Thanks Sarah! FYI, thanks for being you, it's uplifting to see your videos on days that are tough for me! Cars and a fun friend who works hard for her viewers! Today was really really hard for me physically so thanks!
this is by far my all time fav vehicle being that I drive a 2008 RX350. that push is for retracting the cup holders if you push in the cup holder for lager drinks.
I own a 2008 400h, and I recently test drove the new F Sport 500, and it was a complete disappointment. I was super excited when it finally arrived at my local dealership, but after that test drive I decided to wait, and i'm not sure where they are getting that 0-60 number, because my 400h will chew up the 500 off the line without hesitation. Hopefully they they switch to a turbo 6 cylinder in the future, or offer a non-hybrid supercharged or turbo 6 cyclinder option. Regardless, I would still choose the 500 over any other non-Lexus model in it's class. 🏁
Thanks Sarah~ I like your very mechanical mind and technical tone to describe this vehicle. That makes your review stands out from the crowd. It's very entertaining !
I don't know what it is about that hand emoji pointer stick you use but it's amazing at helping you explain to me what i'm looking at, and cracks me up at the same time.
Safe Exit Assist - if it's clear to get out. closest to dash cup holder sinks since 2016. The Push lifts it to normal setting. A regular kick. Not a swipe. Karate kid not necessary. foot forward then foot retracted.
14:20 ... The front cup holder lowers to accommodate larger containers. So, please "push" the lift that cup holder. It was already in its up state, that is why you saw no change.
I believe the 500 is in reference to the size of engine that would produce the equivalent amount of power as the hybrid drivetrain (so basically toyota made it up), previous lexus models were always designated by engine size... gs400 had the 4.0L 1uzfe, gx470 had the 4.7L 2uzfe, etc.
The BMW 745 of yore was a 3.2L (later 3.4L) straight six, with turbo. The turbo output was about 40% higher than the normally aspirated, so 3.2 x 1.4 = 4.45 "virtual" liters. So maybe Lexus is doing some German voodoo.
Was here for my dose of Car science, your beautyl, the color of this car,and you giving it the beans!!! Love the overhead view, backseat view, and seeing you drive in those heels!!!! Great video!!!
Another awesome review, loving your description of this Lexus, you are hilarious and so entertaining, please don't stop, you're so addictive and entertaining, great job 😂😂❤
7:20 yeah i noticed this too in other vids of people testing the 500h. But despite that, it could keep up with an X5 (cant rmmbr what trim but it had an inline6), so imagine what would happen if it had a more aggressive gearchange or, better, the 8speed. I can imagine the hybrid system smoothing out the gearchange, but actual power delivery from the ICE via a faster gearbox wudve probably cut the century sprint by half a second.
I won't bore with how said St Celica, was transformed with a illegal 18 RG Twin Cam JA ripper, twin mikuni's, 20R 5 sp drop in, lots of piss and vineagar, roll cage added , shocks-tokico. springs TRD , roll bars, Quickor(!), TRD 13:1 steering box, 140 mph only my Fuldas!!!
Amazing vehicle and stunning colour. Only you can make octopus and shrimp references in a car review and make it interesting and funny! Thank you for a great review. Wish you a happy easter weekend.
Great review! The front cup holder bottom pushes down a level giving extra room for tall cups. Then you can press “push” button to release the bottom back up for standard size cups.
The 2.4 turbo sounds perfect for a Corolla tuned & equipped to compete with the Civic Si. The GR Corolla is phenomenal but too costly (even before markup), a situation not helped by somewhat limited production. Oh well. Great video as always. “Shport”
While I'll never own another SUV, I had a 2020 NX 300 that was rammed and totalled, took the insurance check to the Lexus dealer and bought a 2017 GS350 and now I'm spoiled, but this thing would be tempting were I to need an SUV. I don't car for the infotainment setup, however. The dash/center stack of the 2023 ES 350 is far superior. But, I'm an official geezer and I like buttons and toggles. As always, terrific review!
I've seen (and loved) a very similar color on early 1960s GM cars. A '61 or '62 Cadillac or Buick convertible in that hue with a tan canvas top looks fantastic.
