I remember watching this video a year ago to make sure the remote controller had range to make me happy and just yesterday I happen to be in Maui, going up the mountain, and go “wait a second, I’ve seen this place before!” I flew my Skydio 2 in honor of this video, haha.

That's the nicest video quality I've seen yet out of the Skydio. Very clear with not much blocking/pixelation.
I had heard bad things about the Skydio’s range, so this was a pleasant surprise.

That was a awesome video. All the videos I have seen about the SKYDIO 2 has been about the tracking and avoidance. It was great to see how far it can fly out. 1 mile is great for as big is. I been thinking on buying one but without knowing that is the reason I have been holding up on buying one.

The best I've done with Skydio 2 is about 4300 feet. Great flight and range test, well done. I'm really enjoying your Skydio 2 video's. You always do a great job on these range test. Stay safe.
I'm a DJI guy, but I'll admit that this drone looks like one I'll be buying soon.
I share that feeling. I love my mini for all sorts of reasons. But this will honestly do 70% of my flight missions better and allow me to focus on the driving and content. The tracking automation and collision avoidance is like taking a camera man with you every time.
Especially if DJI gets thrown on the FCC's Covered List and potentially banned in the United States. Very much hope that does not happen tho.

Beefy Beef ... I have done the same... and added the 4G lte option, and added a 7000mah battery... and bought an Insta360 OneX... (and a bebop2, to enjoy 4G when I can’t find a good landing strip for the disco)...
Because of Dustin, I moved into drone/disco hobby... ;)
And because of the quality and the honesty of his reviews, I have not been disappointed... I knew what was to be aware of, and what could be done or not...

A"" so-called "" drone reviewer said he was good friends with you on his weekly drone show, and said he was surprised DJI didn't give you a mavic -air 2. I thought if you know Dustin so well, you would know he has bought all the DJI drones with his own money, " like you have told the people who really watch you". He was trying to.ride your coat-tails 😅😆😁.

Hello there, great demonstration video here! I'm not sure if I will be clear on this question but I would like to ask if you had tried flying it from a far distance and having it detect itself from low battery and it auto returns home. Like the "Mavic Air 2"? In this video it seems like it was just out of range and it decides to return home, but were you able to test to see if it will find battery adjustments to make sure it have enough battery life to make it back to where it was launched.? I would really appreciate the info.

Hey man. Great video as always. If you press and hold the button the left side of the controller, it will increase your speed. I'm not sure what Skydio actually calls this feature, but most have been calling it a 'boost' button. I hope this helps!

How do you add the app display to your videos? Do you use a head strap to hold your hat camera? Regarding the Tascam audio recorder that you use: Do you edit your videos using an editing program having to sync your audio files to your video clips and make sure it perfectly matches in the timeline? It might be a lot of work, but I'd love to see you do a tutorial about how you record and edit everything you do. Thanks!

Thanks for your informative email. I ordered a Skydio 2+, it's a good thing there's a 3-5 day shipping delay. After watching several videos like yours I canceled my order.. My favorite Drone that I've owned was my Parrot Disco. That was an awesome drone. I have not found anything like it since.
I'm building up an AtomicRC Swordfish using Walksnail FPV.. but still I don't think it will come close to the Disco.

Hey Dustin, when the Skydio 2 was in return home mode and you couldn't regain control, there was a red circle with a white X in the Motion Track box at the right hand top of your screen. Did you try touching that X to see if it would cancel the RTH and give you control? Also, it is great to see the mountain road again above the lavender farm. Lovin' Maui. Jess
Yes you can cancel by pressing that but I did not in this video 🍻🤙.
Big Island here. I've had mine for about 2 weeks but I haven't flown it yet. Great range test. I was hoping for 2 miles as most of my long destinations run about that distance. I have the beacon but not the controller. I guess I'm going to need it. I know this video is several months old. Has anything changed via updates on controlling the gimbal on the way back?
There have been a few updates but I haven't done any more range testing yet 🍻

I might have to get the new Mini 2 for my long-range stuff. Oh, are these videos straight out of the camera, or did you color grade them? They look just fine if it's unedited. I'm lazy :-) I've been trying to find a stand-alone polarizer filter for it but so far only found ND/PL.

Looks like a short range, "follow me" type of drone with good obstacle avoidance. Not a long range exploration type drone like the Air2 etc.

Thats the only decent "follow me type" of drone. DJI is trying to catch up but fails miserably. I wish the next model to be foldable and sub 250 grams weight - no brainer to buy then
That drone is pretty damn cool, i liked the 4x4 show, i know u didnt push it as hard with the kids with u but good thing you didnt mess up ur truck..

Great Video, now I know I can fly a little further. Would you recommend connecting the beacon along with the controller. I always have question this, things need to be a little clearer from Skydio. Really love this drone and the video it puts out..
Thanks. Seems like the beacon is only connecting directly to SKYDIO 2 no matter what. So the only reason I'd use beacon with controller is probably if I wanted to track another subject with beacon on it while piloting SKYDIO 2 from afar for better control. 3000 feet isn't bad for the direct connection. I'm going to try to attack beacon to some other RC vehicles and see how it tracks them 🍻
