I've spent hours on my settlements too, but this is without a doubt the best I've seen! The attention to detail on the main structure, and things like "it took me ages to get test tubes into the racks" it's just f**king awesome!!
You did an amazing job. I am floored by your design. I have a hard time just building a shack whose roof doesn't have huge gaps. Well done, and thanks for showing me it CAN be done well.
This is amazing! Also watching this was weirdly satisfying and relaxing for me... I think it has something to do with those foundation shacks behaving and snapping perfectly into place...
This is arguably the most aesthetically pleasing base that I've seen built from scratch. I keep trying to fix up pre-war buildings, but this has inspired me to create an awesome base that stands alone from a pre existing structure. Nice work.
I've never had a problem getting settlers to the island. Not sure if they swim, boat or parachute in but they come. That said you have given me ideas for building here, thanks.
i've watched a LOT of settlement videos and this is ABSOLUTELY the best, also great camera work! i did not get dizzy at all watching the video. thanks so much for sharing this.
I must say of all the build videos I’ve watched, this one has to be my favorite because the time you took to explain every detail and showed me some nifty tricks I didn’t know you could do. Thank you for the inspiration for my new builds.
+Jug really nice citadel mate :) have a little question, have u any idea where to get the mod allow u to build the lamps, small palm and others? have Homemaker, sseX, alternate set. oc decorator and im still missing those items :( thnx
This is by far the best fallout 4 video i've seen so far. Settlement videos are crowded with people that have no idea how to play fallout. That stairwell trick is HUGE. Just got a new subscriber
+Mikael Nilsson Don't. They will just fuck up all the carefully placed items that make this settlement look so awesome. If Piper can't even go 2 minutes in Sanctuary without fucking up all the stuff I placed around our house then i don't want to think of the damage a few settlers can do to that gorgeous bar.
I just wanna thank you. I have been trying to get those shack foundations to stack properly for a while and no matter what I have done as far as manually setting it, I couldn't get it to stack evenly. Thanks for the tip about using the shack stairwell to do that.
Dude, this was worth watching just for the Shack Stairwell tip - but whaddaya mean "you can't get settlers to this place?" I have a settlement of about 20 on Spectacle Island - all I did was set up a beacon.
+Scott Baker Yeah I added the annotation to the video, unfortunately most people don't see them, I think they are linked to pop ups so it likely gets blocked on some devices.
After seeing what some people have done in Minecraft, I shouldn't be surprised that you went to all that effort to make the place look "lived in" ... but the attention to detail with papers on desks and test tubes in racks is simply amazing. That Bar area is a work of art, and the upper "rec deck" is fantastic! The only thing that would have made the place seem more life-like to me would be a pair of Missile Turrets on each corner, way up high, bathing the entire island in a hail of defensive cross-fire.
+Daniel Budney Agreed, but now he knows he can actually bring in settlers. So I would want him to do an update vid showing tasteful defenses up and the place being utilized.. Even with four missile turrets up it would be sufficient.
Hi. Any chance you could revisit this one more time, and give us a walk through on how to build the inside? Like each floor basement etc. like put hallway here blah. Having a lot of trouble setting up the inside. Please. If not I understand.
Thanks bro. I like how things look against smaller scenes just because I like small space in real life but this is awesome. You used some parts I haven't seen uses so I haven't used the. The connectors and the light boxes was a feature I needed to see. Thanks, I'll stay tuned.
Absolutely outstanding! It was easy to follow your instructions and re-create the basic layout of this awesome structure. Thanks for taking the time to put this guide out there!
any faster way to get wood than buying from vendors? need 24 hours to refresh and i have finished the main story. and this video solved me a long time problem to set the foundation to a next level.
+lishiping84 If you like to keep your trees around then no, vendor is probably the fastest method. I would usually just go back and forth to Abernathy and Diamond City sleep for 48 hours and repeat. But I salvage most if not all trees from my settlements.