The engine cover has been designed to direct airflow over the motor into the turbo to help with cooling. It's nice to have one that is functional for a change. Also the four wheel steering changes at high speed so it turns in the same direction as the front wheels
10:55 - regarding the 500H, which is the new number designations on latter day Lexus models: The 500 stands for how much equivalent-displacement is under the hood. In the past, 300 = 3-Liter, 500 = 5-liter. Nowadays, with displacement not mattering as much, that is what they're going with to give you idea of how much power/performance to be expected. In this case of the RX500H - it's equivalent to a NA 5-liter V8 in terms of power/performance without stuffing the actual LC 500's powerplant where it doesn't fit... :) Besides, it's more marketing than anything, afterall, who'd wanna buy an RX240H, right? It's like going backwards when we were buying RX350 the years past... Like buying Xbox One when there was Xbox 360 years before... you get my point...
Awesome review Sarah. Love how you show and explain all the details that no one else sees and talks about. Lexus really should bring you on as their worldwide spokesperson. Well, thinking about it...you already are. 🙂
Great review as always but honestly think each review improves. Also love the new camera angles, great for the overall experience. Can we get one at the pedals also? Lexus make some great cars but they're not overly popular in the UK, wonder why? Anyway nice review from a knowledgeable, classy woman who clearly knows her cars and her heels :)
A friend of mine just bought one of these after the exhaust corroded & failed on his 4 year old Benz S Class coupe, to the tune of a $4k unwarrantied repair bill. I haven't seen it yet, but he's pretty stoked about it.
What you describe with the " disconnect" between drive trains was a reason I got rid of my old Honda mechanical AWD SUV. the rear drive train would only engage and help move the vehicle exactly when you needed it to NOT to... it was a heart-attack driving it in the snow. Ford/Volvo's Flex AWD which I moved to in 2018 does the same thing but with much less heart jumping. I honestly think hybrids need to be either gas generator hybrids or plugins, not a combo of IC engines for thrust and electric motors to cheat the system.
as a Lexus fanboy for 25 and half years(with 4 Lexus cars and SUVs), I honestly do not think this thing deserves to be $70,000+ after taxes/fees. Or, to quote my Lexus mechanic friend: "they made it way too complicated for no good reason at all...."
High: Engine sounds like it's being dubbed in another language. Low: I was hoping you'd flog that bad boy up the Hill of Doom. Eh, that's probably get you onto Lexus' s**t list. Can't believe how much top-quality content you churn out in different areas. Love it!
NIce top Sarah. I have a Lexus, and I dont mind the front end, although I cut it off, and put a winch up there. This one seems to be inspired by Legos. Its weird. Why do they keep doing that. Great review. For the price, I would get the GX instead.
I like how your outfit goes along with the cars you review. Plus your have a very quricky way of explaining how the options operate. Keep upthe awesome videos 📹.
Agreed, this turbo 4 cylinder (and turbo 4-cyl hybrid) will likely be dropped into Tacomas and 4Runners. Hopefully they eliminate the front/rear synchronization and transmission lags you noticed. I think all vendors should adopt your terminology for temperature controlled seats -- butt weather. LOL
Most likely the longitudinal version of the 2.4L Hybrid Max (which this HSD combo is) for Tacoma and 4Runner (probably US Land Cruiser* as well) would be pegged at about 320hp / 400 lb-ft combined (the transversal version in the topline Toyota Crown is pegged at 340hp). * known as the Land Cruiser Prado elsewhere (it is unknown if the Lexus GX version will carry the I4 or the V6 Hybrid Max)

They should sack anyone in car companies that think "fake" sounds should even be a thing. It is just monumentally stupid.
I don't mind when its done via ducting from the airbox into the cabin, but yes through the speakers is dumb.
Fake CVT gears - same scale stupidity, but worse in a way that it defies the whole idea of a CVT.
It appears the reasoning is it enhances the driving experience for the stupid?
@@mostcom they should have combined CVTs with fake gear shifting sounds, lol
Totally, 100%
