I drink coffee all morning. I was sweetening with Stevia. A hour after breakfast I would be hungry. I don't know that I was really hungry but I wanted to eat and eat. I am on thyroid medication and I had my doctor check if it was off. It was fine. I figured out the Stevia was giving me this "I am hungry" feeling. Now I limit it to 2 drinks a day.

Stevia sent me to the ER twice in 2022 because stevia is a vasodilator and a diuretic. It was depleting me of electrolytes.

Recently, I had a cold and coughed a lot. Every day, I cooked monk fruit (the actual fruit) with ginger. I drank about a liter a day. The monk fruit is very sweet, but it works as a traditional Chinese medicine for cough relief, similar to a cough syrup. I drank it for two weeks, and I believe I lost a few pounds!

Dr MIndy has been a mentor to me this year. Every morning, when driving to work, I listen to her podcast and it does not matter if I have already listened to it, I will do it again haha i found myself feeling so inspired and grateful for this knowledge that she passes on. Im learning to look after myself at 30, and I hope to find my MOAI that also feels inspired by Dr Mindy and want to help and lift each other up. It's amazing to see such a powerful woman that can reach millions, sharing and inspiring people to live a real, healthy and happy life. Thank you Mindy!

I eliminated refined sugar from my diet over 6 years ago using only maple syrup or stevia sparingly. I had been upwards of 300 pounds and ate mostly junk. Very addicted to sweets. It took time, but I don't crave those foods anymore. When I have a craving for something, it is for healthy quality foods. I am using coconut sugar for holiday goodies this year and plan to enjoy them. 😋

Dr. Mindy I can't describe how gratefull I am for your videos. In my country there is still the 160 gr ch in 5 meals/day narrative when it comes to IR that I suffered a lot from. I started classic (at least here) ketogenic diet with max 30-40 g ch only from veggies 3 months ago, then I met your contents and started fasting 2,5 months ago. I got my energy (even i can say my life) back after 4 years, also lost 10 kg. Can't wait to receive your book and discover more.
I haven't really found an answer for one thing: My blood sugar raises from 4,5-5 (wakeup) to 5,8 (11-12 am) while fasting in the morning. Is that possible that I still have stored glycogene after 3 months of such a low carbs? Can you just give me a hint how or where should I search info to debug this issue?
And once again, thank you for your work and passion!❤

Hi, what you've been doing before doing a second test? Have you been stressed or did you work out? Stored sugar will not get rid from our bodies for that short period of time. We've been on the wrong diet for decades so stored glycogen has been on our whole system. 🙂

@DrMindyPelz Not more stress, than average, no workout. Basically this is the calm part of my day. Reading, housework and things like that. I've been measuring for 4 days only, but raise is there in the morning. Maybe I need a bit more patience regarding results. I just find this something that I don't understand how to influence.

GLYCINE is an amino acid that tastes sweet. It’s granular like sugar. I have used it to sweeten tea and lemonade. I tried it in lemon bars and detected an after taste..Glycine may be an alternative for some. It is a non essential amino acid. Check it out.

I use coconut sugar in most of my baking (or date syrup, honey or monkfruit sweetener) and I agree that coconut sugar is the best tasting among them 😋 Moderation is key, no doubt about that. Hi Dr Pelz, I just bought your book Fast like a girl and I can't wait to optimize my fasting journey for best vitality and energy.
I've got a question though. And maybe this applies for men only. But I thought our body was a pattern-detector and loved consistant schedules. So, my question is : when we don't fast on the week before our period, isn't it confusing for our body considering we've been fasting the other 3 weeks ?
Other question, I've seen protocols in your book where fasting is somewhere between 13h and 16h for intermittent fasting, but isn't it confusing too ? Should we fast for let say 15h for 3 weeeks ?
I am confused around this concept of pattern-detection. Thanks a lot !