Jug All trees are gone already in my settlement. and also Green in Grey garden sell 50 wood as well. And every time I go Abernathy for purchasing wood, the owner will ask me to rescue his wife/ daughter/ friend. Really....annoy!
+lishiping84 if you just want to build type "tgm" into console command. It will give you unlimited resources while you have it toggled... Honestly, when doing massive building, it would be too painful to legit buy it all.... Took me a good solid week to achieve a 200 adhesives + several thousand wood of normal play all to see it disappear in a couple hours of settlement building.
+lishiping84 A more legit way to get supplies is to make a scavenging post and assign a settler to it. The more posts you have in a settlement (with a settler assigned to each one) the more random items of junk get added to the workshop everyday. If you have a network of settlements all linked via trade routes with a couple of scavenging posts in each then you soon rack up plenty of materials.
Absolutely awesome build! Love the attention to detail and atmosphere - hope you'll be able to populate it with more power armour stations in the future - thanks so much for the ideas and tips!
+Gabriel Medina Well I reached the build limit on that settlement. I could likely use this glitch people are talking about but I'm concerned It could effect performance. I'll have something new this week though.
+Jug Drop your weapons out of your pip boy. Close your pip boy. Open your workshop menu and pick the weapons up using "store". Every weapon you store will take off of your over all fill bar. Go and get your weapons out of your workshop. Rinse and repeat. Endless size to your settlement.
+PillznarRy OR... use a mod on PC :D hehe sorry I couldn't resist. I just built a new PC and bought a 4k monitor... this game is phenominal in 4k. I just wish consoles could do 4k at 60fps... perhaps PS5 :)
Yes, I'm properly impressed. A fantastic job there and a lot of tips and tricks I picked up. Now, I'm on PC and for some reason, I can't move while in build mode, so I have to enter build mode, move to where I want to build, exit build mode, move to the next area, enter build mode AGAIN and so on. So I doubt I can repeat the work done here, but it's damn nice to see anyway.
I had no idea that someone could build something this LARGE and this DETAILED without using mods. Your building (without mods) is one of the best I've seen, even compared to those who use mods. I built something as wide as your's is tall, and its pretty awesome too, but nowhere as good as yours. I'm on PS4 too and want to try something similar, but how long did this take you, how much did it cost, around how much supplies did you use, and how close were you to the size limit?
+Sir Traffic Light The size limit can be increased on the ps4 with the weapons exploit (where you drop all your weapons and then store them in the workshop while in builder mode).
WillieLongEel But earlier in the video he stated that he didn't use any mods or glitches. Plus, if you glitch the size bar, then wouldn't your frame rate drop randomly. I don't want that happening in my game. I don't think he glitched, but, eiter way, thanks for your recommendation
Sir Traffic Light The frame rate drops and object rendering from a distance gets weird only if you excessively go beyond the size limit. If you have a few more objects to add to finish off the base an you decide to use the exploit, it won't make a difference. And besides the island settlement has a really big size bar to begin with. ;)
yeah, but my Kingdom on Spectacle Island used up 3/4 of the bar in just construction and some lighting. I only have a 1/4 of the bar left in interior design. Doesn't matter though, I used up a month's worth of gathered materials to build it as far as I have so far: 9000 wood, 7000 steel, 600 copper, etc. I won't be able to design it for another two weeks until I've scavenged for more materials. What I really need is a supplies glitch, because buying materials from vendors is too damn expensive.
I really admire the modern aesthetic going on here, the monumental scale of it and the awesome light box wall is stunning! I couldn’t be bothered to make this myself though if I can’t get settlers to use it, for me it would defeat the object. Really great build though, I like your calm gravelly soft voice it’s relaxing to listen to.
Jug, congratulations for the piece of art you built!! It's really fantastic, and also showed us how to solve lots of construction problems. Thanks for sharing this!!
