Hey, here's an idea. Maybe when you reach the middle of the sketchbook you turn it around and start over. That way you have a refresh and don't have to deal with the heavy part being on the left. Just a thought, keep it up : )
It's so refreshing to see another artist that focuses more on animals than humans. Not that I have anything against people that draw humans, I just tend to fall into a loop of forcing myself to draw things I don't enjoy when I see other people draw them. (I feel like such a failure sometimes that I can't draw people/ don't enjoy it) Seeing this video was really motivating for me! I'm going to experiment with more color :))
My husband works in the printing industry so I have the random knowledge that it's called perfect binding. :) & I got into those Strathmore sketchbooks because of you. They're great!
Leigh, you mentioned when you get towards the end of a sketch book you hate how the bulk is on the opposite side..Have you ever considered turning the book upside down to reset the bulk on the side you prefer it on? Just a thought
thanks for filming this! you embody having fun with a sketchbook and it's always fun to witness. this one was especially inspiring! and it's the kind of inspiring where i'm like "ooh damn that looks like fun, i want to go have fun in my sketchbook!" instead of the usual "wow they're so good at art i need to ~practice~ more ugh" 💗💖💕 love that!!
girl i had to stop drinking water bc I made a cup of tea and wanted to get at least a sip of tea in before it got cold but yowza,, I'm obsessed with the idea of free sketching and Its super encouraging to see your layering and stuff,, cool ok bye *bad dancing as I hit enter to post the comment*
Leigh! you don't need to buy expensive stuff to make the grafite not go all over the place. Back in art school a professor told us to use hair spray (ultra hold) to fix the colors for pastels and other materials like it. Obviously wont work like the professional stuff but most households have hair spray and its cheap af. Cheers from Canada :D
really liked this video :) i think many people like sketchbook tours bc they give this impression of perfection without the struggle behind it, but also because it's like a little personal museum ! and as an artist myself i know i like these vids bc they give inspiration on what to draw, on composition, on colors or mediums to try out ! much love to you and your plants
Instead of fixative I just put a cutout of parchment/wax paper over my sketchbook to prevent smudging! Fixative smells icky, not the vibe. Loved the sketchbook tour as always!
This was such a beautiful video essay! Your insights about keeping a sketchbook are truly valuable. I recently started feeling troubled that I spend time in my sketchbook as a way to avoid taking risks and investing time in making large pieces. But your perception about keeping a sketchbook just crushed that silly thought! Thank you!
hey leigh if u don’t like the way your sketchbook lays when it gets toward the end i would suggest you flip it over and start from the back like it’s new ! i used to do that when i had the irrational fear of starting a new sketchbook, i would start it from the back and somehow that helped ? i think that might help you too !
Totally the same Leigh when I get towards the end - I'm soooooo over it and I also am not a fan of sketchbook tours but I enjoyed yours - great work in it!
I really love sketchbook tours. Even going through my own sketchbooks, it feels so nostalgic. Like I get to remember so many random details from the day or time period. Makes me miss the moon at a train station when it snowed and smeared a marker stroke. The day my sister told us she was pregnant and I left a spread half finished on purpose because we got the call when I was mid-sketch.
I did , in fact take a sip every time you said sketch/sketchbook and finished a whole bottle which I rlly needed today. :)💞🤲 plus that dog spread showered me w serotonin omg
Had my water AND a little cup of rice pudding, so we're really living large over here. Plus the deliciousness of the sketchbook tour?? 10/10 chef's kisses for this whole experience, thank you Leigh.
You mentioned you loose interest when sketchbook gets thick on the left side near the end. Maybe try at the middle of the book flipping it upside down and starting at the back of the book if it was a new one(hope that makes sense)... so that you end your sketchbook with the middle of the book. I think that could be fun
Hey Leigh! I had the roughest week of the year so far. I cannot express how drained and disappointed I felt throughout the week and this video feels like an inspiring hug. Can't wait to be done with work to jump in my sketchbook again. Much love
Loved it! I like seeing sketchbook tours from my favorite artists because I learn a lot from seeing their process. It's also a good reminder/inspiration source for my own sketchbook. Sometimes I get too perfectionist about mine and forget that its a judgement free zone to experiment! Thanks Leigh 💚
Leigh, I agree that everything sketch related should be fun! So cheerful, full of great vivid colors and loose - shows your wanderful personality. Greetings from Poland!
This looks awesome! I love having fun in my sketchbook too! I can’t wait to see what you do. You’re art reminds me of the sun. Warm and loving. You can really tell that you love what you do. ❤️
I've been watching your older videos all morning while designing my own stickers - you make me so inspired, thank you!! But then I see this NEW video - have to go back on YT and watch this one too ahaha!!
I’m so jealous of people who put stickers on everything. I love stickers but I’ve always had the worst luck with them. Either ripping them while trying to peel them off the paper or them eventually getting messed up when i have them on any surface 😪. I’ve resorted to just taping magnets to the back of them and putting them on my magnet boards or radiator
I love sketchbook tours!! 💛 my reasons for loving sketchbook tours include: Inspiring Beautiful Casual art Cool book collection of art pieces Shows new ways of creating Just plain awesome 🤷♀️ Anyways, thanks for sharing!! 😁
DUDE. So fucking glad I found your channel recently. Been binging your videos and can’t get enough of your personality, art and overall aesthetic. Also gonna go pick up a sketchbook for myself now okay bye!!!
LOVE IT!💗 Can you please also share the inspiration hunting part of the process? Like how you gather the photos, how you lay them around for you to draw, how exact you are, how much you imagine to it. It would help me a lot to see, and it is super interesting!🌸 Have a fun day!😊
If you don't like the way your sketchbook lays at the end, you can turn it around so the thicker side is right again. Might not be a super aesthetic solution though haha..
Hi! This video was on my recommended and I LOVE sketchbook tours, so I thought I'd check it out! I subbed within the first five minutes of your video! All your sketches and paintings were beautiful and I loved your energy! Great stuff!
i do think it was pretty cool, yes, thank you leigh! i personally dont do sketchbook tours publicly precisely to keep my sketchbooks free from any judgement or pressure to make it into ~content~ like making content is super fun and sharing with others fills me with joy, but sometimes the studio door gotta be firmly closed u kno? its a privilege to get to see a sketchbook tour is what im saying
I have my first cold of the season (boo) and put on your old videos as couch time background. Should have started with this one because I did the water challenge and it got me through my big water glass almost three times.
my bladder after Leigh says sketch/sketchbook 12 times in just the intro and there’s still 13min left: 👁👄👁
LOL I didn't know if viewers would actually take on the "take a sip of water every time I say sketch or sketchbook" YIKEs but also YES
I think my bladder is the size of a grape
Hey, here's an idea. Maybe when you reach the middle of the sketchbook you turn it around and start over. That way you have a refresh and don't have to deal with the heavy part being on the left. Just a thought, keep it up : )
yeah I never sketch from beginning to end. I always pick any random page to sketch on :)
OMG good idea!!
Actually that’s a great idea. Thank you
such an awesome idea...
The way that comment started…I was braced for aggression. But, that’s actually a great suggestion!
I’m pretty sure Leigh said sketchbook more than normal just to keep us hydrated
hydration guaranteed 100%
Lol I love the last page, "I will miss you and not miss you at all"🤣🤣
very honest last page tbh

