      @@daxvaxDeadlifts in general produce ALOT of fatigue even in lightweights since you are still gonna have to work really hard to get something out of it.
      Anything that involves axial fatigue has nutty systemic fatigue build up lightweight or heavyweight. But the real value information here is should i deadlift on a cut? NOPE good lord just don't so you last longer on your cutting program. My limit is 2 months when im insane enough to include nutty compounds on my program like the big lifts like squats deadlifts bench press but if you are not cutting then its OK to do Deadlifts atleast for me anyways.

    What are your thoughts on Nippards' study on full range versus stretched partials in experienced lifters showing no difference?

  • @Yupppi
    @Yupppi 3 месяца назад +2

    Well heck. The moment I saw his name is Anton, I started thinking of Anton Pliesnoi, an absolute stud in weightlifting from Georgia/Ukraine. And who would've guessed, this Anton is from Ukraine as well. But what the heck is in the genes of those two nations, Ukrainians and Georgians. World's strongest lifters and grapplers. And Anton seems like a really fun dude to chill with.
    This deficit deadlift looks as nasty as Jefferson curl... I can imagine the low back cramp from just thinking about it. Very timely, did front squats, rdl (not locking out or stopping knees from moving like Nicu Vlad intended it for back accessory for cleans) and bent rows after judo session. But I'm not Anton so I just rotate it with pullups and back hyperextensions throughout the week, pullups being the main movement and bhe more like a conditioning and physiotherapeutic accessory.

    These exercises will build a lot of muscle for sure, but even though you said it would be really fatigue-inducing, it doesn’t really seem like high volume… on actual pulling muscles…
    I mean 4 sets of pronated pull-ups probably aren’t the best for lats, especially when lacking a bit of rom at the top. And yes I know that partials work just as well bla-bla-bla but moderate rom pronated pull-ups will mainly target elbow flexors, teres and lower traps. It would probably have to be neutral-supinated grip with a greater rom to make sure you’re hitting a lot of humeral movement in a sagittal plane (and yeah I know the lats also work fine in a frontal plane but that’s also how you engage a ton of other stuff especially on pull-ups where the resistance doesn’t come from the side).
    Then onto barbell rows with some hinge ? Same thing here, I fail to understand how it would take the lats to failure. And since you’re asking him to maintain a big chest at the bottom aka avoiding rom at the scapula, I’d assume that you’re not trying to hit upper back.
    My point is, yeah these will work really good for a total beginner. They will build lats, traps, arms and erectors to a degree. And these are really good patterns to learn as a beginner. I myself started working out 10 years ago with callisthenics and pull-ups have always been a huge back builder for me… to a point. I still have them, weighted, but I know what they give me and what they don’t. And they definitely aren’t the best lat builder for me.
    So why would you have someone like Anton do that few volume of such non-sufficient exercises for him ? I mean he’s pretty clearly eligible for training in a more focused way lol. Nothing wrong with having pull-ups and rows but man I would have expected to see next at least one exercise that really targets the lats and (almost) only the lats. Same for upper back !
    Please understand that I’m not trying to hate here, if your point was that this training is good for total beginners, yes it is. But in the video it somewhat seems that you’re treating Anton as a beginner when he would in my opinion benefit from more volume and more focused exercises.
    Anyways thanks for the video. I hope Angon will make it as far as possible.

    dr. Mike with somebody who has thoracic kyphosis and my dead lift form always seems a little bit off. I can’t technically keep my back straight. What advice do you have for people with this? My dead lift is my strongest of my big three by far, so I don’t think it’s a generally a weak point that I have this, but I think when it comes to lower back stability, my lower back does tend to get a thrashing specially when doing squats, particularly low bar.

    Hey Dr. Mike, for the Barbell bent over row, how about trying is with a Cambered Bar so you can go deeper and not touch your stomach. I just want to hear your thoughts on it.

    • @amorfati4927
      @amorfati4927 3 месяца назад

      If he doesn’t respond the answer is probably the lengthened position is where most of the growth is which the cambered bar part is the opposite so it doesn’t matter.

    I am in my teen years, should I do most of my work with heavy excercises and compound movements to get as muscular as possible (aestheticly)? (I train for about 2 years now).

    • @annelieniedzwitzki1389
      @annelieniedzwitzki1389 3 месяца назад +1

      since you've been training for two years, I think you should work on isolation exercises with more splits spread throughout the week

    • @annelieniedzwitzki1389
      @annelieniedzwitzki1389 3 месяца назад +1

      but honestly, as someone who's in the same boat as you are (I'm close to 2 years with great results in my physique), I do compounds such as bench press and dips with bench focusing on chest, dips focusing on triceps. Both exercises target the same two muscles, but one hitting more than thr other.

    • @63J63
      @63J63 3 месяца назад

      @@annelieniedzwitzki1389 Thank you for awnsering! I now do a combination so about 1/2 compounds per training and 3/4 isolation excercises. I was just curious if this method was somewhat better for people my age.

    This is just so counterintuitive I’m still having trouble wrapping my mind around it. I watched the Nippard video, not saying it’s wrong or anything, but for an exercise like a pull-up specifically, I just don’t understand how doing significantly less “work” can lead to better hypertrophy.
    I did tack some lengthened partials on to my most recent final set of weighted Pull Ups, and they felt good. But still….I would venture to guess I can do, if not 2X, then at least 1.5X more pull-ups if I cut out the entire top half / end ROM. SO HOW DOES THAT GROW THE SAME AMOUNT OF MUSCLE?! ESPECIALLY ON AN EXERCISE WHERE THE STRENGTH CURVE IS HARDEST AT THE TOP?! Gah! 😆

    • @limitisillusion7

      It's hard to measure how muscle contribution changes throughout a compound movement. Lats have a more advantageous moment arm at the bottom of a pull-up than at the top. Bicep contribution also likely rises towards the middle of the range of motion. All that considered, the lats probably have more tension in the bottom half of a pull-up, so I'd guess that growth is tension dependent and not stretch dependent. It's practically impossible equalize tension on one muscle throughout a range of motion in a compound movement.