"Hey what's this big wire just sticking throu... AIYAHYAYIHAYIAHAIYAIHAYI..." #smoked Skyrim did a *lot* more in terms of weapon racks and cases and manniquins. Here's hoping they add some more base functionality when they release the Creation Kit for real.
+Brackynews I would love that. Bethesda needs to give us some mannequins and gun/weapon racks. I have a habit of collecting EVERY unique weapon and bit of armor or clothing I find and just store them in a chest or a bureau somewhere, never to be seen again.
Aaron Turner - I'm just level 23 and it doesn't look like I'd ever be able to afford some of the unique weapons without cheesing/cheating. Petty caps balance between 2k-3k is basically my goal.
+Brackynews I'm currently level 61 and have about 11k caps to spend, plus quite a few of the unique weapons, such as Overseer's Guardian, Big Boy, etc., as well as some that I just couldn't pass up, like an almost fully modded Laser Gatling I picked up when I first boarded the Prydwen. It's fairly easy to get caps once you have rank 2 of both Caps Collector & Local Leader; they allow you to build shops in your settlement which, when a settler is assigned to them, generate a bit of income based on your population. The new vendors will also buy things from you, which also gives you a small return through the income generated from the transaction. The caps get deposited into your workbench (under Misc), so you check it every so often for what amounts to free caps. I checked mine for the first time in a couple weeks (both in game and in real time, owing to a break taken for some much needed sleep) and had about 600 caps just sitting there. Also, a good idea early on if you've got Gun Nut is to grab up pretty much all the weapons that enemies drop, mod them a bit (it increases their value), and then sell them; that'll get you a fair bit of caps pretty quickly. Oh, and don't worry about losing the mods on the weapons: simply put the mods (under Mods, obviously) into your main workbench. This stores them for future use without removing it from whatever weapon you modded, something I found out by accident early on after discovering that mods also have weight.
ChishioAme - Solid tips! I found the caps in my workbench just as as fluke and assumed it was the shop income. Good that I don't have to yank it out of settler's pockets. I wish the UI was better at telling you when you're attaching or placing an object you already own, instead of building a new one. Ugh, modding and reselling is the state I'm at in my replay of Final Fantasy X...
Brackynews The UI _could_ be a bit better on telling you when you're attaching or building, but I've found that paying attention to the button prompts at the bottom of the screen tells you which you're about to do. If you're building a new mod, it'll say "X) Build Mod", but if you've already built that mod, it'll change to "X) Attach Mod". What would be _really_ nice, though, is if you actually had a popup in Workshop mode that tells you what settlers are attached to what; you've no idea the amount of times I've built a shop or something and assigned a settler to it only to find my food production starts dropping.
My goodness... that use of the stairwell is genius, I've always preferred using the shack foundation for walls, floors, and roofs, but I always had to line them up, thank you so much for this!
did you have a bunch of the foundations stored on your island? Just curious, I don't see the materials being used at all for the build. All in all well done! looks great.
+Jug Serious kudos on this man. That is insanely good craftsmanship. Especially the beakers in the stand and the magazines in the racks. Have you had any issues with placed items floating or falling through the shelves or table they're placed on?
+Ed Josef Are you talking about the magazine racks? I'm talking about shelves and tables. Pretty much anything I've placed on a shelf or table eventually falls through and winds up either under the loft I've built on top of RR truck stop or on the ground in front of it.
Can you make an actual tutorial for this one like a step-by-step tutorial this is not helping I want to make an awesome base but I can't because you don't show everything
You're the best builder I've ever seen. I started making a large base but got way to frustrated with the building mechanics. But you've shown me some cools tricks. Thanks for the motivation.
If anyone is interested I uploaded a save game to the Nexus at www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9150/ It was for choosing a faction before the point of no return but also includes my build of the awesome structure as well (with a slightly different take on the interior as well). Thanks Jug!
Right from the start I learned some really helpful tips! Thanks man!! I didn't know the stairwell snapping trick to snap a foundation on top of another foundation! I'm gonna use that trick from now on!
