The Elmar 24 3.8 is a gem. I think it's very underrated because of the 3.8 to create bokeh, but with the ISO levels of the new mirrorless cameras you also use it in the evening at TA and you're happy.

The Elmar-M 24mm f/3.8 is, indeed, quite sharp. Because production seems to have ceased, I elected to buy a second, spare Elmar-M 24mm f/3.8 ASPH. It is that good. (The only true form of “insurance,” especially when availability is a problem, is to have a spare.) Notably, wide-angle lenses can be focused very accurately with the rangefinder; it is the framing that can be a challenge. With diligent practice, one can usually learn to frame quite well.
Please do continue to create these wonderful presentations!

I’m surprised you didn’t get a Elmarit 24 just for the differences.

The one on Leica Q is really good 28mm too.

Ah, right! Now that you mentioned it. Its a great deal of a lens actually considering it comes with a camera body lol

Leica sells a universal wide angle finder 16/18/21/24/28 (P/N 12011) that provides frame lines, corrected for parallax, on digital or film M caneras.

I have the Elmarit f2.8 24mm that I had been using on my M8. The issue is that although the frame lines are there, the lens is not as wide on the ASPH sensor. So now that I am trading in the the M8, the question is should I keep the 24mm for my M2? Since I am getting a Q-P I am leaning toward letting go of the 24mm, since 28mm is very close. By the way, the 24mm Elmarit is a great lens.

Hi! I've got the new Voigtlander Ultron 28mm Vintage Line lens. Bought it without any lens reviews available currently for this lens. Turns out it has great sharpness across the frame, nice even bokeh with cats eye shaped circles from middle of the frame and accurate focusing. Compared it with Leica Summilux 24mm, Voigtlander has better sharpness, less chromatic aberrations and more natural bokeh even at f2.0.

I bought a 28 Cron v1 for my 246M a month ago. I moved to a M10M and now bugging about the v2. Will I really notice the difference at 5.6-8?

Low contrast with version 1 is common for vintage lenses without the improved coatings of the more modern ones.

What is your opinion of the Zeiss biagon 21mm f4.5 and Zeiss biagon 25 mm f2.8 as compared to Leica Elmar 21 mm and 24mm?

I had a 25 Zeiss and returned it in a week. I love Zeiss on my Canon but although it was sharp on my M, it was uninspiring/boring. Bought a 24 Elmarit and loved it, except for the hood, so I traded for a Elmar last month. Purchased a 21 SEM as well and it’s AMAZING.
I traded the 28 Cron v2 for the Lux last week. Not too big, not too heavy like the diminutive haters say. However, I’m not sure it’s worth it. Cost me $1700usd with the Cron v2 in trade, so it was a good deal I feel. It’s mostly been on my M10M so I haven’t experienced any of those fringing issues but even on my M10r, I have not seen much. It comes up shooting things I don’t often shoot- like specular highlights. BUT THE RENDERING IS AMAZING!

I think it would be good to list the sources of those pictures you use. I read the reviews and saw those pictures, and I know you know where they are from. You don't steal pictures off the internet, you use them as examples and add your own photos and experiences to it! I appreciate that and subscribed ☺️ I just think it would be even better to have a tiny link in the frame of the source website of those third party photos ;)

Thank you for your comments Marcky. But I’ve explicitly pointed out where the pictures are from in the video, maybe you missed it. I just didn’t put up the link below each picture as I thought it would be distracting. I’ve got no intention to “steal” the images.

@@JimmyCheng I must have not watched attentively enough then... When many are concerned with strict European copyright laws here and make sure it is always clear in text on the video and in the description whenever third party footage was used, I thought I would hand over that opinion to you. But seems I must have overheard your mentioning. To avoid any conflict, maybe a list in the description would be a a middle ground? I see it been done by many RUclipss, especially for "creative common" and copyright free music.

I’m not a big fan of Zeiss lenses due to my previous experience with a few of them. Personally I think the new Voigtlander are better alternatives.
