrete wall in, then the rounded metal floor to the top of it. You can then snap the thinner wood floor to that. Build order is important.
Today I learned just dumping weapons on the ground & putting them in the workbench will grant more settlement size for building. I've been dropping them on the ground & scrapping them. Great for components. Not so great for caps.
I've added a dock or two to my builds as well, they do fit well into the canon of the game. Did you try the hand railing from the scaffolding section, it might fit were the Vault Tech section wouldn't.
I use the scaffolding railing if I'm looking for a more scrapper aesthetic since both pieces of scaffold railing are bent. I like the concrete railing but it really clashes with the vault-tec and looks really out of place.
See that's one thing I do like about fallout 4 is the laws of physics don't apply to your build so I wouldn't bother the post I would just can't deliver it at the red rocket gas station right next to your old neighborhood that you start out in I have a eight-story skyscraper on top of the gas stations in closing the rocket even have a house on top of the roof of the gas station and it's only supported by three stairwells
I had and have that problem where something would fit if only I had a few inches more. So Start over and give yourself those inches. Problem solved,,,,,, yeah and now I wished I had a few inches more on the other side. Deng. Bethesda lol. But, you can pick up complete buildings if you didnt give them to much points sticking in the ground, and move them just a little bit, built the thing that didnn't fit and move it back. In your case, the game wouldn't have alowed you to build that type of railing next to the house anyway. lol I loved your build.Never have build boat houses other than Barn or warehouse style builds.
I thought about adding a music track but also figured if someone wanted to follow along and build while watching, they might not like the music if they've got the game running on the other screen.

This guy's voice is perfect for 1.5x speed. Couldn't have a better person for tutorials. Loving this. 👍
actually during these first few entries I used to proof these at 1.25 or 1.5 before uploading lol.

best to take a nap and wait for daylight for tutorials. I could barely see.
The construction nerd inside of me got really exited watching this, i really like this serie !
Awesome work :)
I enjoy seeing all the different ways people have discovered to fix the somewhat broken settlement build system without mods.

Only thing I could say "bad" is doing this at night, yuk lol. Other than that great vid Mate.

Bless yt recommend system . I found a gold mine!
Really nice structure!
But WHY all construnction recorded by night O_o, and just last 10 second by day??
Really nice build :)
Good idea by removing then placing back in .

could you review spectacle island
Did you do spectacle island yet?
I haven't yet, spectacle island is one that I need to spend some time planning out because what I have there now is pretty, meh.
I like the build but i think you could benefit by adding some music in the background 😁

Dude you use mods or any DLCs for your builds?
just DLCs, no mods.
Well done on lesson.
Muy bueno, gracias.
I need to go and get the DLCs for fallout 4 I'm just playing the game with some mods that they were able to get from Bethesda
Love this
Someone seems to be scamming your channel and claiming to be giving out prizes. You might what to contact RUclips about it.
I've already located and reported several of them, I posted a PSA in my community section as well. thanks for the heads up.
Why would you record an entire build video in the dark?