+LegionnaireScout What you can also do is drop weapons and armour you're planning to scrap in the settlement, then scrap them in workshop mode (as in look at them and press R equivalent to scrap rather than scrapping them within a workstation). The game interprets that as something being removed from the settlement, effectively reducing the game's count of what's there. Can be repeated infinitely for continued construction.
+LegionnaireScout u better have a good pc if ur gonna use that mod because it will make ur game crash everytime u go into that settlement u build....the better ur pc the bigger u can build but if u have a shitty pc dont use it because it will fuck up ur game
You know when they told the players/fans they want the players to make the game as game breaking as the player wants they seem to be patching a lot of stuff to prevent that
I killed off the brotherhood in my playthrough. And now I’m gonna do this and make it the last of the brotherhoods base. So they can rebuild. Thank you!
it's impressive but no need to kiss his ass mine is just as cool and fully furnished and all my female settlers are running around half naked plus I have a basketball court with a food court for my settlers entertainment lol possibility are endless. Fallout4 game of the year!!!
AWESOME building, im currently working on a lighthouse on that island, thanks to your use of the concrete blocks method. thanks again for all the tips... oh and the abernathy building you did is EPIC.
This... this video is something I've seriously needed. (I love that shack stairwell trick... not sure why I didn't think of it sooner.) Good video and nice build!
An excellent and wonderfully detailed citadel! It's cozy and yet formidable. Great job! You must be an engineer in real life!!! The most impressive of player buildings I've seen on RUclips so far!
Awesome build man! I'm personally going to use this build with a few changes and add a beach town/pier leading to the docks. A guide for how to build the indoor area would be amazing. Keep up the builds they're amazing
As someone who has spent a lot of time trying to get bottles standing nicely on a shelf, the patience of this guy amazes me. Hats off. Oh, and settlers would wreck all his work.
best settlement build I have ever seen! amazing! my favorite part was when you were trying to shoot the ball in the ring and trying to hit a strike in bowling lol. that made my day! subbed!
Have to say man, thanks a lot for the "Stair case to mount foundation on a adjacent block thingy". I don't know how to word it, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to work on my own. You're method is far better than the crazyness I was trying. Much love
Great build! Time consuming I'll bet, but totally worth the end result. Didn't know that trick you used near the beginning with the shack stairs. That will help a good deal with the walls I'm planning to use to protect some of my settlements with, so I've learned something today. Thanks!
Thank you for posting this, and your other build videos. Your wiring information was very helpful! I'm having a wonderful time building a super clean building with no wires showing.
Really nice! You inspired me to do a similar style building and I was able to get mine to 8 floors (including the base floor above the basement) by moving it closer to the sandy beach with a shipwreck in front of it!
This must have been a time consuming build for you, I applaud you, friend! I am going to use these tips to build my own unique base on that location. Thank you very much for this video.
I know your skills since this video have probably tripled but Ive been playing fallout 4 6 months now and your building videos by far have been the best I have watched and used. Im on my 3rd attempt with your build and other then connecting hundreds of those lights its been great. Thanks you for tutorials
thank you for all the time you take to make these! i was in a depressed part of my life and all these vids did a great job in taking my mind off shit. keep up the great builds!!!
you got a new subscriber. dude you're building is so freakin cool. i tried to build in fallout4 and it was a headache. especially decorating the bar.. omg took me forever with puttin one bottle down the way it suppose to. but ive learned alot from you thanks man
I just found the Bob Ross of PS4 settlement building.
+LOUDMOUTHTYRONE That's exactly what I thought just awesome

Who's bob Ross? I have a feeling this would be funny if I knew

Holy crap, I never knew that Stairwell trick.
You've changed my whole world of Settlement Building.
Me too! I'm so happy to have found a new trick!
I know right same here
I've spent hours on my settlements too, but this is without a doubt the best I've seen! The attention to detail on the main structure, and things like "it took me ages to get test tubes into the racks" it's just f**king awesome!!

