我最喜歡的一隻鏡頭之一
貌似2024年COSINA最有誠意的產品就只有28mm f1.5 這幾隻小光圈低色散玻璃的嘗試似乎是個死胡同。看看市場反應吧😅
hi Jimmy, how does this lens compares to the similar lens of "Zeiss C Sonnar 50mm f1.5 ZM" ? any experience with sonnar ?
I'm gonna do a video soon as I have just bought and shot with the zeiss zm for a week.
@@JimmyCheng omg... I can't wait ....
Love my Elmarit 28mm f2.8, cost me £1805 new and I don’t regret that one little bit 🫡🙂
Hi Jimmy, Can i ask some questions about Hood that you got from Leica. It can used with filter ?
@@ratchaponpoungkaew2061 yep
@ Ollux hood ? How can i get it sir ? It’s for sell now ?

chinese camera made by DJI. sales are bad, quality too, only 12 months of warranty. suddenly we have dozens of «youtube photographers» getting x2d for free from hassy pushing the narrative that it's Magic Expecience (not photos quality, no, ExPErIeNcE)
I thought these videos are made for making a purchase decision easier for the recipient. But without real life pictures and a HR download link these kind of videos tell not a lot. I would love to see myself in LR pictures to make a calm and wise decision where I put my money…
@@beyourself9162 sorry about making it more confusing to you by not showing real life photos and not uploading raw files. These are some of my earlier attempts and I was just getting my hands on these stuffs. Hope you would understand.
@ no problem was no offense from my side, there are so many confusing videos out, that I miss something calm clear and with good advice…
Thanks Jimmy - I have the Voigtlander 35mm F2 Ultron. Do you think the Nokton has any benefits over the Ultron other than the extra stop?
the corner sharpness of the voightlander is impressive
Hi Jimmy, I'm looking for a 35mm that will compliment my M11 Monochrom and you've made it harder to decide on the Summicron or the FLE V2. lol As a street photographer which do you think would best compliment the M11M?
@@DamienOnTheGo Summicron if you don’t need 1.4 90% of the time.
The ISO dial is chunky on the M6 for some reason, MA has the best ISO dial for sure, the matte black MA has a similar finish it’s beautiful
我很喜歡你的影片,講解的很清楚,讓我對鏡頭的選擇有更進一步的瞭解。
This is hilarious. A whole video about how a camera looks! Brassing. Patina. WTF is wrong with you people? Go and make some photographs instead of worrying about how others perceive your equipment....."Ooh, look, he's got a Leica, and look at all that patina and brassing. He must be a brilliant photographer". Pathetic.
Got a well brassed and scratched M10R Black Paint. It also has bumps as I sling it over my shoulder together with an SL2-S. It’s just great 👍
@@lvervoortify wow would love to see it
The JPEGs straight out of the camera look amazing even without editing. Nice work
Done. Ordered. Thank you, Jimmy. I was on the fence between the Elmarit and the Color Skopar. You've helped me to make the choice.
glad to hear that! that's why I make these videos!

The very best is not here?
Obviously it is better than Canon or Nikon, however I prefer Fujifilm color palette.
Age and kgs 😅😅😅
Same problem with my Leica R4
If adapted to Panasonic S9, how much will angular sharpness suffer?
I ordered one today for my S9 and will pair it with the LLL Adapter M-L for optimal compatibility. If there’s interest, I might make a review.
@@Rapunzelchen Yes, please. It was interesting..
@@Sergey_Pashnin I got mine today and a first test is good. The images are sharp and contrasty on my S9 and with the LLL adapter I can focus to infinity :-)
@@Rapunzelchen Can you put raw files somewhere or just full-size ones?
I am surprise that you missed the 24mm 2.8 Elmarit. In my estimation it betters the 28 Elmarit.
Voigtlander no contest.
TT Artisan is bad at f5.6, it's only good at f11 ...
M11 and X2D comparison please!
HI Jimmy, Thanks for the comparison video! I have the opportunity of picking a summarit 2.5 or a summicron v4. Which one would be your preference? Thanks!
@@Robopanda-i5c depending on the price. The v4 in good condition should cost at least twice as much.
@@JimmyCheng Sorry I should have clarified for 50mm. The price difference is about 20%.
@@Robopanda-i5c ah gotcha. Honestly I would go for the v4, it’s probably my fav Summicron 50. Small, lightweight, with tab, classic Mandler rendering. What more could you ask for? So yes the v4 for sure (if it’s mechanical and optically sound)
@@JimmyCheng Thanks for your insight Jimmy, I ended up pulling the trigger on the cron and love it so far.
