Thaaaaaank you for being an advocate for ugly sketchbooks! They're a place for trial and error and not all about cute spreads. My sketchbooks look like a crazy person's scribbles with a few nicer pieces 😅

honestly you have no idea how liberating it is to not only hear you say "I advocate for ugly sketch books" but WATCH you sketch without needing it to be perfect and cute and feeling "unattainable" for new artists. I feel very inspired 🤍

I’m also an artist and have adhd and struggle sometimes with working solo. This video gave me the same feeling of “body doubling” (the idea of the presence of someone giving motivation and preventing procrastination). Thanks for sharing! And loved your exploration and sketches ☺️

@@furrylittlepeach I’m definitely not an expert but I assume different people would find different methods that work for them, so audiobooks could fit into that ☺️. For me it’s working in shared spaces like a library or shared studio. Hearing the activity of other people working and creating helps keep me on track and less likely to procrastinate 😆

@@furrylittlepeach The waves on the rock page really jumped out to me! And seeing you get really excited about the earth layers page was interesting because that's something that would have never made me stop! Same with when you stopped to draw the flowers, I was interested in the big green shape on the opposite page. I feel similarly that things fit into a world in my head and I think the things that catch my eye play a big part of that!

that was so fun! i love seeing your creative process and you make sketching look so much funner! by that i mean you make the process feel much more attainable. Like im not afraid of having an ugly sketchbook but sometimes i feel so stuck thinking of what to draw but i love that you use these really old texts as reference books and adapt to your style
I usually do a few referenced illos and then my mind wanders and i'm warmed up enough to draw something else! It's almost like stretching before exercise not that I know anything about that lmao!
Yes!! Love this video...I have been exploring with sketchbooks and when I want to warm up before getting into a personal project. I take it out, find some images and just draw. I have found this help with being more loose and found interest in drawing specefic images. ✨

Thank you so much for your video...i filled the first real page of my sketchbook because i really love the way, you talk about art. I painted a little snow fox watching the stars and dreaming about being up there and i had so much fun 'cause i didn't try to be perfect. That was so refreshing 'cause i tend not to paint because i always try to be as good as possible. Watching your video really helped!

Personally I appreciated you posting the prompts in September last year. It was the first time I was actually able to participate because I was able to work on the prompts in September when I had a few minutes of down time while my toddler was asleep

I´m around 3 minutes in to the video and I had to pause it cause I got so excited when I saw that "The New Golden Treasury of Natural History!" book because that was my ABSOLUTE favorite book as a child and I still use it for references for sketchbook drawings. I used to read that book back to back when I was a kid. I adored it so much. Still do 😀
Mine is pretty old though, from 1955 and it´s in Swedish 🙂

This was so funn love the videoo!! Ive been drawing snails throught the video as i really want to do a painting of them so im just trying to get their form right before i get to the actual painting so im really excited although i cant decide whether to do gouache, watercolour or both ahah (as in two seperate pieces aha) x♡x

When I saw your sailor pen I was like WAAAAAAIIIIITTTT I have a pen like that lol! I forgot about it how could I. Then I went down this whole road pulling out my black supplies (cause I'm in black and white mode too for some reason) and I just got into it. Now I'm late.

@@furrylittlepeach OK, let's say I've been drawing a giraffe, a zebra or a tree. Just little studies from references and that's all. You say you have a little world for your drawings/characters to exist - which is a leap of imagination I haven't even thought about developing. I suppose I'm asking about finding inspiration for creating little stories to draw, rather than just drawing things. Xx

@@furrylittlepeach Ahh not sure. I know it took me several wait lists at my library to get a copy. I think listening may be a good option after all. You could always try it. I am not sure I will watch the film since I read the book. BTW I am new to your channel and I love it. I actually follow lots of art channels on Pinterest and saw your whale art there and then found you here! All the best to you.