Impressive building - gave me ideas how to deal with big buildings that I have been struggling with, so thanks a lot.
i've watched a LOT of settlement videos and this is ABSOLUTELY the best, also great camera work! i did not get dizzy at all watching the video. thanks so much for sharing this.

These are actually all in-game items. They come from magazines you can find throughout the game.

aaaaa so that´s the problem :) thank u very much bro , i appreciate it :p

My goodness... that use of the stairwell is genius, I've always preferred using the shack foundation for walls, floors, and roofs, but I always had to line them up, thank you so much for this!
lol You have to be an architect in real life.
+Jeff Denza Haha ikr that was my thought too that this guy must be an architect or something in real life
or a virgin
Dude everyone graduated from LEGO school. :)
+Jeff Denza I was thinking some sort of a structural engineer!
+Brackynews lol yes we did
Fantastic work buddy. Iv never seen such precision and detail in a fallout build before. Must have taken a LOT of patience.
did you have a bunch of the foundations stored on your island? Just curious, I don't see the materials being used at all for the build. All in all well done! looks great.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....didn't know you could run cables through solid surfaces.....so many good things I'm learning here!
See you at Star Wars.
+Jug Serious kudos on this man. That is insanely good craftsmanship. Especially the beakers in the stand and the magazines in the racks. Have you had any issues with placed items floating or falling through the shelves or table they're placed on?
+Dave Jr. Um, you cam build the racks, they act like containers. Put them in and it auto places them. Not hard at all.
+IAmKillerWolf yea i agree
You're the best builder I've ever seen. I started making a large base but got way to frustrated with the building mechanics. But you've shown me some cools tricks. Thanks for the motivation.
We need nuclear power generators. We have the ability to scrap nuclear material. Having to sandwich 20, 30, 40 generators somewhere is silly.
I feel like burning down all my settlements after watching you build yours. lol. EPIC!!!!
If anyone is interested I uploaded a save game to the Nexus at www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9150/ It was for choosing a faction before the point of no return but also includes my build of the awesome structure as well (with a slightly different take on the interior as well). Thanks Jug!
+scionweb Looks great. I haven't picked up the PC version yet but when I do I'll definitely pick this mod up.
How have I watched so many Fallout 4 settlement builds, and yet have only just now found this which is like my ideal building.
There's something really fishy about that building, must be because it was constructed with Semen
Dude! That is an insane amount of work! Great job!
all the people who disliked this video are jealous. you are a god sir
I love the Art Deco style you went for here. The thumbnail really captured my eye as I had not seen anyone try such a technique before in the game.
Look at all that sea-ment
Right from the start I learned some really helpful tips! Thanks man!! I didn't know the stairwell snapping trick to snap a foundation on top of another foundation! I'm gonna use that trick from now on!
Can you build a badass tree house? I'm curious what you would come out with
+Bastian Palafox Thats a good idea i'll add that one to the list.
This is the best settlement I have seen built yet. I can't believe you pulled this off on a console with no cheats. Kudos!
We need a mod removing settlement size, thats just shit
+LegionnaireScout www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/818/?
+thamatz huh, nice, thanx
+AGrumpyPanda u dont scrap them u just store them
Nicely done, sir. Reminds me somewhat of the classic Art Deco government buildings from the 1930s.
Know what's a load of shit? They patched the ability to put wires through floors like you did...fucking petty thing to patch, really..
+Twisted Gaming Thanks, feel free to link your lighthouse here when you finish. I enjoy checking out all the creativity.
That was a really nice build, very well organized and thought out, loved it. Also enjoyed the subtle humor here and there. Subscribed.
This. This was amazing to watch. 180hrs in and you've taught me some good stuff. And you're so calm... so tranquil... Subscribed.
Just spent about 5-6 hours building this lol... I thought my settlements where really good until I seen this, amazing job!