@ congratz
Just came across this one, Jimmy. I watched and kept a running tally-a funny thing happened. I chose 8 shots for left and 9 for right, but one of those was a real toss up for me (I liked both almost equally). So I guess the moral for me: the sensor doesn’t matter, only the execution of the vision. Thanks for killing CCD interest for me; I’m certain overall a M10 or M11 will be the best camera, as it will allow easier execution of my vision. :)
Hey Jimmy, is it jpegs or do you use raw than an edit on Lightroom ? Thanks for your answer, it will help a lot. Geoffrey
@@unmecvrai hi, I never shoot jpeg :)
I just came from the Leica M9 to the M 11 D.which lenses do you prefer in the M 11 sensor? Would love to hear your tips. Thank you so much.
nothing changes for me as far as lens preference goes. personally I use all sorts of 35/50 lenses.
@@JimmyCheng I’m torn between getting the lux steel rim reissue or the lux 35 asph; the lux 35 asph looked great on film and on the M9, but wonder if it might be too sharp for this new sensor, thus the question :)
@@kurocamera I personally much prefer the lux asph. The steel rim wide open is too bloomy
Thank you for the video, Jimmy. What's your opinion on Leica Summarit or Voigtlander 35mm for film photography?
@@britt5126 unfortunately I haven’t really compared them side by side on film so it’s difficult to tell. Voigtlander offers 3-4 completely different versions of 35mm lenses not sure which one you’re referring to.
@@JimmyCheng I'm looking at the Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 II MC for an M6. I think the Summarit, Summilux, or Summicron is possibly overkill for film.
@@britt5126 they’re not overkill actually. You will still be able to tell the difference if you shoot relatively fine grain films. But Voigtlander also have high quality glasses that competes well with Summicron, like the ultron f2.
Bought a brand new sealed Steelrim reissue with a recent production date after watching your videos. The aperature ring turned out extremely wobbly and the red dot that indicates the aperature doesn't even click into the right spots where the numberes are marked. But, the image rendering, glow & flare makes it extremely enjoyable to use. Highly recommended if you're willing to roll the dice on QC
Which one would you prefer if u have to choose between this and zeiss 50 planar f2?
all Sony sensors at the end of the day , so all cameras are like different cups but poring same tea ; does it taste any better ?!
@@davidvasiljevic4788 haha, yes and no. There’s so much more to a sensor other than just the silicon. For example gfx and Hasselblad are completely different color wise.
M11 is a "meh" camera, not only because they made away with the nice and special esthetics as the bottom plate , shutter (and sound) and so one.. BUT: -It's slow. Like SUPER slow - It freeze's and looks up ALOT. - Low depth of field because 60 Megapixel (ur a street shooter and accustomed to shoot at F5,6-F7?, now u need F8-F11 to get same resultat going into the files AND congrats, you are now are hitting diffraction and images apers softer then u would like .. ALSO see next part..) -BAAAD Iso performance because of 60 Megapixel (if u comment, "yeah but its better if down scale it too 40 or 24 megapixel", even if that was ture, (which it ain't , if dont own the camera ur self, here u can see it testet with against a m10m and a m10r ruclips.net/video/3-z5LuOOnBU/видео.html) then what was the point of 60 Megapixel again. ) -60 Megapixel is SUUPER demanding on the objectives you use and u need to have be much more precise to get critical focus. I miss the Leica that keept going its own route. Like with Monochrome and "D series without a screen". Like give us a fun Camera like a 24-36 megapixel CCD that goes to iso 3200 with a super usable iso 1600 That would be magical ! No screen, and return to the M10P/M10M/M10R shutter and shutter sound! Let the photographer set the exposure them self. U dont need auto light meter in the camera. Learn to gauge light based on the scene, and u don't blow out images never again.. (Which even modern auto meters does!)
@@kalkun22 unfortunately, it’s only the wish of us. A few die hard Leica old schoolers. I would love to see a ccd sensor again with modern chips. Same goes to their lens designs. It’s getting bigger and more perfect. Leica is becoming more and more mainstream to attract more new buyers. This is an unfortunate inevitability.
Hey Jimmy, you do a great job getting to a similar place color wise using Lightroom compared to the HNCS. I would love to see more of your editing process. Do you find the camera matching profiles in Lightroom provide a close start?
@@tylerkeyboard thank you. I was actually not aiming to mimick HNCS but to my own likings when I did the edit. I think it’s better to use tiff files if you want a starting point that incorporates HNCS. The LR raw profile is quite a bit different than the Hasselblad’s own interpretation.
Would u replace the red dot with a black screw dot to give it that stealth look like the M11p?
