- Pali Notches is a short but steep and technical hike/scramble near the Nu‘uanu Pali Lookout. The trail goes up a steep ridge to two man made notches. The notches were made during the 1700s by King Kamehameha’s warriors to house cannons and warriors on lookout while they kept Nu’uanu Valley secure. The views are amazing from this incredible hike but there are lots of steep drop offs, and wind or rain can make it dangerous.

It might seem small, but it's actually important - don't use a hat or cap while on the ridges. A lot of ppl put themselves in danger trying to rescue their hat or cap when the wind blows it off their head. Stay safe. ✌️
Good advice. I had to take my hat off for that exact reason. It was pretty windy.