Leigh: its okay to draw the same thing over and over again if that's your thing today
me: frogfrogfrogfrogfrogfrogfrog
Frog is love, frog is life
..........do you listen to girl in red, mayhaps?
Sameee just learned how to draw frogggssss
What's your insta I'd love to see your frogs!! My current jam is mushrooms..mushrooms everywhere 😅😅
Hydration. Bad dancing. Art. What else do you need in life?
nothing else
It's so refreshing to see another artist that focuses more on animals than humans. Not that I have anything against people that draw humans, I just tend to fall into a loop of forcing myself to draw things I don't enjoy when I see other people draw them. (I feel like such a failure sometimes that I can't draw people/ don't enjoy it) Seeing this video was really motivating for me! I'm going to experiment with more color :))
i love sketchbook tours because you get to see so much art at once and its so fluid and natural art.
My husband works in the printing industry so I have the random knowledge that it's called perfect binding. :) & I got into those Strathmore sketchbooks because of you. They're great!
Drowning within the first 2 minutes with that hydration challenge
Leigh, you mentioned when you get towards the end of a sketch book you hate how the bulk is on the opposite side..Have you ever considered turning the book upside down to reset the bulk on the side you prefer it on? Just a thought
That's a good idea I've never thought about that. Thanks!
The queen of england and all royal family need to learn how to wave like you 😀🥰🥰
thanks for filming this! you embody having fun with a sketchbook and it's always fun to witness. this one was especially inspiring! and it's the kind of inspiring where i'm like "ooh damn that looks like fun, i want to go have fun in my sketchbook!" instead of the usual "wow they're so good at art i need to ~practice~ more ugh" 💗💖💕 love that!!
Love this :') thank you!!!! I could cry.
I feel the same way !! I was like, OH man I need to go get out all of my supplies! I need to draw now and have fun doing it!
If that’s your art in your profile then I am thoroughly INSPIRED by you rn 🧡
You took the words out of my mouth! Looking at Leigh's works, even if it is a completely different style from mine, always leaves me insipired.
glad I played this drinking game with water or else I would've been drunk at 1PM on a friday
Honestly you would probbably get alcohol poisoning from this drinking game
girl i had to stop drinking water bc I made a cup of tea and wanted to get at least a sip of tea in before it got cold but yowza,, I'm obsessed with the idea of free sketching and Its super encouraging to see your layering and stuff,, cool ok bye *bad dancing as I hit enter to post the comment*
This was such a joy to watch! It's always nice to have a nosy peak inside other artists' sketchbooks - loved it!