This is absolutely incredible!! Thank you so much for showing this. You are very creative!
+missvidabom Not a problem, thank you very much for the support.
+Jug I just cleared Spectacle Island so I can't wait to build!
dude your building was awesome. I was simply in awe by the sheer construction of it. Please post more videos like this. =)
dude by far the best most cozy build I've seen yet! you've inspired me!
This is without a doubt the most amazing creation, you've put so much effort and detail into this and it really is something special.
This... this video is something I've seriously needed. (I love that shack stairwell trick... not sure why I didn't think of it sooner.)
Good video and nice build!
I've finished my build, I'll put a video up to showcase but I only have an iPhone cam so don't judge the quality
Props! This looks like it took some major patience. Learned alot of building ideas for this video. Thanks!
As someone who has spent a lot of time trying to get bottles standing nicely on a shelf, the patience of this guy amazes me. Hats off. Oh, and settlers would wreck all his work.
best settlement build I have ever seen! amazing! my favorite part was when you were trying to shoot the ball in the ring and trying to hit a strike in bowling lol. that made my day! subbed!
Awesome Structure. Very detail oriented. You sir have more patience than I
I didn't think of the stairs trick. Thank you so much, I'm going to do my best to build cool stuff.
This video is so chill. Love your laidback style and great job on the build
amazing construction on spectacle island. love the craftsmanship and the detail work
Have to say man, thanks a lot for the "Stair case to mount foundation on a adjacent block thingy". I don't know how to word it, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to work on my own. You're method is far better than the crazyness I was trying. Much love
I've been ignoring lighting my settlements for too long now. Thanks for giving some detail on getting that done.
The rest is beautiful.
Wow man. Nice build. I'm all motivated to go make a new settlement now.
Great build! Time consuming I'll bet, but totally worth the end result. Didn't know that trick you used near the beginning with the shack stairs. That will help a good deal with the walls I'm planning to use to protect some of my settlements with, so I've learned something today. Thanks!
Great job man, you can really see all the time and work you put into this, with all the little details.
Thank you for posting this, and your other build videos. Your wiring information was very helpful! I'm having a wonderful time building a super clean building with no wires showing.
+Timothy Steffes Glad to help
+Jug are you still active?
Really nice! You inspired me to do a similar style building and I was able to get mine to 8 floors (including the base floor above the basement) by moving it closer to the sandy beach with a shipwreck in front of it!
I love the feel of the base. Very well designed and looks like a haven in the wasteland.
This must have been a time consuming build for you, I applaud you, friend! I am going to use these tips to build my own unique base on that location. Thank you very much for this video.
+Noam Zevitch No problem, thanks for watching. I should have some new tips you could use uploaded soon. RUclips is still processing the video.
I know your skills since this video have probably tripled but Ive been playing fallout 4 6 months now and your building videos by far have been the best I have watched and used. Im on my 3rd attempt with your build and other then connecting hundreds of those lights its been great. Thanks you for tutorials
Very sweet man! Please come back and give us more! Your ideas are awesome!!!
thank you for all the time you take to make these! i was in a depressed part of my life and all these vids did a great job in taking my mind off shit. keep up the great builds!!!
Wow, that is amazing, you put a lot of thought into the building. its very detailed and beautiful. cant wait to see what you come up with next.
you got a new subscriber. dude you're
building is so freakin cool. i tried to build in fallout4 and it was a headache. especially decorating the bar.. omg took me forever with puttin one bottle down the way it suppose to. but ive learned alot from you thanks man
That is awesome. You are very creative sir and thanks for the building tips I'll be sure too implement them into my future builds.
Without a doubt, this is the best vanilla settlement build I have seen to date.
Very nice effort, excellent presentation. Hats off to you man!
Listening to you and watching your videos is like an episode of This Old House. I like it, gonna build this project soon!
Oooh, that shack stairwell with the concrete foundation snapping to it is a nice little trick