@@dacookieman_ I don’t think I will. All my other black m bodies are with screws (except for the reissued M6). I actually grew to quite like the red dot :)
@@JimmyCheng yeah I feel the same as well. It grows on you after awhile.
Have M11 but I don't see real magenta tint in my files. I bought used one and using it during 3 months already. Mint condition. And this is my first Leica camera ever. I choosed between M10R and M11 and so happy with the last one. BSI sensor, 18,36,60mp image sizes, USB-C charging, huge battery, 64gb internal memmory. Freezing was really bothers, but it's completely fixed with new firmware.
@@RecluseNotes congrats! It’s a great tool.
Now Leica is only one truly legendary brand. Because Hasselblad - it's a DJI. When I'm thinking about it stops me to buy X2D or 907x. Very happy with my M11
Because they got bought by DJI? If anything, DJI is what bought these mirrorless cameras everyone is drooling over. They are still produced in sweden and all. Just consider it a management change.
DJI is just ownership. Who owns leica? It’s the same game, the owners have simply financial interests - that’s all. I have been a Leica shooter for 15 years, but since the last owner sold Leica to blackrock, the magic is gone. Leica has become another mainstream camera producer aiming for quantity and just spits out more and more cameras every year - diluting the quality. So imho Hasselblad seems closer to its roots right now than Leica focusing on a niche…
@@aerioplux That’s not right. BlackStone owns 44% of Leica Camera AG. Mr. Kaufmann from Austria owns the majority (56%) and is the head of board of directors.
@@Ich-k7y that not entirely true. The 55% are being owned by ACM Projektentwicklung, who the owner of that entity is is up for speculation. Might be Mr Kaufmann… but officially it belongs to a privately held foundation.
@@aerioplux if you look into the legal notice you are able to find Dr. A. Kaufmann as a GM. Moreover it is a family owned company😉
Thanks for the great review. I want to ask, what lens and camera did you use for this video?
@@andre_1907 a7s3 and Tamron 28-75. Great image quality for the price.
@@JimmyCheng yeah, I agree with you. Thanks.
Excellent analysis! It fits my experience.
When I had the opportunity to shoot them side by side, the pre-FLE was able to produce much more pleasing out-of-areas. The FLE had very sharp outlines around out of focus highlights in my testing, which often resulted in very nervous and too contrasty backgrounds for my taste. Especially in more architectural settings sometimes high contrast areas in the background looked like they were "in focus". In terms of sharpness the FLE is way ahead of course.
yeah I was really surprised that both of my copies showed little to no difference in background smoothness. But again my asph is the later 6 bit coded version. Maybe there's copy variances and I heard they changed the glass (not design of course) during the production life time of the asph. The earlier ones might share some glass with the double aspherical.
I use Zeiss Nikon F mount (ZF) lenses as a perfect alternative to Leica, Nikon, and Voigtländer lenses. I use the following Zeiss ZF lenses on my Nikon SLRs: 18mm f/3.5 28mm f/2 135mm f/2
The strength of this lens is closest focusing distance 0.35m which most of other m lens could not give you. I wonder why you did not mentioned …. And the price , is not fall into similar category of summicron
@@adrianleung3760 that was an oversight by me because I shoot mostly with my rangefinder patch and for general street photos. I am actually curious how many ppl would buy a lens for its close focus capability on a rangefinder system. They are inherently not designed for this kind of photography.
@@JimmyCheng i don’t think so, closer focus doesn’t mean you use m camera for micro photography but it make you have much freedom in composing you photo in daily life
This lens has severe green fringing. Are you blind with it? It performs on the level of rf 35 mm f1.8. It can’t even dream to be on the level of rf 35 mm f1.4 L with no flaws in chroma at all. Stop disturbing lie and getting money from Leica advertising.
@@goldenstasgs what are you talking about? I’ve never accepted any money from any lens manufacturers. And plus if you watch my channel enough, I’m all about bashing Leica. But for what it is. It’s THE best Leica 35mm M mount lens. Yes it’s not as good as the new gigantic RF mount lenses and even Sony G masters. But that’s not the point.
Nice photos and thanks for the detailed review! Wasn’t the M9 was the first mirrorless camera with a full frame sensor? So that must have been state of the art at the time, right?
@@krolldavid no it’s sensor spec was outdated. Being the first mirrorless doesn’t warrant you the best sensor. It does render beautifully though.
@@JimmyChengThe specs were "outdated" but the sensor is still state of the art. It renders colours like a tiny Hasselblad H digital back with those Kodak CCDs. Leica M8/M9 files and Hasselblad H2/3/4/5 files play beautifully together with a little more quick editing on the Leica side.