Hairspray is very acidic and shouldn’t be used for archival purposes but it works if it’s a quick sketch you don’t care about the longevity of
Im in europe. My cheap end extra super hold hairspray is only a little less expensive than normal setting spray.
really liked this video :) i think many people like sketchbook tours bc they give this impression of perfection without the struggle behind it, but also because it's like a little personal museum ! and as an artist myself i know i like these vids bc they give inspiration on what to draw, on composition, on colors or mediums to try out !
much love to you and your plants
completely unrelated, but you have a really nice profile picture
After the halfway point in the sketchbook you could flip it upside down so that the thick side is always on the right
that little brown chicken on the right page at 11:07 is my favorite
it's just so CUTE XD
Instead of fixative I just put a cutout of parchment/wax paper over my sketchbook to prevent smudging! Fixative smells icky, not the vibe. Loved the sketchbook tour as always!
I love the color combinations in your sketchbooks!
"I'm a little surprised that you would make it to the end if you don't likey" had me ROLLING
Hahahaha
This was such a beautiful video essay! Your insights about keeping a sketchbook are truly valuable. I recently started feeling troubled that I spend time in my sketchbook as a way to avoid taking risks and investing time in making large pieces. But your perception about keeping a sketchbook just crushed that silly thought! Thank you!
Your color choice is ✨ immaculate ✨
everything about this sketchbook tour is so satisfying to watch. the colors combination is magical!
hey leigh if u don’t like the way your sketchbook lays when it gets toward the end i would suggest you flip it over and start from the back like it’s new ! i used to do that when i had the irrational fear of starting a new sketchbook, i would start it from the back and somehow that helped ? i think that might help you too !
3:25 following the sip every time Leigh says sketchbook rule and my glass is already empty
Got my lunch, glass of water, and I'm buckled up for the tour!
Totally the same Leigh when I get towards the end - I'm soooooo over it and I also am not a fan of sketchbook tours but I enjoyed yours - great work in it!

i rlly admire how youre not afraid to use colours, they're so vibrant and full of life! i rlly want to learn how to make pretty and warm colours 🥰
I loved that outro more than I‘d like to admit
the only sketchbook tour on the internet. the first. the last. MY EVERYTHANG
I did , in fact take a sip every time you said sketch/sketchbook and finished a whole bottle which I rlly needed today. :)💞🤲 plus that dog spread showered me w serotonin omg
Please minute in and I can't take my mouth away from the straw of my waterbottle 😭
Had my water AND a little cup of rice pudding, so we're really living large over here. Plus the deliciousness of the sketchbook tour?? 10/10 chef's kisses for this whole experience, thank you Leigh.
My favorite page is the one at 9:50
What about it so great? Everything.
Nice video btw
Been looking forward to this all day. Did NOT disappoint

My ADHD going crazy while I try to listen, look at the drawings and read the little pop-up phrases hahahaha
Hey Leigh! I had the roughest week of the year so far. I cannot express how drained and disappointed I felt throughout the week and this video feels like an inspiring hug. Can't wait to be done with work to jump in my sketchbook again. Much love
I just started drawing again in my sketchbook after months of not doing it and this was exactly what I needed!, Love it. Hope you're all doing well ✨

Your sketchbooks are always so interesting! You take objects that I wouldn't have ever thought of and you illustrate or stylize them in a neat way.
Hi Leigh. Plz never remove that stunning raccoon print from your shop. Can't afford buying it atm, but will definitely buy it in the future ❤
I loved it ! And my favorite page it was where's Kakachi and Shikamaru from Naruto!! :3
I loved this! Great job Leigh! My favorite spread was the green dog spread!

Really love your drawing style! It is so cute, free, and fun!
LOVE IT!💗 Can you please also share the inspiration hunting part of the process? Like how you gather the photos, how you lay them around for you to draw, how exact you are, how much you imagine to it. It would help me a lot to see, and it is super interesting!🌸
Have a fun day!😊
Thanks for the tour! Your colour combo choices are 😍❤👍and your drawings are beautiful! Very inspiring. x
If you don't like the way your sketchbook lays at the end, you can turn it around so the thicker side is right again. Might not be a super aesthetic solution though haha..
Thank you for filming this! Great advice to have supplies and references ready available for easier sketching.
Finally a Nausicaä fan aaaaa yay this entire sketchbook is fire
I love that you added in the water drinking challenge 😆
I agree about sketching sometimes being scary because not every piece is going to be finished.
Love your personality, the realness, thanks😌
OMG THATS MY FAVORITE SKETCHBOOK TOOOO!!!! WHEN YOU SAID THAT I PAUSED THE VIDEO TO SCREAM IN AGREEMENT! LOL
Omg this sketchbook is EVERYTHING!!!
You remind me of my mom and it makes me happy. ❤️

Thankyou for sharing 😆 you always make me laugh! Love the artwork and thanks for sharing again 💜
I have my first cold of the season (boo) and put on your old videos as couch time background. Should have started with this one because I did the water challenge and it got me through my big water glass almost three times.
